Well, public transit is kind of an essential service and it appears there is it least a mask mandate. Even so, you can't compare people packed in bars and sitting in restaurants maskless noshing on food for an hour to someone riding a bus with a mask on for what, 15 minutes on average? You can see the difference, right?
Well if people get the luxury of riding a public bus to work,  school,  grocery store,  then why can't I get smashed in a bar 5 days a week.  It makes no sense.

Riding public transit is a luxury?  Whoa!  Man, where you live?  I wanna be there!
It's a luxury compared to how I grew up...

Here's some comic relief on the topic.  The Nuge' is upset that we're locking down for Covid-19 but didn't lock down for the previous 18.

a guy at my work, who has since gone all Q on his conspiracy theories about the motivation for lockdowns (the government is preparing us for a future pandemic that they know is coming and will be catastrophic in nature), also said this. Covid-19 is the worst, but sometimes I think people downplay how awful Covid-6 and Covid-11 were.  Covid-8 was so mild, I'm not sure it should have been a Covid.

Ontario is considering moving all school boards to online learning and introducing a curfew?

These are the days of our lives in Ontario...we have a fat ass premier running this province like a reality show.  They can not not just get their act together...

Don’t come to Ontario if you do not have to.

just to be clear, there is no need for online learning  in most of the province, or is there a need for a curfew...just in the hotspots.  I  am not in a hotspot...

but Toronto is the centre of the universe, so we all have to suffer in fucking lockdown....GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER TORONTO!!!
2 health orders from your province over the weekend suspended non essential surgery and increase permissions to move hospital patients to other spaces that have resources remaining. 27% of ON schools have cases, considered variants, which spread to entire families with young patients getting sicker in greater amounts,  requiring more resources. I am wondering what your announcement in a few minutes will be, too, but I could wager a bet if I was a gambling woman.

I think Kellyanne Conway made a similar statement some time last year as well. In her case I figured it was intentional to try and minimize things while knowing full well the meaning of the name. Right out of the DJT Covid playbook.

Nuge on the other hand I think was either ill informed or just too dumb to know the reason the name is Covid-19.

Thanks for reminding me to book a trail ride before that gets the axe! Gather thee roses while thee may... were taking a scalpel approach to keeping business open by only shutting down those with 3+ cases. For now

The optics are more concerning than the reality. I don't think the media is savvy enough to frame this for what it is; a risk on one of the three vaccines that is like 1/1000 the risk of a blood clot with COVID. The pause is OK, but the worst part is that it's likely to scare some uncertain people off from any vaccine. Kinda like when I was a kid in the 1980s and older folks that grew up without seatbelts would not wear them because they heard a story about someone being trapped in their car by a seatbelt. The math was against them, but they were primed for an excuse.
