Wow- no shit!  The another creep come crawling out of the woodwork!

California's ski industry is getting pounded too.  Heavenly, Kirkwood, Sugar Bowl, Squaw Valley, Big Bear, Mammouth- holy crap- all the great ones had to shut down (makes sense though) - and just when we are finally getting lots of great snow.  A tough break for our ski folks.

Never thought I’d hear someone refer to Big Bear as one of “the great ones”

I was just talking in generalities.  Most of those ski resorts are first-rate.  I don't ski any more but at one time or another I've done most of them and they truly are fine places for skiing.
I know, was mostly kidding. Grew up in LA until I was 30. My parents had a cabin in BB we’d go to about 10-15 times a year. That was really all I knew until I moved to Colorado 8 years ago. Now BB seems almost like a joke compared to out here. And I do fear for these communities a lot more. Big Bear can survive without skiing for a season, not sure how some of these communities will do.

Exactly, essentially “go get them on your own if it’s faster”.  Not “get them on your own because we will not give you any” as inferred by the headline.

    Yes it is
And when you support evil in any way, shape,  or form, including voting, that makes you evil as well.
What does taking things out of context to try and make someone’s actions appear evil make you?  I would say...”evil”.  Maybe read up on what was actually meant by the “get it yourselves” statement?

Colorado must have some incredible skiing!   How cool that you can ski there.  Are your ski resorts closing as well?

Governor annnounced Saturday they will all close. Probably will remain that way for the rest of the season. I’m super bummed because this is the first year I ever bought a pass. Only sent a couple times planning on spending a spring break trip and about 1 day every weekend in April when it’s warmer. So ended up being pretty much a waste of money for me.

Just crazy picturing NYC closing down at 8 PM!

I think I'll order take out at least now and then (cooked food only) to help keep some of our restaurants going.

$1000 bucks isn’t doing much if we are out of work for potentially months
Why are people complaining about this? We don’t know how long people will be out of work. This just says immediately send $1000, maybe there’s more.
And from the looks of it, most businesses still look open and many others are working from home. Seems unnecessary to send it to every American adult. Should be an application process where you prove you unwillingly missed work due to this. Most adults would probably get zero and those who need it may get more. But at this point I doubt very many, or any, are even out the $1000 yet. It’s been less than a week since places started putting in heavy restrictions. So why complain? It just gives credit to the argument “no matter what republicans can never do any good.”

^ If they want to send $1,000 to every adult, I'd gladly forego mine to put it into the hands of a server, bartender, minimum wage employee, small business owner, etc. that is getting impacted by this and needs it more than I do.  Hopefully there will be an option for that.

kind of agree but remember republicans are against socialism.  Also agree with bbiggs. some will need this a lot more than others.  the scary part for people in these service industries, whether owners or just workers, is right now we have no idea how long they will be closed. this is mostly likely going to last at least 2 months. long time to be out of work.

Sorry to hear, Mike, It is the real deal, and it seems like more and more are getting that message finally. I know for a while it was a just an abstract thing, or localized to some far off place. Even when it hit the US it was "just" up in my area, so people weren't grasping the seriousness. But it is probably everywhere at this point, and people need to change their behavior whether they're personally affected or not, because without a change in behavior, they will be affected. Latest numbers in my county are 488 cases with 43 deaths. I know we got hit first, but these are the kinds of numbers plenty of other counties will see soon if people continue to socialize and spread it around.

^ No doubt! Tree pollen is currently high in my area, and I've had some symptoms that I'm assuming are normal allergies for this time of year, but I can't deny my mind goes to the dark place once in a while with the virus concern.

Same here, guys.  We're not supposed to go out anyway (and I'm not) but I probably wouldn't anyway with my allergies making me snuffle.  I don't want to freak any body out, and it's safer here at home.

And yeah, as for watching the news, I'm with you there- gotta cut back on it.  I'm definitely going to cut back on doing that.  No really, I will.  Oh yeah, any time now, seriously, I mean it.  Like tomorrow or the next day or... you know soon, real soon! Really!

This is funny, but in all seriousness, if this country was prepared to properly test people, it would take the guess work out.  I have a close friend who fears he may have the virus (has a son with asthma in the house too).  Showing all the symptoms, but on a mild level, so he literally has no way of knowing.  He could be self-quarantining for nothing and fearing the worst for nothing.

I totally want to unplug from the news, but I don't see that happening if I'm being honest with myself.  I'm going to try starting a new series on Netflix or something tonight.  I told my wife we need to get our minds off of this for a while.
