That is why there is a way to unlock it from the inside. Push on the handle for 3 seconds, an alarm will sound and doors will unlock in 30 seconds. Maybe he didn't want to wait the 30 seconds? I don't know. But how anyone can pretend he pulled the alarm by accident is beyond me. It was clearly an intentional thing. We can debate the reason behind it, but it was definitely not an accident. Unless you really think he is that dumb.
