The oil thing? Getting off oil by a goal of 2050 will turn the votes of Pennsylvania?
I think that was the most "brave" moment. I don't want the US to have cheap gasoline or a thriving oil industry. Call me an america-hater if you want to.
Convince the voters of your (brave) ways, instead of sucking up like a politician. Raise the voters. Don't lower yourself.

Interesting read on covid’s impact on employment. Manufacturing jobs were hit hard at the onset and replaced by automation and not likely to return. Those folks ended up in the service industry with a substantial reduction in wages. Think Team Trump Treason Tax Cheat is aware?
agreed. still need everyone to still get out there and vote. i wish biden would have driven that point home at this debate. "doesn't matter who's ahead in the polls, it won't matter unless you vote"
I already voted and my confidence levels are high. Sue me.

i thought biden did what he needed to do. spoke directly to the american people and then trump mocked him for it. true sociopath that one.
trump repeatedly tried to make it about hunter biden, but the moderator shut him down several times. he tried to get biden upset and bait him into a confrontation but biden took the high road. i so badly wanted biden to deflect from hunter by saying "lets discuss ivanka and eric and their conflicts and hatch act violations" but it may be better for the average voter that biden took the high road. the average voter does not know what the hatch act is, so this may have confused people.
i think trump on the whole did a better job of keeping his temper in check, but he did try to interrupt that one time and had his mic cut. trump did not do what he needed to do to attract voters. this is obvious by looking at the several post debate polls that are out there. cnn had those 11 undecided voters and they asked them who won afterward. 9 said biden, 0 said trump, and 2 called it a draw.
my favorite moment was when trump said he was as good or better for african americans than abe lincoln. biden sarcastically pointed at trump with his thumb and said "abraham lincoln here is the most racist president in modern history" and trump did not get the sarcasm. reminded me of something out of a bugs bunny cartoon.

i also liked how when trump chided biden several times by asking "why did you not get it done when you had 8 years?" biden finally said "we had a republican congress. that is the answer."
so true.
biden could have also said, " i was not the president and i have not held public office the last 4 years" to some of trump's questions, but he didn't.

Yeah. I was wondering why Biden never broached that subject, but it is obvious it is by design. Polling was clear that the public was disgusted with the shit slinging circus that was the other debate. Biden only needed to stay the course and he did just that.

I think in the long-term, it's great that the Trump and Republican alliance is still strong while the trajectory has swiftly moved towards catastrophe, and I think when Biden can effectively make them out to be one entity, it'll serve well in down-ballot races. Nothing would make me happier than to see both stripped of their power.

A very large bed, the biggest bed, the largest bed ever, supported by American made steel Ibeams.

i wonder if ivanka, don jr, and eric were there? they were in the front row at the other debate. i think it makes it harder to talk smack on people when they are sitting there staring at you.

Melania Was Caught Literally RIPPING Her Hand Away from Trump After the Debate
what is going to happen in the next 10 days that is going to swing this thing to the republicans? none of the october surprises have changed anything.
i am worried we are going to have a terrorist attack. that is the only thing that could save trump.
Swinging in the Republicans' favor is after the votes come in they will cry it's rigged.
More to the point - I'm curious to know what everyone here, everyone involved in the Biden/Trump threads, everyone that's been caught up in the hysteria of how bad this president is to the point of becoming unhinged themselves, are going to do if Trump loses? Do you just go back to burying your head in the sand, feeling like the headache is over, and go back to being blissfully ignorant? Because it's not a coincidence that Trump is president, we're at this point because of a myriad of reasons that are valid and legitimate. I just hope people stay engaged beyond this and know that voting for House seats, Senate seats, state legislature seats are just as - if not more - important. Because if old Joe becomes president, and then everyone lets off the gas pedal, then the R's are still gonna come out and vote and those Dem House & Senate elections will receive less votes. Then we're back to gridlock (I mean, if the Dems don't get a majority in all three branches there will be gridlock anyhow, but still...).

Why? To avoid them? To harass them? To see if they match the sex offender map (that would actually be interesting data). I checked my area and there were people that donated thousands...crazy. It is interesting, but I hope people would not use this as a means to target or hurt people as I’m sure there is a map like this for Biden donors too.

I’ve been voting and supporting third parties since before I could vote. Also been out in the streets at community organizing events, doing what I can to advocate and try to educate coworkers related es etc. I doubt that voting for a presidential candidate that is less progressive than I would like is going to get me to play ostrich at this point in my life.

I don't know. I think there's something very mental to this whole thing - I get the vibe, on the whole, people are going to be excessively relieved and go back to thinking "both sides are to blame." Because the toothe paste ain't going back in the tube. Trump, as is said, isn't the cause but the symptom.
I also think there's a difference between being informed and wanting to debate on the internet, and being informed and getting literally involved on the local level (this isn't meant to be said as a sleight in the least). It's not a coincidence that turnout during non-Presidential elections are much lower. And it's a goddamn shame.

The problem is, human nature, especially in a society filled with smart phone, kardashians, and netflix.... to disengage in politics, especially when your 'side' is in power. The opposition usually comes back in full force and we kid of get a yo-yo. The yo-yo isnt entirely a bad thing, and one of the reasons this whole power grab by the Republicans is terrifying.
I know me personally, I engage and vote in every election. Actually registered Democrat a few years ago to give myself a chance to vote more (NY has closed primaries). I became involved in some grassroots stuff in my town but backed out due to it being a snake pit.... I actually think I will end up running for town office at some point though. Most people here are engaged. (Unfortunately), we are becoming the older population who votes.

turnout, especially democratic turnout, has always been low in off year elections. it was way up in 2018. i do not think it is going anywhere. especially when the trumpian politicians start running for seats in 2022. people know we need to stomp that shit out.
if you take things like elections for granted, you can't be surprised when trumpian candidates take over again. we all have to stay diligent and motivated.
