There’s still Lindsey Flimsy Flip Flop Faloozy Graham’s senate panel looking into the origins of Crossfire Hurricane though. That’s all those shits know, how to ask dumb questions with no basis in reality. Where’s that health care plan?

    Yeah....big news this morning

    1. Hunter Biden's position was "problematic" but nothing to see there
    2. DHS awarded millions in contracts to a company that has connections to DHS chair's wife.

I wonder which one Fox will talk about more.

Yep. This one came out 6 days prior to debate 1. I would expect Durham's bullshit report out prior to the third debate.

And then a totally safe and not politically timed vaccine announcement prior to the election!

The fix is already in. We are soooo fucked. From the NYT.

    How Trump can win
Across the political spectrum, many Americans are obsessed with the idea that President Trump will pull off another surprise victory this November. Today, I want to look at how such a victory might happen.

If recent polls are perfectly accurate, Joe Biden will win comfortably, taking both the Upper Midwest and several Sun Belt states. But they may not be.
The state-by-state polls could be off in a systematic way, as they were in 2016, when they underestimated Trump’s white working-class support. Pollsters have tried to fix that problem, and there is no reason to believe they have failed, as The Times’s Nate Cohn says. But polling is an inexact science, made harder by the decline in landline phones.

The bigger issue is that the campaign isn’t over, and Trump could gain support in the final weeks. One possibility is that the coming Supreme Court confirmation battle will sway some conservative voters who are dissatisfied with Trump. If the campaign were a referendum on his presidency, they might vote for Biden. If the confirmation battle instead gets them thinking about whether they’re conservative or liberal, they could come home to Trump.

The Upshot’s polling scorecard offers a useful way to think about this: Trump will narrowly win re-election if the results differ from the current polls by as much (and in the same direction) as the 2016 results differed from the final polls.

In this scenario, he would probably still lose the popular vote. But he would win all the states where he leads or trails very narrowly, like Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, Ohio — and Arizona, where most polls show him trailing but a new ABC/Washington Post poll this morning shows a virtual tie. Even with those, Trump would need one more, and the most likely seems to be Pennsylvania, where Biden’s lead has hovered around 5 percentage points.
Only a few years ago, Pennsylvania was more Democratic than the country as a whole, but it has shifted right, driven by its large number of white residents without a college degree. Trump is trying to appeal to them by emphasizing both many Democrats’ hostility to fracking (Biden’s own position is more nuanced) and the coronavirus lockdown imposed by the state’s Democratic governor, according to The Times’s Trip Gabriel, who has reported from the state.

Notably, Trump trails in Pennsylvania by less than he does in Wisconsin or Michigan, two other states he won in 2016. “Pennsylvania has to be troubling the Biden campaign,” Trip says.

A Trump victory may end up involving another factor: disputed mail ballots. (Thomas Edsall, a Times Opinion writer, lists those ballots as one of five reasons for Biden to worry.)

The Trump campaign has consistently tried to make voting more difficult, believing that low turnout benefits the president. Last week, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court sided with the campaign and ruled that election officials could not count mailed ballots that arrived in only a single envelope, rather than including a second “secrecy” envelope.
One local official told The Philadelphia Inquirer that the ruling could lead to more than 100,000 completed ballots being thrown out — or between 1 and 2 percent of the total likely to be cast.

to the last bolded part. theres still time to enact rules that allow for correcting any errors. Ohio has adopted this. its more work for the county boards making contact, but ensures those who tried to vote get counted.

THIS idea came from our GOP Sec of State....

i just read that mike tyson is voting for the first time, because up until 2019, nevada (and many other states) strip a person's right to vote if convicted of a crime. wtf? what the fuck does voting have to do with committing a crime??

i honestly never knew this law existed. the current estimate is that means up to 6 million citizens are ineligible to vote. that's insane.

yeah. its a state by state thing. in many once you've completed your sentence most rights are restored like voting. ability to exercise your 2A right is generally not. Fla last year voters amended their constitution to allow felons to vote when sentence was complete. previous a felon went before a board to apply for restoration. 99% of the time they were denied with no reason needed to be given.

THEN Fla gop passed a law saying all fines etc must be paid first before a felon could vote. Stopped most from voting.

THEN BLOOMBERG this week paid all fines and costs for those men and women, restoring their voting rights....

I worked on a voting restoration initiative for felons  in MN, maybe 2011-2012. Brought groups of folks with convictions to the Capitol to meet with legislators. The GOP folks were something else. Grandstanding, explaining the importance of not doing drugs and being responsible for one’s actions, talking to grown adults like children, blah, blah, blah... Anyways, legislation got passed to restore voting rights once sentencing was complete.

On a visit to the Smithsonian American History Museum on my last trip to DC a couple years ago, I found a button for the coalition I worked with displayed in a Civil Rights exhibit. Pretty cool.

Is everybody ready to vote in person yet?  Do the benefits of in person voting outweighs the risk of covid?  Is the safety of mail in votinG worth potentially having your ballot dumped by Donald “if you get rid of the ballots there will be no transition of power” Trump.  The virus is here we’ve all been forced back to work, our kids are being forced back to schools we are all at risk, huge turnout in person may be the only indisputable path to victory.

me too. my signature has changed over the years, wanna make sure I do it right. Although SoS made a change this year here in ohio, if an absentee ballot has any errors, rather than reject it outright the relevant couty is to try and contact the voter and give an opportunity  to correct the error.

Forgot to mention it earlier, I voted early, in person this afternoon. Took an hour and ten minutes from the time I got in line till out the door. Basically it was the same process as voting absentee. It wasn’t nuts, but for every person out the door, another showed up to get in line. Things were good with social distancing, masks. No security, bunch of seniors running things, but also no ding-songs in red hats.

I’d never been more ready or angry to cast a ballot in my life.

If you really want Bernie voters the best thing might be to reach out and not have your surrogates vote shame, Also don’t go on national TV and say I’m not a socialist I beat the socialist, that’s how I got the nomination.  By all means keep on courting the mythical moderate republicans rather than trying to strengthen the left by building a coalition..
There are non-socialist democrats that are far from mythical.  I'm one of them.
What I mean to say is that for people and a party as a whole that love to cry foul about losing elections due to Bernie and his voters they sure aren’t courting them.  You can’t say Bernie voters cost the election if you don’t do anything to get them besides say Orange man bad not voting is a vote for Trump.  I understand not everyone is as left as I am, but to discount the coalition that is claimed to have cost the 2016 election just seems like a dumb move.

Enjoy the conservative court for the next 2112 years :)

Garbage. I wonder if you’ve looked at Sleepy Woke Joe Basement Biden’s policy positions, despite claiming to vote for him?

Yes I have.  I actually like how far left SWJBB’s move toward the left on a number of issues from student loans to healthcare.  My problem is more to do with ignorant comments like Enjoy the conservative courts for the next 2112 years  that come from real Dems (whatever that is).  And the other stupid messaging that comes from various high level to grassroots Dems that think alienating a block of several million voters that are needed if you are gonna beat TTT yo

They deserve to be alienated for putting their greediness over the good of the party and the nation. Either get on board, quit fucking whining and work within the party to get what you want. Bunch of cry babies that want to be groveled to. And if you can’t do that, vote and belong to the socialist party and see where you and the country are in 20 years. You = General you, not you personally.

I plan on voting in person. Early if my area allows it. Still need to look into that.
