    Now for some real news:

    Wow! Yes!

Democrats pass Joe Biden’s $1tn infrastructure bill after chaotic day

Intense lobbying helped break an impasse between progressives and moderates

House Democrats have passed a $1tn bill to rebuild the nation’s ageing infrastructure after months of delay, delivering Joe Biden a long-awaited legislative victory that he boasted would put the US “on a path to win the economic competition for the 21st century”.

Applause filled the chamber as a bipartisan group of lawmakers gave final passage to the measure late on Friday night, sending it to Biden’s desk. The vote was 228 to 206, with 13 Republicans supporting the bill and six leftwing Democrats opposing it.

Approval of the legislation fulfils one of the president’s central campaign promises to “build back better” in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, as well as his vow to work across the aisle with Republicans, even as he pushes the rest of his agenda forward on a party-line basis.

In a second vote, held shortly after midnight, the House voted 221-213 to clear a procedural hurdle that paves the way for a final vote on a $1.75tn domestic policy and climate change bill, which they hope to pass before Thanksgiving.

“Tonight, we took a monumental step forward as a nation,” Biden said in a statement, expressing his desire to swiftly sign both measures into law. “Generations from now, people will look back and know this is when America won the economic competition for the 21st century.”

Why do you bother asking ? There will always be “not my president “ people. There were plenty when trump was elected and plenty while Biden is elected. And there will continue to be crybabies on both sides that denounce the president if they don’t get their way.

Because I am legitimately curious how people like her think.

And I vehemently disagree that there were "plenty when Trump was elected" who thought he did not actually win. Not sure what you are talking about. Two thirds of the republican party actually do not believe Biden was duly elected. Trump supporters invaded the Capitol Building to try and prevent the new administration from taking power. Trump never conceded and to this day, over a full year later, still says the election was stolen from him. In contrast, Hillary conceded the morning after election day. Sure there were democrats who didn't really think Trump was "their" president per se, but they were not so far gone from reality to the point where they did not acknowledge he actually did win the election.

Being a crybaby is one thing. Being someone who refuses to accept reality is another and, quite frankly, I think it's incredibly dangerous to the future of this country.

So, yeah, that's why I asked the question. One of these days one of these people might actually respond and we can then have a discussion that might be worthwhile. If this doesn't interest you, then just ignore.

These posters you ask will NEVER answer you. I’m not arguing your point. Just kind of a “why waste your time” thing. I I maintain that there were and still are plenty when trump was elected. Plenty of not my president people and plenty that don’t think he legitimately won.

Were those plenty,  plenty of elected officials.  Did the "plenty" storm the capital? No,  they held the peaceful women's march.  There's no legitimate comparison

Ok. You assume everyone who disagrees with the outcome stormed the Capitol. Relatively speaking , that was a very small percentage of far right maniacs. Most people moved on with their life after election night.

A little curious as to why you've selected me to criticize for responding while ignoring the other 8 people who did the same thing. Believe me, you pestering me about it does none of us any good.

Also, you have no evidence to support your belief that "plenty" of people did not believe Trump was actually elected president, while I have plenty of data that backs up what I said. So if I come across someone who believes in that fairytale, you better believe I want to at least ask the question to figure out what's in their mind. Sorry if that offends you, but you can just choose to ignore it....like you did with all the others who responded as well.

There is absolutely NO comparison to this lunacy in the HISTORY of our country. Yeah, I'm gonna continue to ask why.

Poll: Two-thirds of Republicans still think the 2020 election was rigged

A majority of Republicans still believe the 2020 election was stolen from former President Donald Trump, according to a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll. The latest findings show how persistent this false narrative continues to be, despite the preponderance of evidence against it.

The survey of 1,552 U.S. adults, which was conducted from July 30 to Aug. 2, found that 66 percent of Republicans continue to insist that “the election was rigged and stolen from Trump,” while just 18 percent believe “Joe Biden won fair and square.” Twenty-eight percent of independent voters also said they think Trump was the rightful winner of the 2020 election, as did a small 3 percent of Democrats.

While those who continue to hold this unsubstantiated view about the election are in the overall minority, representing just 29 percent of total respondents, the number has remained relatively unchanged over the last several months. Since January, similar surveys have found that between 27 and 29 percent of people believe the election was rigged.

Trump has continually repeated this falsehood since the November election, offering a mixture of debunked conspiracy theories to allege widespread fraud.

The then president’s false claims fueled a violent mob of his supporters to storm the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 in an effort to prevent Congress from certifying Biden’s win in the Electoral College.

The latest Yahoo News/YouGov poll was conducted in the week following the first public hearing of the House select committee to investigate the Jan. 6 attack, which featured firsthand testimony from police officers who responded to the riot at the Capitol. The results indicate that the hearing did little to change the public’s perception of that event.

Since May, surveys have found that a majority of people — between 65 and 71 percent — believe the attack was not justified, and the latest poll falls within that range, at 69 percent. Blame for the Jan. 6 riot remained essentially unchanged from previous surveys, with 48 percent pointing the finger at Trump supporters who gathered at the Capitol, and the vast majority of that 48 percent blaming Trump himself.

The poll is instructive.  2/3 the electino wasn't legit, and the craziness flows from there.

If trump won, do you think there was any chance of chaos and violence that would have ensued in certain cities by far left maniacs? Can you honestly say no? We will never know the answer but to act like that’s an impossibility is nuts. To say there’s only bad “voters” on one side is false.

Who's your duly elected president, shecky?

Relax. Wow. I literally just said to someone that they’re feeding the trolls here. You’re taking this way too seriously.

There would have been nothing sanctioned and encouraged by Biden and his team.  You don't see that as different?

Both sidesing again? No, Dems would not have stormed the capitol nor have gone down some rabbit hole of stupidity like Qanon. And why the fuck does anyone care if a poster asks a question of another poster? Stay out of it if it bothers you. FFS.

”there’s fine people on both sides.” Whistling away.
I’ve seen you “what about trump” on this website 160989 times. It’s kind of your thing. But who cares

did I say they’d storm the Capitol? Burning down cities is more their thing

This has so much to do with the discussion that was taking place. This is nothing but a dumb, antagonistic, irrelevant, meaningless comment. Thanks for wasting my time. As usual
