  • Anti-vaxxers are putting the world at risk of COVID developing into a vaccine resistant strain. I hope the 1-2 of you on here who have expressed your views will change your mind. You won't be able to live in an unaffected world for much longer I'm afraid. I have resources I use in my work to help you get the facts on the vaccine if you would like them. Just reach out and I'll send them along.
This is the key. If people would actually seek information (from reputable sources) instead of opinions, I think it would make a difference in how some feel about the vaccines. Not everyone of course, but a substantial number.
One of the many problems is that the most vigorous anti-vaxxer's (my cousin being one) cite "facts" and "experts" with stories of adverse reactions to the vaccines that are causing long term problems or death.  The "my freedom" group is one thing...the "you are being fooled by the government and others who are beholden" is something else.  Impossible to argue because the counterarguments are delivered with "support".  I reached my wits end when a friend of mine passed away from heat exhaustion while on a family vacation and, upon hearing this, my cousin asked with a completely straight face, "did she get the vaccine?"

Same here. I have access to actual expert information, not a Facebook group.

And of course the CDC's website is available to everyone. :-)

As a physician, I'm excited are moving this way on negative tests and vaccines but would have preferred it was vaccinated only allowed. Hopefully this will be the future of concerts and Foo Fighters are doing vaccinated only.

Personally I'm exhausted by the refusal of vaccines. They are extremely safe, and highly effective. If you don't want one no concerts, plane rides, restaurants, foreign travel, etc for you. Your selfish decision has a huge effect on others including possibly killing someone by giving them a deadly virus.

I don't get to drive home drunk after the concert because it my choice and my freedom. Why??? Because it puts other lives at risk, no difference here.

Excited to live Eddie and PJ again, hopefully full vaccine mandate soon to come for the shows.

Would you mind telling that to all the spreadnecks in SW Virginia?..Much appreciated

^ Ouch. I thought we were all at the "we have a vaccine, so let's move towards endemic" stage.

Just because we can doesn't mean everyone is ready to. This absolutely sucks, but I get why some artists are unwilling to take the risk.

Or unwilling to make it vax/neg test only.
  • Is there any thinking that the decision to forge on will come down to a division between the musical "haves" and "have-not's"?  Bands that can afford (personally) to forego touring for now (another year?) will respond like Neil Young and Trent Reznor.  They will operate with "an abundance of caution" while younger, less established bands will make the decision to stop touring only if they are forced to.  At this point, with the way the music industry is relying less on sales and more on gate receipts + merch, there is a chance that we are going to see a void of young bands who just couldn't get by.

plenty of truth to that.  smaller bands and pretty much all venues need to move forward or find another job.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

absolutely gutted. It's 2020 all over again. I hope Pearl Jam doesn't pull out for this year.
Luckily my flight was booked through Southwest and they are allowing flight credit for canceled flights.

Yeah, for NIN we were only doing Riot Fest so no travel, but if Ohana is scratched, we have a flight (AA), a rental car and a 10-day AirBNB that we'll have to battle with.  But most of all, the disappointment of losing the shows will really hurt.

All the NIN shows were outdoors (CLE x2 and a bunch of festivals).

Cleveland has a roof but ya still mostly considered outdoors with the sides wide open.

I find these cancelations so odd. We get all of this positive news that vax/neg test only shows are happening safely and bands are still pulling out.

I blame the anti-vaxxers and those who whine about masks. Is it really that hard to wear a fucking mask to protect yourself and your neighbor?! If I asked you (not you specifically @PJNB ) right now “would you wear a mask if it meant you could see Pearl Jam tonight?” would you even hesitate to say “fuck yeah”? If you’d refuse, then just stay home and let the adults enjoy life. Fuck!

I read an interview with Jason Isbell that talked about it. He said that the Stevie Nicks' of the entertainment world can cancel because they have the money to fall back on. Smaller acts such him don't have that luxury. I have tickets to 3 concerts this Fall: Son Volt, Drive By Truckers and Bob Mould. I would consider all of them smaller acts that rely on touring revenue, (maybe not Bob so much) so it will be interesting to see what they do with their shows.
