    Well that's a good point.  I was thinking about whether the Rs would put him back up.  They can but they could only lose a few votes without D help and to your point,  Ds would not help him.   He is not trust worthy.

    I don't know how else to explain this simple math yet everyone here is blaming the Republican party when it was ALL of the Democrat votes that made this happen. This is clearly the fault of the Democrats who sided with someone like Matt Gaetz, whom you all mock, yet your party sided with him. If Democrats didn't want chaos, they wouldn't have sided with 8 Republicans. The math or common sense couldn't be any clearer.

    Looks like the last time a major party Congressperson voted for the opposition party's House Speaker nominee was when five Republicans voted for a Democrat during a House Speaker vote in 1927, and it was immaterial in the outcome. Nearly 100 years later, and not a single major party politician has defected to assist the opposition party. You're just making excuses for unprecedented ineptitude from the GOP.

    Meh.  I said something along these lines that the dems want to watch Rome burn but think about it, the gop put themselves in this position.  The dems may have helped the situation but 4% of the GOP is holding the house hostage.  

    Looking at the whole picture McCarthy was bound to that 4% and not the other 96%.

    Sure,  it's up to Democrats to save Republicans from themselves.  Makes a ton of sense and shows more of that"personal responsibility" the GOP is infamous for.  You know who didn't need Republicans to run the House? Nancy.  Because she was a hardball professional.  When the Squad tried to strong arm her in 2018, she nutted them. But she also committed to step back in 2022, which she did.  She kept her commitment.  That's why she was able to actually govern.
