CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. — Rep. George Santos, the freshman Republican congressman whose myriad falsehoods became both a scandal and a national punchline, was charged with a host of financial crimes in court papers unsealed Wednesday, including defrauding his donors, using their money for his personal benefit and wrongfully claiming unemployment benefits.
Santos, 34, surrendered to federal authorities in the morning at the Alfonse M. D’Amato Federal Courthouse in this hamlet on Long Island. The freshman congressman, who announced his reelection bid last month, was arraigned before a magistrate judge, told to relinquish his passports and ordered released on $500,000 bond.continues...

So get this...Indiana now allows a deduction for health share expenses on individual income tax returns.
A little background: Indiana is basically a flat tax state. We start with federal adjusted gross income and have just a few deductions/exemptions to arrive at state taxable income. Indiana recognizes no federal itemized deductions. They do allow you to deduct up to $2,500 in property tax on your home. A whopping tax savings of roughly $100.
The US does NOT allow health share expenses to be deductible as a medical expense. They consider them a gift because you are basically paying other peoples medical expenses.
So now...Indiana allows a deduction for these "gifts" but no deduction for health insurance or out of pocket medical? It almost seems like reverse religious discrimination but you don't necessarily have to be religious to join a health share organization I guess.
