    It sucks.

This is the best answer I've seen for any question on here.

    Short and sweet.
Sorry… I guess I could have been more helpful with my answer =)

Asbury Park is small… only 1 square mile.  There are no major parking lots on the east side of town near the beach. It’s all on street parking and a lot of that will be unavailable when they fence off the area near the beach for the festival.  There is a NJ transit train station in town. I saw the Foo Fighters there for the Bamboozle Festival in 2012 and it was a similar setup.  We parked on the street one town to the north and had like a 5 minute walk. But some of the surrounding towns have caught on and they put up temporary no parking signs to discourage it. The west side of Asbury Park is very sketchy in some parts and I don’t know that I would want to be walking back to my car over there late at night. All the towns surrounding Asbury Park are very safe.  Best bet might be to find a parking spot in a nearby town as close as you can get and then walk or call for an Uber.  Ocean Grove, Belmar, Avon, Ocean Twp, Loch Arbour, Interlaken and Allenhurst are all close and good bets.  Neptune near the Asbury border is an exception and is also a little sketchy.

Edit: Bradley Beach is also close and safe.

Not to toot my own horn, but looking back on it, grabbing an AirBnB for this thing right after 2020's was cancelled was a genius move. Also never realized how close Asbury Park is to Philly. It's no different than driving to Sea Isle or Ocean City.  Toot toot.
I grabbed a hotel as well last summer. I actually just checked to make sure the reservation was still good since I made the reservation in June 2020. I just got confirmation that my room is still reserved.

Nice! Yeah our AirBnB host was like, "we never had someone book a year out, but we'll honor the 2020 rate." Gonna be a great weekend!

Park at the target in Ocean. There is a huge complex there with ridiculous amounts of parking. they may tow, but who knows. I live in town so if anyone needs additional suggestions to on2legs let me know.

The brand names should be ok. But 33 dive hotel I wouldn’t do.

It’s fine and a short car ride to the festival.  Those hotels are in a business/retail corridor and not in a problem area.

Also… go with name brand hotels.  Try to avoid the mom & pop motels.  They are dingy and attract a gritty crowd.

I’d expect some delays getting out of the immediate area but it’s only a few miles to the parkway if you’re looking to go south/north and also east access to 138 which turns into 195 if you’re going west towards Philly.

Expect delays and also ridiculous prices on ubers after the festival.  I tried to get one on Sunday night in 2019 and the rate was probably five times what it normally is.  Hunkered down at a bar to wait out the pricing and it only increased.  Eventually ended up taking a walk to a neighboring town in order to find a reasonably priced uber.

Call an actual cab which won’t surge you. Or yes walk a good distance away first.

Yes… it’s practically a straight shot from that hotel to Asbury Park.  It’s less than a 10 minute car ride on a normal day.

Impulsively bought a ticket without a hotel or airfare and closest I could find was West Long Branch -6 miles away - Hopefully that's a decent enough area.

You’re fine with WLB… especially if you booked a name brand chain.
