The Ds are in an interesting position. There's no way the GOP can get behind Jeffries. Just isn't practical. But the Ds can get behind a center right Speaker and only a handful of Gop reps need to come along. You can split the committees like 60/40, reinstate Schiff, kill impeachment, etc. Ironically it will give the GOP a better chance at retaining the House but it could be a functional House that is truly center. The Ds really have to put country first but the GOP has to make some concessions.
do you think McCarthy will get it back?
I can't predict the actions of crazy people. It's certainly possible.

Dems would be crazy to vote Kevie back in after the history of his reneging on agreements, lack of a spine and being led by the nose by the Freedumb Caucsuckers. Burned way too many bridges, way too many.

Well that's a good point. I was thinking about whether the Rs would put him back up. They can but they could only lose a few votes without D help and to your point, Ds would not help him. He is not trust worthy.
208 Democrats sided with 8 Republicans to vote McCarthy out. 210 Republicans voted against kicking McCarthy out.
100% of Democrats voted to kick McCarthy out. 4% of Republicans voted to kick him out.
I don't know how else to explain this simple math yet everyone here is blaming the Republican party when it was ALL of the Democrat votes that made this happen. This is clearly the fault of the Democrats who sided with someone like Matt Gaetz, whom you all mock, yet your party sided with him. If Democrats didn't want chaos, they wouldn't have sided with 8 Republicans. The math or common sense couldn't be any clearer.
This message board is nothing but an echo chamber for the left.

4% of repubs forced a vote on a speaker neither side could trust and who bowed down to the 4% of repubs who have a radical authoritarian vision for ‘Murica. Kevie bowed to 1% of the house. Fuck him and the repub mess. Own it.

And every comment you make is a fox news/right wing media talking point.
They voted him out cuz he was cuckholded to the brainless extreme wing of your party.

if a democratic speaker of the house constantly shit on your party after your party helped the dems pass some legislation, would you vote to retain that democratic speaker? No? ok then. now you get it.

Looks like the last time a major party Congressperson voted for the opposition party's House Speaker nominee was when five Republicans voted for a Democrat during a House Speaker vote in 1927, and it was immaterial in the outcome. Nearly 100 years later, and not a single major party politician has defected to assist the opposition party. You're just making excuses for unprecedented ineptitude from the GOP.

Perhaps you should spend more time on the Ted Nugent and Kid Rock fan forums and much less time here? Just a suggestion.

Meh. I said something along these lines that the dems want to watch Rome burn but think about it, the gop put themselves in this position. The dems may have helped the situation but 4% of the GOP is holding the house hostage.
Looking at the whole picture McCarthy was bound to that 4% and not the other 96%.

Instead of him thanking the Democrats he shitted on them!

Sure, it's up to Democrats to save Republicans from themselves. Makes a ton of sense and shows more of that"personal responsibility" the GOP is infamous for. You know who didn't need Republicans to run the House? Nancy. Because she was a hardball professional. When the Squad tried to strong arm her in 2018, she nutted them. But she also committed to step back in 2022, which she did. She kept her commitment. That's why she was able to actually govern.

And thanks for the fuzzy math, by the way. From Letter From An American:
When House members voted for speaker, the Democrats were unified behind Jeffries, who won all 212 of their votes. Jordan won only 200 of the 217 votes necessary to become speaker, with 20 Republicans voting for someone else. His allies initially said they would call a second vote tonight but changed their minds, apparently realizing that another loss would weaken his candidacy significantly. They say they will hold another vote tomorrow.
If democrats weren't so dedicated to chaos, 17 of them would have voted for *checks notes* a literal insurrectionist to be speaker of the house and 2nd in line to the presidency.

The GOP issues their talking points through the media and people repeat it like parrots without giving it a second thought. It's amazing.
