    Why would they?
    TFG didn't and still doesn't
    Their supporters certainly don't
    They're trash
    Some might say, “Deplorables.”
Once again, Hillary was absolutely correct about that.
    This is pure bigotry.
    Nah. It's entirely accurate.
Bigotry: obstinate or unreasonable attachment to a belief, opinion, or faction; in particular, prejudice against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group.

    How is bigotry OK?
It is 2022. You really want to regurgitate and relitigate why she accurately described those people as deplorable 6 years ago...while many of them are awaiting trial for what they did on 1/6? You for real?
How is bigotry OK? It goes hand in hand with racism.

    Bigotry, Racism, Hatred.....

So wait, you're telling me that "many" of the 74 millions are on trial? Are you for real? A very tiny minority is more like it.

Remember when all of the Dems were burning down our cities in 2020?

Both sides have extreme morons but that does not justify bigotry.

74 million people voted to keep him in office. 74 MILLION. after the 4 years of the "let's give him a chance" went by, and they thought it was a good idea to give him another 4 year chance, after bungling a pandemic, being an utter and total embarrassment on the world stage, cozying up to autocrats, yadda yadda yadda.

I also agree not every one of them is deplorable. that's just plain silly to say. But what they are, is so entrenched in their politics that they were willing to swallow their disgust for the man only because he had an R beside his name. I'd say that's a much bigger problem.
74M tacitly approved of tfg's  overt racism & misogyny.
correct. because they are so entrenched in their politics they'd vote for anyone with an R. that's US (and soon, Canadian) politics now.

In 2010, he warmly eulogized Sen. Robert Byrd, a former Exalted Cyclops in the Ku Klux Klan, saying he was “one of my mentors” and that “the Senate is a lesser place for his going.”

In 2007, he referred to Barack Obama as “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean.”

In 2006, he said, “You cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.”

Way back in 1977, he said that forced busing to desegregate schools would cause his children to “grow up in a racial jungle.”

Do you really want to have this discussion?  Are you fully prepared and understand these topics where you want to go toe to toe on them, starting with busing and moving onto the Robert Byrd and his repentance?  Do you understand the history of busing and desegregation?  Because it seems to me that you're just clipping shit out that you probably never studied.
Maybe you should have this conversation with Kamala.... Remember when she called Biden out for racism..... and then went on a late night talk show and just laughed it off? "It was a debate...... hahahaha..."

are you seriously arguing the merits of voting for trump over biden because of....racism?
I'm pointing out the hypocrisy. You'll call our Trump for his racism but you won't do the same for Biden.
actually, I have. I don't expect you to have seen it....we're not all here 24/7. But I believe the guy has changed his opinions on things over the years...evolved. trump has made no such attempts, and even uses dog whistles to gain support from like minded racists.
    Flight Risk out NOW!

We had a discussion recently about how there used to be Republicans here who could argue their points and have rational, yet very heated, discussions.

Now? It's just this same disingenuous bullshit all the time.
You want to talk about a rational discussion?
You're the one personally attacking me! Kat already had to edit one of your posts today because you can't keep from name calling.

Seriously? What did I say that upset you so much? Honestly don't know what you're talking about. If you are so upset about something, I'm sorry but wish you'd DM instead of running to a moderator.

Let's get back on track. What do you take issue with regarding Hillary's actual quote here? Seriously? And do you think any portion of Trump's base exhibits this behavior? If so, what percentage of them do, generally speaking. Curious to your response, if you'd like to have a reasonable conversation:

“You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?” Clinton said. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic—you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up.”
Yes, seriously. You resorted to name calling and then you turn around and pat yourself on the back for being "rational".

Trump exhibits racist behavior on a daily basis. Your own google research found less than five instances on Biden going back to the Ford administration. See the difference?
Rational discussion huh? I guess I didn't see Trumps racism on display for today. Did I miss it?

Having a rational discussion does not include making shit up and then saying, odd are, yes. Rational discussions include facts, not hyperbole.

you wouldn't if he still had a twitter account.

I guess I'm kind of confused here....why are you going all in on Biden being a racist? is this red herring your biggest criticism of him? or are you really just trying to "gotcha" all the "hypocrites" here?

Trump exhibits racist behavior on a daily basis. Your own google research found less than five instances on Biden going back to the Ford administration. See the difference?
Rational discussion huh? I guess I didn't see Trumps racism on display for today. Did I miss it?

    Odds are, yes.
Having a rational discussion does not include making shit up and then saying, odd are, yes. Rational discussions include facts, not hyperbole.
    Let's try this again, buddy:

What do you take issue with regarding Hillary's actual quote here? Seriously? And do you think any portion of Trump's base exhibits this behavior? If so, what percentage of them do, generally speaking. Curious to your response, if you'd like to have a reasonable conversation:

“You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?” Clinton said. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic—you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up.”

Yellen: US to 'freeze, seize' wealth of Russian oligarchs
    By FATIMA HUSSEIN

CHICAGO (AP) — Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen used a visit to Chicago on Wednesday to spotlight the Biden administration's determination to strip Russian oligarchs of their wealth in response to Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

“We have made it a priority to go after oligarchs or Russian elites who are key to President Putin’s corrupt power,” Yellen said. She added that Treasury, along with the Justice Department and U.S. allies, plans to “uncover, freeze and seize their wealth around the world.”

Yellen was in Chicago the day after President Joe Biden's State of the Union address to amplify his message as Cabinet members fanned out around the country. She made a point to stop at a bakery in the Ukrainian Village neighborhood as a show of support.

She followed that with a a speech at the University of Illinois-Chicago that suggested the sanctions against Russian companies and powerful individuals will only intensify after a series of salvos that began last week.

    continues....

I am glad/relieved Trump is no longer at the helm of a nuclear power. Unfortunately, I think Biden's timid/moderate style of politics is just going to disappoint (much like Obama did) and we will get another Trump term or from a way more intelligent/evil right wing populist if not in 2024, definitely in 2028.

As for the "Dems were burning down our cities in 2020" narrative... it is patently false. Those of us who actually live in these cities can attest that. No city was burnt down, and protests were overwhelmingly peaceful and non-violent. The only ones who believe otherwise watch and listen to way too much scaremongering right wing media.
It is claimed that there was between $1-$2 billion worth of damage in these riots(most expensive riots in history). Did Fox new make that up?

I'd love for any of the folks making that disingenuous argument to show me pictures of the looters/rioters sportin' their Biden gear! Spoiler alert, they cannot produce such photos.

You cannot address Hillary's actual quote, can you?
I am talking about your quote and the narrative that this message board pushes pull of hatred.
So you agree she was right I guess. lol
If you want to clump in 50% of a group of people without facts, that is bigotry, is it not?
What percentage would be acceptable to you?
The only number acceptable to me is a number given with facts.

I answered this question with the facts you seem to desire a few years ago in the POOTWH thread but seeing how you’re relatively new, I’ll repeat it. It was based on polling of POOTWH supporters around racial attitudes which showed approximately 30-35% held racist views, ergo “deplorable.”

As such, 30-35% of POOTWH voters, 22,266,887 to 25,978,035 of ‘Muricans age 18+ = 8.6-10% of the US population.

8.6% to 10% of ‘Muricans are deplorable. 30% to 35% of POOTWH voters are deplorable.

    Do you agree?

Maybe you should have this conversation with Kamala.... Remember when she called Biden out for racism..... and then went on a late night talk show and just laughed it off? "It was a debate...... hahahaha..."

    1. I was extremely critical of Kamala and her comment at the first debate.  If you go back to the debates page, I hammered her for being dirty and disingenuous with that remark.  Plus it's factually inaccurate.  Busing was extremely unpopular with both Whites and Blacks.  Black children spent their days on the buses just like the white kids did.  Plus all educational analysis that was done in the 80s and 90s show that it did not increase test scores at all.  It was a failure as a policy which is why it is not in place today.

    2. Robert Byrd was sorrowful, remorseful and repentant about his time in the KKK.  I think that's great.  If there is one thing that has gone missing in this country it is Grace.  And I mean this in the biblical sense.  The second thing we have forgotten is forgiveness.  People who point to Robert Byrd and his youth compared to the wisdom and grace of his elder years should not call themselves Christians.

    3. For the same reason above, Joe Biden has said some dumb things over the course of his 80 years on this Earth.  He has lived through radically different generations.  I give him a ton of credit for adapting to the times rather than being an old codger bitching about how good things used to be.  I'm pretty sure you've said dumb things.  I have too.  But are you still saying them today?  That's the difference between Biden and the Deplorables.

    4. I'm pretty sure if Obama got over Biden's comment, you can too.

Trump is the favored candidate of christian white supremacists, neonazis and klansmen. That's it. It doesn't matter if other conservatives, whether they are Black/Brown/Asian. He wins on the racism spectrum because he managed to create a coalition made up of people who historically rarely if ever voted because of their mistrust of the US government (largely along racial/conspiratorial lines).

Love the phrasing of this. A challenge to have a discussion. That may have worked on the last guy, where everything was PR, but this President actually gives a shit.
“Gives a shit.”  Lol, joe doesn’t even know where he is at any given moment.

Lol!! This was some grade A taunting by Vlad. First he mocks Joe’s health, wishing him “good health” several times, lol- he knows the dude is playing with at most about 45 cards.

Then he says “I want to propose to President Biden to continue our discussion, but on the condition that we do it basically live, as it’s called. Without any delays and directly in an open, direct discussion”

well played, Vlad.  He knows there’s no way Biden can hold a coherent unhelped conversation without going full on “ok, look, here’s the deal... (followed by one flew over the cookoos nest loony tunes stuff),” or it being edited, altered, etc. by Joe’s puppeteers.  the White House responded by saying Biden was “very busy.” Hahahaha- doing what, taking a nap? Getting a diaper change? Walking aimlessly around lost talking about pudding?  It was essentially a Putin mic drop, but while walking away and tossing it back over his shoulder.

Reminds me of the trump administration. I felt like most of the time the folks behind the scenes there were like “oh god, what has he said/done now that we have to fix?!”

The gold with Trump was that he was completely unhinged and unpredictable.  No one knew what he was going to do next.  That’s a good way to keep enemies at bay.  With Joe? Just open up Obama’s or Democrat plan books from the past- he has no capability to make his own choices, and the world leaders know it.

@RoleModelsinBlood31 ---so who you rooting for in this whole Ukraine conflict, my man?

I find this narrative by trumplicans that biden is demented really fucking pathetic. I mean, did these people see the debates? he mopped the floor with trump. he didn't have any handlers, or editing (and no, he wasn't wearing a wire); it was on live freaking tv.

during pressers? the guy answers questions just like any normal president, save for a few stuttering slip ups here and there. he makes fun of himself for his gaffes. and the right just keeps up with this "change his diaper" bullshit. you people should be embarrassed.

the guy can speak circles around trump when it comes to policy. trump has no fucking clue except for dollars and cents.

you simply can't compare most politicians to obama when it comes to public speaking (if that's what this is). the guy was a diamond among rocks.

The disingenuousness is strong with this one.

Hey look! A google search found 4 questionable racist things Joe Biden said in the last 45 years. You can find 4 things per day on Donald Trump in the same timeframe.

A racist is still a racist.....
That racist just nominated the first black supreme court justice....I bet he was in black face when he did it

It's called "acts of desperation".  They will say anything to get attention, even the most ridiculous of beliefs and lies.
At this point (or well beyond it, even), Trump followers are basically a cult of True Believers.  I don't think we can expect any rational thinking from the vast majority of them.  They don't deserve our energy.  If they haven't figured out by now how dangerous Trump is, how he is all about himself, what a fool he is, they probably never will.
A better use of our time is to seek ways to make sure he never sits in the White House again.  That could mean the end of democracy in America.

Many of us share that fear, Jose.  We have to work hard in these coming years to not let things go off the deep end.
