It's just OK. If I heard the exact same thing but it was by a band that wasn't Pearl Jam, I wouldn't listen to it twice. Because it's Pearl Jam, I think it's just OK.

Has anyone made a Talking Heads reference yet?  Trying to remain positive on the song or let it grow on me. Not big on the dance beat drum machine sound. But this band often teamed journeys I’m not ready for musically from them. Sometimes they are hindsight hits for me. Some stay misses...but let the tune digest and set for awhile. Peace.

I am very happy to see so many like it, that is great!  I loved the last two records and people here took giant dumps on them so you never know.
Perhaps I will like the way they do it live.

I like your attitude. I don’t understand people being overly rude about it or not wanting to go to shows anymore. That’s ridiculous to me

Thanks.  I can say that I only strongly dislike 3 songs they have put out over the years...and one of them was a b-side.  Why would I care if I dislike a new song?  Or, which I am sure will not be the case, an album.  I love the overwhelming majority of what they've given us.

People are so dumb.  It sounds like a good thing if they don't want to go to shows, plenty of people would be happy to get their tickets.

Concerned if the whole album sounds like this, but after a few listens it’s growing on me. To be fair, my reaction to the first single from the past 2-3 albums took a while to sink in.

Agreed on all counts.  Particularly the tix.  I am available to buy all tickets from those who are offended by music the band releases.

I think someone made a joke about not wanting to go to shows any more over one song after a glorious 30 year legacy and a mini wave of anger erupted

I can’t select yes or no because I’m in the middle. I like Bowie and appreciate the style and creativity that went into the song, but I’m not into the drums and keys in this one. It’s kind of like You Are imo, which I like as a one off, but wouldn’t want the whole album to be. If it wasn’t PJ, I probably wouldn’t give it too many listens. I keep picturing dark 80’s dance clubs when I hear it, like the scene in the 80’s horror film, Fright Night. Excited to hear the rest of the album and glad the reaction has been mostly positive!

I am so excited that this is NOTHING like I expected. I like backspacer/lb but I think another similar record would’ve been a bit boring. So happy they are pushing their musical boundaries as these guys are all amazing musicians. And I said in another thread I actually hope Gigaton ends up being like No Code and drops off some of the negative “I want grunge, ten/vs/Vitalogy again” fans.

No I don't care for it.  The song vocals and lyrics feel forced.  I am not a fan of the synth or drums.

This doesn't mean that I am throwing away the album.  I do look forward to hearing the new songs live as the vale may be pulled away and a gem is behind this.  I did mention before that I don't like to re-imagine a song but for this one I will have to.

So I heard it first this morning in my car 3 X in a row. I am now listening on my headphones.

    Love it!!!

It is extremely exciting to have new music from the best band in the world.

Still digesting it but sounds damn amazing. I too am not big on the drum machine sound and the keys in the start but I am sure a lot of thought would have went into that.

    Love it!

If I had the AV skills to do it, I would. I know many on here certainly can do this in a matter of minutes. Let’s see it!
