I think McCarthy must be getting a little bit too much sun when he's at home down there in Bakersfield.

What is his plan for highways etc?  We have family in New Mexico and frequently drive to see them, as do many New Mexicans and Texans on both sides of the state line.   I'm not sure this will work out for old greg.

Still in austin.  Most people dislike Greg including Republicans.  As far as closing the Texas NM border.  All I've seen is just the news reports.  I'm curious what happens next time we drive to New Mexico.  No way he puts razor wire all along that border.  More likely he will just put it along a section of the Rio Grande, which would be pointless because people could just I don't know go around it. More political theater from Greg Abbott. He sucks so bad.

Yeah, I have marveled at the fact that the GOP changed the rules for removing the Speaker, a GOP member introduced the measure to vote to remove him, and somehow it was the Democrat's fault that the Speaker was removed.

A good analogy would be the GOP starting fires and then expecting Democrats to be the mop up crew.  Someone needs to tell them to  stop playing with matches.

once, just ONCE, I'd like these morons to honestly ask themselves: had this been reversed, the ousting of Nancy Pelosi, would republicans have voted yes or no to remove her? it would have been 100% yes. and she isn't even comparable to the slime of mccarthy. hypocrites.

Ha! Could not have happened to a bigger dick.

The Ds are in an interesting position.  There's no way the GOP can get behind Jeffries. Just isn't practical.  But the Ds can get behind a center right Speaker and only a handful of Gop reps need to come along.  You can split the committees like 60/40, reinstate Schiff, kill impeachment,  etc. Ironically it will give the GOP a better chance at retaining the House but it could be a functional House that is truly center.  The Ds really have to put country first but the GOP has to make some concessions.

    Maxine did.

When her name was called, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) cast her vote for “Hakeem Jeffries — versus an insurrectionist.” The latter was a reference to Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who was one of Donald Trump’s key allies in his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. Waters’s comments caused a flurry of protest from the Republican side of the chamber.

She's not necessarily wrong. I cannot imagine someone like this being speaker. Politically, it would be beneficial for the dems to officially be able to label all republicans as maga extremists moving forward. But fucking terrible for the future of the country. You can, conceivably, imagine a scenario (it's probably likely at this point, actually) where they do not certify any election that Donald Trump doesn't win.

Oh, I get it. Thing is, even if Hakeem became speaker, the same POOTWH wing of the repub party would do everything they could to sabotage any legislation and then tell their voters, who’d believe them, that it’s all the radical, leftist, communist dems’ fault, not realizing that the dems keep their radical left in check. Repubs would run on the black, Muslim man telling us what to do and what to do is “unamerican.” Why give them that?

At this point, fuck ‘em and run on the repub inability to govern effectively. The only way this changes is a massive rejection of repubs at the next election, which I’m not sure will happen because you know, “the other.”
