Trump kept saying victory over the coronavirus was near. Then he got sick.

“I had no choice because I just didn’t want to stay in the White House. I was given that alternative. Stay in the White House. Lock yourself in. Don’t ever leave. Don’t even go to the Oval Office. Just stay upstairs and enjoy it. Don’t see people. Don’t talk to people, and just be done with it. And I can’t do that. I had to be out front.”
The president, now ill with covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, argued in a video message from his hospital suite that he had “no choice” but to actively campaign before large crowds and mingle with people (without social distancing or the use of masks).
He indicated he would not change his behavior going forward: “I look forward to finishing up the campaign the way it was started and the way we’ve been doing and the kind of numbers that we’ve been doing. We’ve been so proud of it.”
The president’s upbeat message in the face of stubborn facts is in keeping with the way he has discussed the pandemic since the first signs of the novel coronavirus emerged in January. Month after month, as the death toll climbed, the president has proclaimed that success was just around the corner and that his administration has done a terrific job in confronting the pandemic. Here’s a sampling.
January
“We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. We have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.”
“A lot of people think that goes away in April with the heat — as the heat comes in. Typically, that will go away in April. We’re in great shape, though. We have 12 cases — 11 cases, and many of them are in good shape now.”
“It’s a little like the regular flu that we have flu shots for. And we’ll essentially have a flu shot for this in a fairly quick manner.”
March
“We had a great meeting today with a lot of the great companies, and they’re going to have vaccines. I think relatively soon, and they’re going to have something that makes you better, and that’s going to actually take place, we think, even sooner.”
“So I think Easter Sunday, and you’ll have packed churches all over our country. I think it would be a beautiful time. And it’s just about the timeline that I think is right.”
“We continue to gain ground in the war against the unseen enemy, and I see light at the end of the tunnel. I actually see a lot of light at the end of the tunnel.”
“You will never hear this on the Fake News concerning the China Virus, but by comparison to most other countries, who are suffering greatly, we are doing very well - and we have done things that few other countries could have done!”
My wife told me something she read that goes basically like this:
Stop asking people if they believe in COVID-19 and ask them is they understand it. It's science, not Santa Claus.
I thought that was global warming? 😂
Leave it to me to fuck up a joke.
Sounds to me like it was probably something with the way your wife relayed it to you. 😂🤣 Still applies and there are probably several other things you could fill in the blank when talking about these dolts.
You are too kind, Dewie. I'm pretty sure it was told to me by my wife as "global warming"! But yes, come to think of it, both work!
Claudia Conway is positive. Nice, responsible parenting Kellyanne.
Kayleigh McEnany now too
Boom, boom, boom... one after another.
Hello right wing America, are you awake yet?
They don't like the idea of being "woke" but they have had "the Great Awakening" so who knows.

i heard today that new zealand has declared victory over the virus. no new positives in the last 12 days. only 40 cases in the entire country right now. trump has that many in his cabinet.

That, I am not arguing against.
Still scared about this virus ravaging the poorer parts of the world.

NZ is not a 3rd world country...not even close.
He doesn't say that.

i could see why you thought he was referring to NZ as a third world country, but he wasn't.
for your information..NZ the best leader on this planet.

In August, NZ went 102 days with zero cases.
Then they started getting a few a day from then til now.
The cases were not traced to international travel, but to a cold storage warehouse.
Thats chilling.
Comparing the US to NZ is not fair. Only in a place like America do we elect and unqualified idiot. Only in America do we do nothing when assault weapons kill school children repeatedly. Only in America do we look to have more women dying in back alleys like they did before 1972. Yet these are the central tenants for that idiot’s voters.

been having some symptoms (not serious) the past several days, so went and got tested. not nearly as bad as i thought it was going to be. just noticed a slight pain in my sinus where the long swab went, but beyond that, it's just this really thin swab they put up your nose pretty far, but no pain, just a weird feeling. hold it there for 5 or so seconds. and done.

Interesting....I thought they did away with the long swabs. My daughter got hers (tested positive last Tues) and it was just a small swab inside both nostrils. Drive thru test at CVS.
She had no symptoms but did say she thinks she lost some sense of smell.
She is retesting today.
