Great opinion piece in the NY Times today about how to open safely. Echoing previous discussions, the risks of lockdown measures are presented well.

Which causes economic calamity, a deadly illness or a stay at home suggestion? Its definitely not a lockdown :)

Choose carefully because the wrong choice can lead to hundreds of thousands of deaths and continued economic calamity.

Which cause a transfer of wealth? Dying and taking advantage or lockdowns and reduced dying?

The article seems to say that it's the same mechanism as what Pfizer, Oxford, et al are looking at. And oh by the way you can develop it from tobacco. This is my second reference to the underpants gnomes but still....

    Step 1: Harvest tobacco leaves
    Step 2: ?
    Step 3: Coronavirus vaccine

Our county is opening earlier than others here in California.  They say it's because we have a lower case count.  So since we're opening up, maybe someone should put up billboards in areas with higher infections that say, "El Dorado County is open!  Come and dine with us!  Come and shop with us!  Spread the COVID joy!".

    Urgh!  Stupid goddamn people.

Don't apologize!  That wasn't directed at you cutz.  It's more of an indictment against these yahoos.  That woman followed Kevin quite a ways down the sidewalk to continue making her point.

And how about the lady with her 2 very young kids? I don't think that's a place for 2 young children.

Its just a matter of time when some Violent shit goes down at one of these protest, but I HOPE I'm wrong.

I'm shocked violence hasn't occurred yet.  Although I would think it would be between protesters and law enforcement, not the local news...

WTF happened today?  Shit is blowing up everywhere.  Everything opening up all over the place.  Stupid people supporting Trump.  Idiots harassing news reporters.  Mass denial over what is going to happen when the number of cases and deaths rise again.  What a fucking day this is already.

Law enforcement has kept their cool...for the most part, the protestors and cops are similar and generally respect each other.  But the unhinged segment of these protesters...it's media they're far more likely to go after.

Don't worry, when we hit the 2nd peak, there will be lots of blame on the state governors and dismissals of "no one knew this would happen" from our great federal leadership.
    It's a hopeless situation...
