The arguments made against this are so fucking dumb.
And "lefties would love another shut down" is quite possibly the most ridiculous thing I have read in a while.  Nobody wants a shut down.  Everyone (should) wants to see the most well calculated course of action taken to save lives, slow the spread, and keep things going

Politicizing a pandemic is one of the worst things this idiot in Chief has done.  If he would have done what was responsible it would not be the case and our fight against it would be a unification thing instead of a division thing.

Really you don’t believe that there’s an out of control virus killing hundreds every day? Damn
Did you know that tuberculosis is a pandemic every year? 1.5 million dead/year.
    https://www.tballiance.org/why-new-tb-drugs/global-pandemic
Scroll down and read a little from the CDC.
    Nobody wore masks until covid19.
Now out of respect I wear a mask at the grocery store, hardware store whatever getting a haircut.  Or in a place where there's a condensed group of people.
But Dr. Anthony Fauci said this back in March.
    https://youtu.be/PRa6t_e7dgI
There is a happy medium between overhyping and downplaying this stuff.
Fauci also said they downplayed masks to prevent a shortage for health care workers.

If surgeons wear masks top prevent themselves from spreading germs,  doesn't common sense tell you they reduce risk?
Not only common sense, but also evidence. Didn’t someone just say “follow the science” (or something close to that).

    Where to start with this...
    1) Did you know that tuberculosis had 10,000 cases in the United States in 2018, with an incredibly low mortality rate?
    2) Did you know that there's a WHO plan called "End TB"? It provides operational guidelines to countries to do their part to eliminate the disease (https://www.who.int/tb/strategy/en/)
    3) Have you seen the way CoVID-19 is producing nearly as many fatalities as TB now, even in spite of the significant mitigation efforts, and also independent of economic success to some degree (as in, unlike TB, it's affecting countries like the UK and US)? If your mention of TB is meant to be instructive and not deflective, it'd be wise to mention the correlation between wealth and disease spread. Which leads to the next point...
    4) Did you know that the critical indicators associated with TB are predominantly seen in developing nations? Since you care so much, I do hope you're donating to help these nations become self-sufficient. By and large, they are feeling the TB burden - not you or I in cushy North America. It would also be wise to apply these lessons to ourselves in this CoVID-19 context so we don't have "Pay to live" existences.

I'm too at risk for coronavirus to be able to work at the bookstore any more but I keep up with what's going on there.  We have a friend who comes in and works part-time and she told us a guy came in the store without a mask.  She offered him one to wear and he said, "I'm an American!  I don't need to wear a mask"!  She stood her ground and told him he couldn't come in the store.  Good woman!

The question I have is, what on earth does being an American have to do with it?  What a strange thing to say!
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”

    It's unbelievable.

I was listening to a Dr on the news last night say that we should have stayed on lockdown (clearly) for a few months longer.

The lack of leadership here is outrageous.

    We have a tuberculosis vaccine
    And effective treatments.
Ohh.  And there has been no reason to politicize the yearly TB pandemic.  So even with effective treatments and a vaccine,
X amount die from TB regardless.

So how about getting info @ CDC for Covid19?
    https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/cases-in-us.html
    Cases/day  (July rising)
    Deaths/day (July slowing)
Younger less vulnerable population getting infection on a large scale is what most epidemiologists look forward to = herd immunity.  Which usually occurs befour vaccines are achieved.

    1. Deaths are a lagging data element, not a leading one.  Spikes in cases will lead to spikes in deaths.  Again, common sense.
    2. Data indicates younger people are spreading this current wave.  They will have a lower fatality rate, if it's true that the median age of this wave is lower.

Neither of these prove what you said before that "it's not even considered an epidemic anymore".  Can you please provide some empirical evidence of a health organization that has made that statement for the US?

Yeah, I seen it mentioned that it’s no longer a pandemic/epidemic elsewhere and looked for an explanation and my googler couldn’t pull anything meaningful up.

The level to which the response to the virus has been weaponized is much more frightening and has much greater potential for disaster.

I've yet to see anyone smart from a place highly impacted dismiss this
I hope there are not 350+ people dying a day (like NJ) or 700+ a day (like NY) - if we do see that in CA or AZ or FL I think many of these fucking idiots will change their minds

Course AZ, TX, or FL will probably lie about the cause of deaths some more to minimize

People living in areas not impacted much don't fear it.  I get it.
Respect what science says and what you see....not sure why that is so tough.

Gubner of Florida stated that if Home Depot can be open so can schools. What’s the difference, right? I mean, when I go to Home Depot, I go 5 days a week and spend 6-8 hours there and I leave dumber than the day before.

Sometimes I don't know whether to break something or cry when I read how snide (and even violent) some have become when it comes to this.  COVID doesn't give a shit about your gender, your nationality, your religion, your politics, YOU.

I don't care what, if anything, I may have in common with someone; they reject facts or twist them to somehow appease themselves, I can't help but think of them as fucking idiots.

One thing for sure is- we cannot deny this thing away.  Some people who have tried to deny it away ended up getting it and some of them ended up dying from it.  I have to assume they either made a bad choice or were suicidal.

If COVID19 is a political hit job on Trump, then is there a world wide plot to oust Trump from office because just about every country is taking COVID19 seriously.  Silly argument.

This!  It's so bizarre to hear that argument.

Or any of the arguments stating that the pandemic is a scam.  My reaction is always the same:  "Oh wow!  So whomever created this conspiracy was able to fool the vast majority of scientists and doctor ALL ACROSS THE GLOBE?!  WOW!!! Isn't that something!"

Really you don’t believe that there’s an out of control virus killing hundreds every day? Damn
Did you know that tuberculosis is a pandemic every year? 1.5 million dead/year.

Scroll down and read a little from the CDC.
    Nobody wore masks until covid19.
Now out of respect I wear a mask at the grocery store, hardware store whatever getting a haircut.  Or in a place where there's a condensed group of people.

    We have a tuberculosis vaccine
    And effective treatments.
Ohh.  And there has been no reason to politicize the yearly TB pandemic.  So even with effective treatments and a vaccine,
X amount die from TB regardless.

So how about getting info @ CDC for Covid19?

    Cases/day  (July rising)

Younger less vulnerable population getting infection on a large scale is what most epidemiologists look forward to = herd immunity.  Which usually occurs befour vaccines are achieved.

Ok i will try two enlighten the enlightened about excess covid deaths.
There are quite a few articles about this, but I'm not going to waste my time searching and pasting.
*So the total corona virus death toll in the US is updated and posted on the CDC website for all to see daily. State-by-state county by county.
As the CDC combs through all of te covid19 deaths, they are finding that a sizeable percentage of covid19 blamed deaths are actually caused by other things like accidents, or  entirely unrelated health issues,
For example a 40 year old man is on his roof  cleaning the gutters out.  Stumbles and falls off his roof to the ground and dies on impact.
The man died from neck injuries, but also was found to be positive for Coronavirus in his system, didnt even know he had it. A-Symptomatic they are and have been adding deaths like that to the coronavirus death toll.  Drunk driving crashes car rolls 3 times dead driver.  Tests possitive for Coronavirus add to coronavirus death toll.  And a whole host of other health problems that cause fatalities.
I saw one estimate, nearly 30 percent of Corona virus deaths recorded are actually due to other unfortunate end of life events.  Overtime CDC will revise their numbers.
Having said all that, I don't pretend that it isn't a problem,
I believe that the coronavirus is nothing to sneeze at.

I talked to a Delta pilot that had it.  He had no symptoms....but he had the antibodies.  So not sure if it was a false positive?

Talked to another client that caught it and gave it to his wife.  He said he just had cough and body aches but his wife was very ill.  Not hospitalized but was pretty miserable for a few weeks.

Dude, this garbage take has been around once Trumpets started looking for justification. Seriously as far back as April and was swiftly debunked. It’s how CODs have counted for literally decades.y first thought when I heard it wasn’t about the bogus numbers or a hoax  but the bogus healthcare system that encourages squeezing every last dime out of a patient in life and death.

I won't get tested for the antibodies. Seems like a giant waste of time as I don't think you can trust the tests right now.  Several golfers tested positive for COVID and then tested negative several times.  Too many false reactions.

Provide a reputable source for this roof falling and car accident that was attributed to covid. Also provide a source for the 30% overstated deaths by the CDC.
I listen to a lot of news talk radio stations. National and local radio programs.
The (30% overstated estimate) I heard about was at the top or bottom of the hour news cast a few weeks ago.  I heard that on Newstalk 1130 WISN  Milwaukee.
Falling off of roof, and car accident were examples given. The cdc didn't say that.  But those types of things is what the excess deaths @ the cdc take into account.
And if that's not good enough for you fuck it.
