Is there someone here who can explain how and why this is the dems’ fault? Anyone?
The House failed to elect a new speaker on a second ballot Wednesday afternoon.
Of the 221 House Republicans, 199 voted in favor of Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), the nominee. This was 18 votes short of the majority needed to win the speakership. All 212 Democrats voted for House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.).
Rep. Steve Womack (R-Ark.) said that opposition to Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) is “profound” and that the members who are against him do not want anything but rather are against him in principle. He says Jordan’s tactics, which some have called “House of Cards,” are more “House of Shards.”
“All I can tell you is that the tactics that they have employed against me, the publishing of my office phone number, and the messages, whether it’s conservative media or anybody else, this is all a result of going after people who do not basically represent the viewpoint of a whole lot of hardcore right-wing conservatives.”
He said his staff has been “cussed out, they’ve been threatened … it’s been nonstop. Most of them are out-of-state calls.”
I see Bucks County "moderate" Republican Brian Fitzpatrick has twice voted for insurrectionist, sex abuse enabler, Christian Nationalist Gym Jordan for Speaker. Are the voters of Bucks County ever gonna figure out this guy is a reactionary extremist just like the rest of that awful party?

I don't know how else to explain this simple math yet everyone here is blaming the Republican party when it was ALL of the Democrat votes that made this happen. This is clearly the fault of the Democrats who sided with someone like Matt Gaetz, whom you all mock, yet your party sided with him. If Democrats didn't want chaos, they wouldn't have sided with 8 Republicans. The math or common sense couldn't be any clearer.

You really don't understand math.
Nor do you. The repubs hold the majority in the house and could elect a speaker on their own but their speaker candidates are such dumpster fires and beholden to POOTWH that even they can’t stomach a vote for them. Here’s an idea, maybe those 22 repubs who voted against Gym should switch parties and let the dems elect Hakeem? Just a thought

Cmon JB when was the last time the majority party relied on votes from the minority party to elect a speaker to get to 50% +1? The history of the House tells us that it is the majority party’s responsibility to acquire all votes needed to elect a Speaker

sooner or later you need to tell someone to go piss up a rope. and that is what the dems did.

lol is there a majority whip in the house? if so, they need to fire that person, because they are not getting the votes together. they are allowing the gop to look like buffoons every time they take a vote.
