1988 should be enough for people to not be too relaxed. WOW.
Wow is right. I had no idea he had such a big lead in the polls that summer. Still though, those were two "new" candidates. For Trump as the incumbent to have these sort of numbers might lead to a landslide loss for him. I wonder what the Clinton/Bush numbers in 1992 would look like without Perot in there.
Those are the numbers without Perot. He got out in June. That is why Clinton's lead was so big at that time.

I'm not sure what you mean here. How did Perot get out in June? He was on the ballot in November and got like 20 million votes.

Because he got back in after Labor Day

He actually dropped out on 7/15. That's why that tweet came out when it did.
Didn't Perot say something about having accomplished what he wanted to do and then said he was out?
He called black people "you people" at an NAACP conference. Hahaha....not the savviest of political moves. His numbers dropped like a rock and he got out shortly after.

Never knew that. But it makes sense now because I couldn't understand how Clinton had such a big lead in that graphic that was posted above, but went on to only win the popular vote 43% to Bush's 37%....with Perot taking 19%.
I'd love to read a good, non-biased study on Perot's impact in 1992. We're pretty much all in agreement that if Ralph Nadar doesn't run in 2000, then Gore wins. But with 1992, I've heard arguments somewhat down partisan lines: Democrats suggesting that Clinton would've won with or without Perot running, and Republicans suggesting that Perot cost Bush.

There are circumstance to all of the big shifts. This time, the circumstances could be different. But the need to be on guard and not be complacent still applies. Trump has a fantastic add right now about de-funding the police (calling 911 and getting a voicemail message with a five-day wait). It's BS, but it should be effective. Could be this year's Willie Horton.

It's been airing for weeks...meanwhile Biden's lead has remained the same.
It's all about the Coronavirus and Trump gets abysmal marks on his handling of it. Even among Republicans his numbers are way down.

That ad is stupid as wherever it’s airing, the images are not the reality and I’m guessing that most people still see their local PO PO on patrol doing what local PO PO do.

The other stupid thing about it is they are images from Trump's America right now, yet Trump is trying to tell us that that's what it's going to be like in Biden's America. He thinks he is Nixon in '68 but forgot Nixon wasn't the incumbent.

Yes! That's the point I make all the time! Trump is going to protect us from violence and China? Wtf, is he waiting season 2 before he starts?

At least in 2016 he had a message that made sense, in a nonsensical way. Now? No. Not even close.

Team Trump Treason, the very stable genius, player of 4D chess, full of brilliant brilliance in all its brilliancy, can’t even articulate why he should be re-elected or what his agenda will be for the next four years. Deplorables will say it don’t matter, because Hillary, emails, Obama, Benghazi, masks, etc. suckers.
Now that he has literally created a private armed militarized police unit does anyone think we will actually have an election?
Not a legitimate one anyhow. I firmly believe he will be president for 4 more years.
The results are fake I did not lose. PACT will be rounding up dissenters and recounting the votes. You will see that I actually won very bigly. Any protests and dissent are just organized violent aggressive actions by antifa and will be treated as such. It’s gonna be a tremendous second term America.
Trump refusing to admit he lost is only part of the concern. His kicking and screaming won't matter much if Republican politicians and voters refuse to go along for the ride. I'd like to think they won't, but we haven't seen much from them indicating that.

Really good read about how Biden has incorporated left policies, but couching them in moderate language. For those of you really interested in policy, this is a good read. I'd be interested in hearing @static111 view, considering he is definitely left of me and several of us. https://www.vox.com/21322478/joe-biden-overton-window-bidenism
I said it before but it amazes me how the right attacks Biden for verbal gaffes and misspeaks....given the same coming out of the orange idiot.
Projection is Imbedded in most of their attacks.

I have been very impressed with how far left the Biden team has been willing to go. I realize that without a huge amount of popular support a green new deal or Sanders platform is untenable. It’s nice to see some overtures to the left and as the “Overton Window” shifts it will be easier to move a little further to the left. There is a lot of work to try to repair massive deregulation, tax cuts for the wealthy, an eroding infrastructure and a threadbare social safety net. I’m hoping that with Biden moving to the left it is only the first step. As his policies become more to my liking I feel better that I am voting Biden and not just voting against trump.

'12, '04, '96, '92, and '84 are the examples to pay attention to. Trump is poised for an historic loss at the moment.
Also worth noting that there are tons more pollsters today than before and polling, despite what people think, is a lot more accurate today as well.

What's clear is he doesn't have the support of the military and the "deep state".
I'm way more worried about outside influence on the election, dirty tricks, covid affect and voter suppression in swing states.

trump told chris wallace the last 5 questions were very hard and that he does not think that wallace can get them right.
wallace then said "one of the questions is to count backwards from 100 by 7..."
haha
one of the tests i have seen online asks the test taker to identify the elephant from a choice of 3 different animals...
