Song reminds me a lot of Eminence Front by The Who.
    Yes! Totally does.

Funny you say that. I told my wife it's the who mixed with a little 80's sound that I can't put my finger on.

It's just OK. If I heard the exact same thing but it was by a band that wasn't Pearl Jam, I wouldn't listen to it twice. Because it's Pearl Jam, I think it's just OK.
Good point. I like it but wouldn't listen to it twice (or even once) if it weren't PJ. The title alone would signal cheezy cliche.

I can't say that I love it on first listen, but I can't say that I hate it.

I am one to take a new album and to consume it whole.  I sit and very intensely listen to each song and in the order it was intended.  A sneak peek of an album can be okay, but I think that this one wants me to take it in with all of the other friends it has on the album.

I'm encouraged by the new music.  This little bite leaves me curious for what more is to come.

Totally dig it.  Thanks Ryan Lendt and Matt from Let's Play All" for putting out the lessons for how top play it.  You guys are awesome.  Looking forward to the rest of the Album and seeing them in St. Louis.

After my first listen I wasn't sure. But it's a solid tune, Eds melody is great. Definitely has a MC (you are) feel to it. I'm hoping there's some rockers on the album though McCready needs to be unleashed.

If I’m this to MYM, it’s about equal. A solid 6/10, a good choice for a single

    Damn its a landslide!
  • I DIG IT I LOVE IT first listen review!! and when first listen comes off this big it means very good things for this song's survival( for me personally speaking)...especially love that it's a spicy curve ball thrown at a time when i least expected it. can't deny me part # 2 it isnt
very very happy now and after reading jeff's words. i am speechless....

Bassist Jeff Ament had this to say about the single: "I can’t tell you how proud I am about this group of songs. As you know, we took our time and that benefited us taking more chances.
'Dance' was a perfect storm of experimentation and real collaboration, mixing up the instrumentation and building a great song, and Ed writing some of my favorite words yet, around Matt’s killer drum pattern. Did I mention Mike’s insane guitar part and that Stone is playing bass on this one? We’ve opened some new doors creatively and that’s exciting."

I love it. Stayed up until midnight to listen and from literally the 3rd verse all the way through to the end my brain kept screaming “Whoa David Byrne, Whoa!”
Though I’m not at all sure what Bowie you’re all hearing?
I’ve listen another 20 times today, at least. Totally sold and so stoked to hear the rest of the album!

I am pretty surprised that right now 92% like it.
Same. Leads me to think my assumption that most folks on here listen almost exclusively to PJ was mostly incorrect.
I listen to PJ pretty much exclusively and I like the new song a lot! 🙋🏼
