That’s really the best course of action unless you want to get in a screaming match and have them tell you about being triggered or something.

I’m really worried about the next pandemic, especially if it is worse.  Imagine if this was the plague etc. After this precedence has been set what happens going forward?  Even if joe is elected and reestablishes pandemic preparedness I’m not sure we will even be able to rely on each other let alone the state and local governments and the financial sectors.

Just imagine if they don’t come up with an effective vaccine.  Tiptoe through the decline
Agreed.  Trump has corrupted and polluted the minds of 35% of Americans.  I don't know how you come back from that.

I don't know how it is that so many millions of people can be so easily persuaded by an evil man to support him, or stupid enough to think what he does is in their best interest.  Knowing there are that many of those people out there is very disturbing.

It seems funny to call it a cult. But it has many properties of that. I really believe a lot of people have long forgotten whatever principles they had that got them to voting (in most cases) republican in the first place. Some of those things may have even made sense (even though I did not share the opinions/philosophies). Now, though?  It's so much about Trump.  They don't even seem to care about the impacts on themselves, much less other people or the country as a whole.  They care about Trump.  Well, they also care about owning the libs. The balance between how much they care about the cult's leader vs. owning the libs might be an important one. Ironically, their dedication to Trump might have a silver lining in that one way or the other, he's going to be gone in the near future. Maybe after the cult leader is gone, there's a path back to normal?  However, if owning the libs the more important thing, then I question whether we'll ever get back to normal. Right wing news loves to own the libs.

So is Sweden the only (western) country that doesn't have and never have had a forced (or even sternly recommended) facemask usage?

Open your borders to American and Indian tourists, then we’ll talk.
Last time we had our borders open to Americans General Motors bought and then destroyed SAAB like some repeat of Flint Michigan, so just as long as we are careful. :)

Best (only good?) part of Tenet was the SAAB

  • From the Team Trump Treason propaganda email blast. However, I would ask, to what end? And, does their editor or proofreader know how to add? I guess the missing 6 million go to the Team Trump Treason organization or they "fell off the truck?" So, test kits get distributed, can test results be provided within the time frames required? Then what? to what end?

Trump Announces Distribution of 150m Rapid Coronavirus Tests

“President Trump announced on Monday that his administration will distribute 150 million Abbott coronavirus tests that produce results in just 15 minutes,” Cassidy Morrison writes for the Washington Examiner.

Trump said that 50 million tests would go to the most vulnerable communities: 18 million to nursing homes, 15 million to assisted living facilities, 10 million for hospice care providers, and nearly 1 million to historically black colleges and universities and colleges in tribal nations. Another 100 million tests will be allocated to states and territories to support efforts to reopen their economies and schools.”

"This means that restaurants can have entertainment in the form of, for example, musicians performing even if there are more than 50 guests in the restaurant."

Restaurants are removed from the public gathering rule, and goes by rules of separating/spreading out tables, not being allowed to order by the bar, everyone having to sit down and be served by the table etc.

And yes, I have a table booked for an Indian restaurant in Stockholm on Friday that is suppose to have great vegan food. I'm eyeing the vegan palak paneer.

Naw, I'm abit worried. And just read that numbers are raising in Sthlm. So hopefully I'm going just in time to avoid being there when it is really bad.

And will avoid the subway/crowded places as good as I can.

I've got a friend in the hospital right now (or at least as of a couple of days ago) getting oxygen.  He'd fit in well on this thread; knows the seriousness, masks, distancing, staying home, etc.  Meanhwhile one of our MAGA friends acts like nothing has changed (except when he's whining that he can't take his trip to Banff) and...nothing.  Covid 19 is random and has NO sense of poetic justice.

Hope your friend fully recovers. I keep hearing of lingering negative side effects.
Nothing serious thankfully, my wife and I just got taste and smell back after almost 7 weeks. And it’s not even 100% still.
Glad to hear you are coming out on the other side of it!

Wow. That is a long time. My sense of smell and taste was only gone for about 10 days before it started coming back. I think it was fully back within 2 weeks. I am glad you and your wife are doing better.

So what were your initial symptoms?

Thanks everyone! Yes it’s a “minor” thing but it sucks! Even worse, somethings taste weird or off when your taste starts to come back. My wife still can’t enjoy coffee and we’re big coffee drinkers.

My dad died of pancreatic cancer and while his quality of life was diminishing in so many ways, he pointed out that you just don't realize how much the taste of food matters until you cannot taste it.

100%. I hate complaining about that symptom because compared to severe cases I may come off bad. But it SUCKS not tasting food. I started to get nervous because it lasted so long. Luckily it’s coming back.

I used to work with a man who permanently lost his sense of taste during and after cancer. The guy adored food too, shared some exquisite meals with him.

I can’t imagine that, nor not being able to smell. The olfactory sense is so powerful.

I’ve learned - well, still learning - that you can’t compare. Your pain or suffering is your own.

Glad to know you got through the worst of it, nick.
