Seems as if this is proof that Democrats are not the ones in a cult.

Shecky...not seeing the irony here, of course.
Most people are smart enough to not generalize the entirety of anything based on the fringes, but the argument could be made for the other 35%.
Yeah....in the maga world, you are not allowed to even question Trump. If you do you are an outcast, primaried, and have to worry for your life in some cases....and are only welcomed back if you grovel for forgiveness and pledge allegiance to one man. We sadly witnessed that yet again last night. Sad state of affairs.
Political tactics concerning job/power security do not surprise me, this is nothing new.

Can you explain when it has happened before? Donald Trump has posted memes and articles calling for the execution of Liz Cheney. Can you tell us when that last happened in the US?
Are you seriously arguing that job security and the relegation of power is not a motivating factor to those who change their tune for the powers that be in any given administration? It is literally happening right now in both fucking parties.

Awwwww....there's the disingenuousness we all know and love! Both sides are the same! Woo!

Can you remember a time when a former president called for a televised military tribunal for a member of his party who spoke out against  him? Hmmm? Is Joe Biden threatening any of these folks with the same thing? I'll answer for you....no, he's not. You know why? Because the democrats are not in a cult. If you are a republican and you speak out against Trump you literally fear for your life.

    CNN —

Former President Donald Trump amplified posts on social media calling for a televised military tribunal for former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney and the jailing of top elected officials, including President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

“ELIZABETH LYNNE CHENEY IS GUILTY OF TREASON,” one post created by another user that Trump amplified on his social media website Truth Social on Sunday reads. “RETRUTH IF YOU WANT TELEVISED MILITARY TRIBUNALS.”

Cheney responded on X, “Donald - This is the type of thing that demonstrates yet again that you are not a stable adult—and are not fit for office.”

A separate post Trump amplified on Truth Social Sunday includes photos of 15 former and current elected officials and says, “THEY SHOULD BE GOING TO JAIL ON MONDAY NOT STEVE BANNON!”

In addition to Biden and Harris, the post includes photos of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, former Vice President Mike Pence and members of the House select committee that investigated the January 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol.

When reached for comment, a Trump campaign spokesperson did not address Trump’s posts but instead pointed to what she described as the January 6 committee’s “political persecution” of the former president.

Trump, who has been convicted of 34 felony counts and faces an additional 54 charges in three other cases, has long suggested he would try to prosecute his political opponents if he’s elected to a second term.

His suggestions of potentially going after political opponents by weaponizing the Justice Department began more than a year ago, when he was first indicted. Trump has said he would appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Biden and his family if he wins a second term and has argued several times he believes he is justified in doing so because Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed a special counsel to oversee criminal investigations that implicate Trump.

Not coincidentally, the ones most offended by pointing out the hypocrisy on both sides typically stand firmly on one side or the other. Pointing the finger is much easier to stomach than honest critique, apparently. I'll leave you to phone call gate and bandage discussion, but before I do, one question. Why does it bother you when a republican changes their stance for their own gain, but not when a democrat does the same? You know why, but I don't expect an honest answer from someone who can't see the blatant hypocrisy in having such a stance. Good day, The Juggler.

Btw, the website you grabbed the picture of your "sister" from has expired. Give my best to chinese-happy.

Politicians who are not in a cult debate policy positions....and then usually coalesce behind a winner.

They don't typically ponder things like whether someone is "America's Hitler" or whether that someone should not be allowed to run again after staging an unsuccessful coup before ultimately begging and pleading forgiveness from that same person in order to be welcomed back to the party. Republicans have no shame.

I have been saying this about a decade now....maga is nothing if not disingenuous. Literally all of them. Literally every subject matter. There is no bothsidesing this issue.

Oh yes there is! We see it here everyday. Pretty remarkable, really. The inability to discern the differences between the parties, their elected members, those that vote for and support them and their respective policies.

I’m not specifically comparing anyone. I’m merely pointing out the prevalence of flip-flopping ones stance for political gain. If it upsets him, he should probably be upset when anyone does it, not just one side. It’s a blatant example of his two favorite words.

Who are you comparing Haley to? She flat out said that tRump was "unfit"....I don't think there is a comparable to that.

Vance said that tRump was Hitler and that anyone who voted for him was a moron....where is the equal on the Dem side?
I’m not specifically comparing anyone. I’m merely pointing out the prevalence of flip-flopping ones stance for political gain. If it upsets him, he should probably be upset when anyone does it, not just one side. It’s a blatant example of his two favorite words.
Would you like a second crack at responding this? Or will you take the disingenuous route again?

Yeah....in the maga world, you are not allowed to even question Trump. "Biden reveals the reason that would make him drop out of the presidential race as Democrats and voters demand he step aside"

By EMILY GOODIN, SENIOR U.S. POLITICAL REPORTER IN LAS VEGAS

    PUBLISHED: 13:41 EDT, 17 July 2024 UPDATED: 15:56 EDT, 17 July 2024

"Joe Biden revealed the one reason he would exit the presidential race as more and more Democrats call for him to step aside.

He said it would take his doctor telling him directly that he had a medical condition that made that necessary.

'If I had some medical condition that emerged, if somebody, if doctors came to me and said, you got this problem and that problem,' Biden said in an interview with BET news."

Hmmm. Sounds like Obama and Pelosi have apparently come up with an acceptable "golden parachute" for Joey to give up his reign.

I can't imagine how much money it must be, given the fortune he's made for his family over the last several decades.

What do you think, one hundred million dollars?

This is all speculation, of course.

No shit it's speculation - it's also completely unsubstantiated. Any Republican who ignores Trump's past business dealings and behaviours, and is critical of Biden for 'undue enrichment', is wearing horse blinders, and shouldn't be shocked to find out they have no credibility on the topic.

No, he’s not. Something interesting happened starting in 2015. Democrats were no longer allowed to criticize anything their party is doing, has done, or ever will do, “because Trump”. I have experienced this phenomenon several times myself on this forum.

Just because the Nelson Muntz of American politics rose to the highest office in the land, and set the bar so disgustingly low, no democrat shall ever be called to account ever again.

We tell everyone that we have higher standards, yet we aren’t allowed to hold anyone to them “cuz trump”. It’s incredibly frustrating to those that would nit only like to rid the world of trump-like politics, but to go back to adult-like standards in politics, but no, anytime you mildly suggest a democrat did something unbecoming, you are labelled a magat, a bigot, a misogynist (in the Hillary era), or worse, just plain stupid/unaware.

Some of us like to discuss their favourite steak even when the main course is hot dogs.

But so many democrats are now satisfied with discussing hot dogs cuz it makes them feel superior.

You've turned one of the most basic political truths into a one-for-one comparison of the most incomparable actions to justify your lack of criticism. Great stance. I'm sorry that me being critical of more than one party upsets you, I truly am. If it's any solace, I'm sure it's upsetting to maga as well.
3 strikes and you're out. This is clear indicator that you know you are wrong.

Hugh I don't know what you are talking about. This is not about this board.

This conversation is about republican politicians, like Nikki Haley and Vance, selling their souls to appease Trump and get into his good graces and how that does not happen on the democratic side. There are countless examples of republicans who dared challenge him about one thing or another and got primaried right out of congress. Countless examples of republicans who have had their lives threatened for going against Trump. He turned his back on his own vice president while his own supporters were clamoring to hang him in the capitol.

On the democratic side RIGHT NOW, you have major congressmen and senators now going against Biden and saying or insinuating he should drop out. They are not scared for their lives. They are not scared that they will be pushed out of the party. That is because democrats are not in a cult like we are seeing in Milwaukee.

Democratic politicians in primaries argue about policy and eventually coalesce behind the nominee.

Republican politicians talk about how bad a person Trump is, and how morally corrupt Trump is, they compare him to Hitler....they say he is unfit for office...they put up with him calling their wives fat etc etc etc......yet they always come home. Because they have no shame.

Plus he just said he’d drop out if his doctors diagnosed him with a medical condition. I think he’s starting to pave the way to come out and announce in a week that doctors have advised him due to his age to retire and rest.

          Excerpt:

<<The updated vaccines are not expected to prevent all cases of COVID, including those causing mild illness; rather, their aim is to reduce severe illness, hospitalization, and death from infection. According to the CDC, COVID is still a major cause of serious respiratory illness. While hospitalizations and deaths from COVID have been declining, 7,318 people were hospitalized with the disease during the first week of April 2024 alone (that number rose as high as 35,000 during one week in January, a month when respiratory diseases tend to peak).

Older people (especially those ages 50 and older) are more likely than younger people to get very sick from COVID. Immunocompromised people and those with chronic medical conditions, such as diabetes or heart disease, are at the highest risk of severe disease and death, but some young, healthy people have also gotten very ill and died from COVID.>>

This is about as effective as the annual flu shot, which tends to be 40-60% effective. Effectiveness here means that your risk of getting infected with the virus is reduced by 54%; the vaccine also reduces the severity of illness if you are infected.

All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.

Harris is the easy one because of the cash and infrastructure.  She inherits it.  The question would be whether any other Ds put themselves in the mix, forcing a split vote at the convention.

Trump amplifies posts calling for televised military tribunal for Liz Cheney

Can you remember a time when a former president called for a televised military tribunal for a member of his party who spoke out against  him? Hmmm? Is Joe Biden threatening any of these folks with the same thing? I'll answer for you....no, he's not. You know why? Because the democrats are not in a cult. If you are a republican and you speak out against Trump you literally fear for your life.

I disagree with that...it isn't that they aren't allowed to criticize. That happens all the time. To me it's been a "why the fuck are you focusing on this when tRump said this, that and the other".

We're seeing this now. The fucking left wing fake media is doing its best to destroy Biden and completely ignoring tRump's bullshit. And god forbid they start a discussion about the fake bandaid.

.I suppose it could.  But she could simply change her address to DC and remove that risk.  That's what Cheney did in 2000 when his previous address was in Texas.  It's a quirk but it brings up a moderate risk.  Considering Harris is the VP, her previous representation of CA in the senate doesn't matter.  Her address is probably DC now, simply for tax reasons.

I think Harris/Shapiro would give them their best shot. Shapiro's been awesome in PA....and obviously that state could swing the whole thing.
