We are in Angkor Wat Cambodia now, was in Hanoi last week.  Neither of these places have many confirmed cases.....However,  the locals are very wigged out by this whole ordeal..75% of the people wearing masks that are being given out for free on street corners..... Luckily for the travelers in these 2 countries they have locked down the borders 2 week ago not allowing any Chinese people in or anyone that has been through China in the last few months.  It’s been a challenge for some travelers, but the ones that got to their destination have had the resorts and sights all to themselves.  Our tour guide today in Angkor Wat told us today that we are lucky since Places like Angkor Wat have been overrun by the Chinese  In the past 5-10 years and she has never in her life seen this place deserted like it was today....It was quite special having this sacred ground all to ourselves and quiet.  However it sure has been a HUGE hit to Tourism in the countries that are essentially owned by China....

Are you serious with the “yes”? I mean people are dying.  Or is this just finding the silver lining to a bad situation?

Well of course because it's a silver lining.

Also, 1 million Chinese people die prematurely due to pollution.  Who knows how many in surrounding countries and how many globally due to climate change.

Not as scary as a bug and we need our stuff.

Looked at totally objectively, the best thing for this planet (including the human species) would be a good, walloping pandemic leading to a huge reduction in population.  On this matter, I find it difficult to be objective.  I don't want to die or lose loved ones.

I agree. while it would be devastating to our race, it sure would actually give our race some hope of sustainability.

Didn't you make the same comment about 2 weeks ago? And yet here we are, more deaths and it's spread a lot further. This is already a lot worse than SARS.

Nobody should underestimate the threat, and I'm glad to see it's mostly being taken seriously. Pandemics do happen.

thanks for cataloging my posts. it's very helpful. yes, pandemics do happen. again, thank you. and yes, after I said that I fully expected the virus to stop dead in its tracks and affect a total of zero other humans.

    Nice response.

I'm curious, are you a virologist or have any professional qualifications to back your claim that this will end like SARS?
