Took less than five minutes to find that stuff on twitter. Searches like "Elderly woman paint" and "Chicago riots."
My next question is why would you want to? I opted out of angry memes and video clips and cable news two months ago. My quality of life has improved exponentially. I had no idea there was an elderly paint lady in existence until you identified her here. My life doesn't change by knowing or not knowing about her. I'm working on improving the connections I have with the people in my actual life. Try it. It's liberating.

Well, I believe relationships can always be better, no matter how good they are. I don't really need your luck, but thanks anyway. I'm just suggesting that sitting on the Internet all day (while at work? Your boss pays you to post videos? Wow, what a gig) can make people really angry and bitter. Tuning out for awhile, you know like the old days when we weren't bombarded by negativity all day long, can reduce stress and lead to a healthier perspective. I look around my neighborhood from my window -- nobody is looting, marching, beating up old ladies. Kids (of color) are playing in the playground. People (of color) are walking their dogs. There's a guy (of non-color) waxing his car. I'm inside watching Wheel of Fortune. The world really isn't on fire, as much as the Silicon Valley technocrats want us all to believe that it is. But just keep on clicking. You are making about five people really, really, really rich with your devotion to the cause.

So why do you have an issue with me posting this sort of stuff? I think this stuff is terrible. Businesses burned to the ground, people killed/injured, a good cause (equality) hijacked by bad actors. These aren’t narratives created by tech companies. They’re real. That’s fine if you don’t care about any of it because things are fine in your neighborhood. But then walk on by. I never said I didn't like the fact that there is strife and division in the world. I haven't singled you out with a pompous piece of advice. I've been telling everyone I know, sometimes here, often in real life -- get the fuck off social media. According to the headline I most recently saw about Chicago, the whole current spate of violence is because some asshole spread misinformation on Facebook to millions of people. Every single time someone spreads the video or the meme, it just inflames the situation. It's a fucking cesspool. Why do you or anyone want to be a part of that? How is it helpful to keep replaying the same violent images over and over again? It's not. At all.
I actually thought to separate this stuff from the other threads was a good idea. Post this stuff in the BLM thread, and you’re taking away from an equality movement. The Chicago stuff was in the police abuse thread, and someone asked what it had to do with police abuse. I thought that was a good point. Trump and Biden? More than enough to talk about with them to have it clogged up with riots. So I’m not trying to agitate. More of an organizational effort than anything. Or at least that was the intent. And posting videos of these events isn’t the same as spreading misinformation like what you’re said you read in a headline regarding the Chicago’s riots.

People arrested in Portland since late May on nonviolent misdemeanor charges during the protests that have racked Oregon’s largest city for more than two months won’t be prosecuted.
The new policy recognizes the outrage and frustration over a history of racial injustice that has led to the city’s often violent protests and the practical realities of the court system, Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt said.
It is running more than two months behind in processing cases because of the coronavirus. As a result, at least several hundred people arrested over the past few months will not face criminal prosecution, according to statistics provided by Schmidt’s office.
The same no-prosecution policy applies to those arrested on similar charges in future demonstrations, he said.

A group with ties to far-right organizations that have long targeted Portland gathered downtown Saturday afternoon to wave American flags and push back against Black Lives Matter protests challenging police brutality. The event ended with two gunshots.
Protests in other cities also erupted into violence Saturday, as police grappled with small groups hijacking otherwise peaceful events, including far-right activists armed with pepper spray and wooden flagpoles.
One clash ended in fistfights after Proud Boys marched in Kalamazoo, Mich. Police intervened as the Proud Boys retreated into a parking garage, about seven minutes after a large brawl broke out between members of the far-right group and their opponents. Officers arrested some counterprotesters who had come out to oppose the right-wing group.
In Chicago, a protest also grew violent after people used umbrellas and skateboards to attack police officers, injuring 17. Twenty-four people were arrested.
And just before midnight Saturday, a group of roughly 50 protesters, most dressed in black and wearing full-face masks, descended on the 5th District police precinct in South Minneapolis.
The group lobbed rocks and fireworks at the building. The station’s front windows were sprayed with anti-police graffiti, and red paint was poured along the steps of the front entrance and the sidewalk.
“Blood on your hands,” one message read, while another referred to officers as “pigs.”
Early Saturday afternoon in Portland, far-right extremists walked around a few downtown blocks, trading barbs with antifascists. Video shows several people in the far-right crowd using pepper spray and pellets fired from paintball guns against the counterprotesters.
As the protest wrapped up, a car drove out of a parking garage, witnesses say, and one of the people inside the car pulled out a gun and fired two shots as they sped away. No one was injured.
“A blue Toyota Corolla came tearing out, and then out of the driver’s seat two shots were fired,” said Laura Jedeed, a freelance journalist who witnessed the shooting.
Video of the incident posted on social media appears to show two shots fired from the driver’s-side window of a blue car pulling out of a parking garage into the street. It’s not clear who fired the shots.
A reporter with local TV news station KOIN heard the two gunshots pop. Witnesses picked up a bullet casing outside the garage, according to KOIN. Freelance photographer Paula Bronstein also witnessed the gunfire.
The Portland Police Bureau initially told The Washington Post that officers were aware of a scuffle, pepper spray use and a paintball gun at the rally, but said they had not received evidence of gunshots. About three hours later, the bureau confirmed one injury at the event and acknowledged allegations that shots had been fired.
“An officer took a report this afternoon after a person was injured after being hit in the face with a paintball fired from a paintball gun,” the bureau later said in a statement. “The groups moved a short distance from Southwest 3rd Avenue and confronted each other near Southwest 4th Avenue and Southwest Yamhill Street. During that confrontation a person allegedly fired a gun.”
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler did not respond to a request for comment on the alleged shooting.
Some critics noted a disparity between how police responded to the right-wing group downtown and the left-leaning crowd that gathered outside a police building Saturday night.
