Buddy who gets Marriott f&f booked new Fairfield Inn corner of market & 22nd (former Harry’s Restaurant site). It’s not open but less than mile from venue and could be worth checking out.

Lots of questions about places to eat and things to do downtown.  As others mentioned Ballpark Village should be fun (but crowded) with the ballgame and PJ.  Broadway Oyster is a good spot (just south of the ballpark).  Washington street has some good spots (up by the dome).  But my advice is get out of downtown if you can.  If you like Italian food go to the Hill - it's about a 15 minute ride but there's 7-8 really good Italian places at all price points.  GianTony's is affordable and really good.  Soulard and the Grove both have some really interesting places to eat  - if you are Vegan/Vegetarian check out LuLu's, Utah Station or Sweet Arts.  The Loop (on Delmar) is about 15 minutes west and has Vintage Vinyl for shopping and some good places to eat and is a fun place to walk around on a nice day.  If you want to go for a run or nice walk head to Forest Park.  Not trying to discourage people from exploring downtown but I can count on one hand the times I go downtown in a year unless it's for work or a game.  If you are willing to drive or Uber 10-15 minutes you will have alot more options and with the Cards in town those places will be much less crowded.  Agree on Pappy's and Sugar Fire for BBQ - Bogarts as well.

My wife got us a room at Lumiere Place for $133/night via Hotwire. Free parking, supposed to be a pretty nice casino.

Not a local, but I can chime in on a couple of breweries. Schlafly is close and their beer is decent. 2nd Shift (5 miles away) and 4 Hands  (1 mile away) make some awesome beer and I buy their stuff in KC all the time.

Unfortunately I don’t have a pizza place to recommend downtown.
Brewery’s:  Schlafly Tap room is awesome. Four hands is also great. Center ice is a cool hockey themed brewery.
    BBQ:  Sugarfire and pappys
Blues bars:  Broadway Oyster Bar has a really cool atmosphere. BB’s jazz and blues bar is more of a hole in the wall type place but is my preferred place to go.

Hyatt at the Arch is $153 on Hotwire. Hotwire won’t reveal the name of the hotel until after you buy (but you can pay an extra $12 for free cancellation in case you get a hotel you don’t want) but they tell you “you’re hotel will be 1 of these 3” and I got the Hyatt. You can easily know what hotel you’ll get by matching the reviews and seeing which of the 3 hotels are on sale. I’m a Hotwire vet. Out of the 100 times I’ve used it, been disappointed maybe twice.

So first, this is my FIRST Pearl Jam show.  Flying in from Houston to see them, because they are ignoring the entire state of Texas.... But I digress.

Great info here.  We booked the DRURY by the arch.  Any opinions on this?  Reviews are superb and the location seems good.  It's a value, because they provide a good quality breakfast and even a free dinner if you want it (like tacos, etc.) and free beer.   We arrive FRIDAY afternoon before the show.  We'll get checked into our hotel by the arch and then go explore..... we have all day Saturday to explore prior to the show.  Sunday will basically just be traveling back home.

As someone who has been in the arch a couple of times, do you think it's worth the time (again) or just go do something else?  I am into craft beer and would love to try some St. Louis local stuff.  Recommendations for possibly doing that near downtown?  I don't want to stray far from downtown because travel time will burn a day up pretty fast and we won't have a rental car, so we're Ubering everywhere.

Not a local, but Perennial and Side Project are fantastic breweries. The latter especially if you're into sours.

If your looking for great Italian food--- go to the Hill --- Charlie Gitto's or Zia's is good on the Hill area.  I'd call ahead -- I believe some of them have reservations in advance.

There's a newer brewery called Rockwell Brewing Company  https://rockwellbeer.com/
-- It's not to far from downtown-- I'd say the shortest from the Drury by the Arch

    Might be worth a shot

For the Arch, they just redid the area around the arch so it's very nice now with a park and exhibits.  I would not feel the need to go up - go have a beer at the top of one of the downtown hotels instead.  Rooster is a great call for Brunch.  There's a local place called the Shack that does a really good breakfast but I don't think there's one near downtown but there's a few around town.  In terms of a nice restaurant for an anniversary type dinner you have some good options.  Tony's is downtown and was the clear #1 for many years but I haven't been there for a long time and may be a little dated.  Giovanni's on the Hill is very good (Oprah's favorite).  Charlie Gitto has a place on the hill and there's one downtown I think (Tommy Lasorda's favorite).  There's several places in Clayton too:  Cafe Napoli is very nice as is Oceano Bistro.  A very good but not fancy place is Pastaria - homemade pasta and pizza (and gelato) in a relaxed setting but my wife loves it.  The usual steak places (Flemings, Capital Grille) also a little west.  Just went to a cool place a few weeks ago called Fountain on Locust which had great drinks and amazing dessert options (especially if you like ice cream) with good (not fancy) food.   Urban Chestnut is another good brewery in addition to all those mentioned.

I'm staying at the Pear Tree Inn.  Looks like a 15 minute walk from venue to hotel.  Any reason for concern walking back to the hotel after the show?
I am booked at the Pear Tree also, would be interested to hear of any concerns walking back.  Schlafly Tap Room looks to be a short walk from the Pear Tree also.

Stay out of the city and stay in the West County (Chesterfield, Des Peres, Olivette area) or go further west into St. Charles County where you can take an Uber, which will be expensive...as someone who has lived in the city and out let me tell you right now save your money and your life and dont stay in St. Louis City

    Other places of interest:
record stores:  Vintage Vinyl in the Delmar Loop (My favorite area in STL) is great with a huge selection of all genres. Euclid Records is about 15 minutes west of downtown in Webster groves and is super cool. I do most of my record shopping there. The Record Space is in Affton and has an awesome punk section and a bunch of action figures plus music memorabilia.

The Grove:  another cool area just a short drive from downtown with many cool bars and clubs.

Arch Grounds:  has been redone and is really nice. I’m not a big arch guy so I probably wouldn’t hit that spot but to each their own.

Forest Park:  we have an amazing zoo (free) and the art museum is great if you’re into that. The Boathouse is in forest Park and is a cool little spot to eat as well.

The Hill:  as mentioned earlier the Hill has so many great Italian restaurants and my favorite pub in STL (O Connells)
