So I dont usually listen to Bill Simmons, but I know he is a huge fan of Pearl Jam. Is it true that he only plays PJ songs on his podcasts? If so, it wouldn't be crazy for PJ to let him have a 20 second clip, to play on the friday before the single drops, right?
Also, if it is his kid's band, wouldnt that be easy to find?
He’s more like an Even Bro fan. He doesn’t play Pearl Jam other than the same live snippet of Corduroy at the start of the pod after he’s done all his plugs and closes with a snippet of YL. He’s been on PJ for a couple years now. Prior to that he was using Tupac clips.
His son is like 10.

I'm a regular Bill Simmons listener, so here are my thoughts:
1.) He's not a "fake" PJ fan, he regularly lists the best PJ gigs he's been to and has had that Corduroy live intro and Yellow Ledbetter outro for a few years now after using 2Pac's "Picture Me Rollin'".
2.) The majority of The Ringer podcasts use licensed generic music for intro's and outro's, with his being the only outlier.
3.) This is not his son's music, his son is a pre-teen who does soundcloud rap.
4.) This is VERY likely a snippet of the new PJ single because the podcast STILL uses Yellow Ledbetter as the outro on the episode. If he were to replace PJ on the intro then he would do it on the outro.

99% certain he has only been to Mansfield 98 and he regularly claims people rank it as one of the best shows ever.
I don’t see him as a huge Pearl Jam fan. He is a huge music fan and Pearl Jam is just one of many bands or artists that he hyperbolizes.

Totally agree with this. For those who know anything about Simmons, he has been following them for years and was at the 98 Great Woods quarter show. He recently talked about going to a fundraiser where Eddie was playing. He definitely knows them and they definitely like his work, which is why he gets to use Corduroy and YL on his pod and has gotten access to songs early in the past (Wrigley album). He's probably a bigger fan than most of the people that actually post on this board.

I listen to him all the time. He couldn’t name more than 3 songs off an album post yield. He really likes Pearl Jam but he’s not an Uber fan by any stretch.

If you just ignore the whole "How big of a Pearl Jam fan is Bill Simmons" debate, there's more evidence there to point that this is the new PJ single. He has a MASSIVE audience so this is a great way to tease the new single.
“On the other hand, I can see where those same people are coming from -- for instance, when Pearl Jam released "Vitalogy," I was absolutely furious and felt betrayed by them because they included so many crap songs. Years later, I see what they were trying to do -- there's no way they could have topped their first two albums, so they went in another direction, enjoyed themselves and probably said, "Screw it, let's make this our third one." I listened to it a few times and chose not to like it. Other PJ fans love it; in fact, when I made fun of "Spin the Black Circle" once, the PJ fans went ballistic.”

Lol! He's in the business of hot takes -- you don't get views/listeners with milquetoast consensus content.

Agreed on that... he’s mastered the hot take.

I loved Chuck Klosterman’s reply to Bill’s trashing of Vitalogy:
“ This is a curious question to respond to, particularly since "Vitalogy" is almost irrefutably the best Pearl Jam album, its only major problems being (a) it had an oversized, environmentally conscious jewel case, which makes it impossible to file, and (b) that it was titled "Vitalogy," which sounds like the name of a riboflavin supplement.

The way Bill says, ‘some new music’, definitely is interesting and makes me think it is DoC...what a wildly different direction for PJ if that is the case.
The synth part is the bit that sounds uncharacteristic of Pearl Jam's oeuvre to this point. The bass line sounds like "Cannonball" by the Breeders. But, sure, it could be Pearl Jam. If it is, I'm definitely curious to hear where it goes from there.

Guessing though that if Can''t Deny Me is on the album - maybe it's a new mix overseen by the new producer or a new recording all together.

Or shazam is glitchy. Mine didn't work - even for Madonna and Oasis. But rebooted and then it worked.
