Are you serious with the “yes”? I mean people are dying.  Or is this just finding the silver lining to a bad situation?
silver lining : I just scooped up a bunch of int'l stocks on discount this morning

    buybuybuy
Hope you held off on the buybuybuy.
    like catching a falling knife

bought more each day this week

yes my portfolio is down a touch, but not nearly as bad as the rest of the market
Good to hear your not taking too much of a beating.

I'm thinking about investing myself, just don't know when to jump in. I suspect it's going to get worse yet.
I think it still has some downward action in it. And that's before an actual recession hits (although this could very well be the catalyst).  End of the day, unless you need the money in 5 years or less, no reason to sit on the sidelines too long.
I can't stop looking even though I shouldn't look.... to think of what I could have done with that $... ;)

    Definitely stub hub MSG

It is amazing the chaotic decision tree that is being climbed with this virus.  Compared exactly to the novel H1N1 just a decade ago.  Japan's PM closing of schools was basically counter intuitive and without direction from Health Officials.   Just sorta of was like, "Hey, close the schools."   And meanwhile is now backtracking.

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-china-health-japan/japan-pm-triggers-uproar-with-call-to-close-all-schools-as-hokkaido-declares-coronavirus-emergency-idUSKCN20M0AM

I think the message that we all need to really focus on is to remain calm and use common sense.  Focus on spreading 4-5 key thing to know and focus on while in public, such as ...

    * If sick, wear a mask if in contact with others.  Remain as isolated as possible until healthy

    * Keep aware of your hands in public.

    * Wash your hands

If it gets bad in the future then we can worry about more (i'm sure very smart professionals are hard at work right now), but for now the best way to stop spread is to follow simple rules.

And most importantly, just live your life

Excellent advice, Jason.  Also a good idea to keep one's fingers out of the nose, mouth, eyes.

Relax folks.  This from Johns Hopkins:

It’s simply wise to be informed and take precautions when able. That does not equate to panic. Just common sense, like with the flu or simple hygiene.

I went out this afternoon and stocked up on some stuff. Just stuff like canned chicken noodle soup and vegetables. Wouldn’t hurt to have a supply in the case a situation actually arises where it’s really unsafe to leave the house. And if that doesn’t happen, then I’ll have some supply in the event of some future catastrophe. If none ever comes, I only wasted a hundred dollars.

That's not good. That's my local hospital. Lots of people freaking out around here. Big run on Costco yesterday and today. Crazy.
Apparently some 50 year Old woman that was high risk...must have had lots of health issues

Coronavirus is going to disproportionately affect the elderly.

Are we finally going to see that trickle down economics we were promised?

    Don't for get the t.p.!

Hey, don't laugh.  I always keep extra t.p. on hand.  The weeds in our yard are too scratchy!
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

I’d be lying if I said that I’ve never finished a round of golf minus one sock.
