If it was his son, I feel like he would have said so. The way he just says “some new music”, I think this is the beginning of the song. If so, it definitely marks new territory.
Whatever it is, it sounds really cool, unique feel to it - I hope it's Dance of the Clairvoyants.

So I dont usually listen to Bill Simmons, but I know he is a huge fan of Pearl Jam. Is it true that he only plays PJ songs on his podcasts? If so, it wouldn't be crazy for PJ to let him have a 20 second clip, to play on the friday before the single drops, right?
Also, if it is his kid's band, wouldnt that be easy to find?
My screenshot function doesn't work anymore but here you go:
it seems to be referencing your youtube video as the source.
How do you see that?
when you match the song it provides a pull up menu from the bottom of the screen, it shows the source as the Youtube video.
Ah, now I saw it. Could be. It doesn't show "the source" though. It shows a video of the song matched. So it's not evidence that the source is youtube.
Haven't seen anything about Shazam using some API from youtube, but instead its own database with music provided by labels.
But what do I know. Anyway. It is something.

He is a big PJ fan and he played clips from the Chicago Lets Play Two shows before they were released so there is precedent here.
