Toronto is aiming to relaunch its theatre in September after guidance from medical experts when it will be safe again to have live shows. While a far cry from a rock concert with GA and 20,000 fans it still gives a glimpse into when the experts are thinking we can gather in a group again.
When do the rumors for tours typically start going strong? 3-4 months in advance? 5-6 months ahead?
I think we can safely say June 2021 is out of the picture for a bunch of drunk and/or stoned people to safely stand together in a GA section. I'd also say that September is out for Pearl Jam.

Just received my Pfizer vaccine. Hopeful for the future of not only our planet but for some Pearl Jam shows soon!

at least RBC finally extended our credit when we could re-book our flight. up until a few days ago we would have had to rebook by Dec 20 of this year. they've extended it a year.

The things people in this country will voluntarily put in their bodies but then draw the line at a vaccine that may save their lives. Smdh.
I've been seeing this for a while now. I honestly think it's two different sets of people. The anti-vaxers are the same ones who won't cook with gas because they're worried about chemicals from the gas seeping into their foods. They're worried about chemtrails and all.
They're not the ones eating hot dogs and drinking soft drinks at a baseball game. The anti-vaxers, anti-chemical group are eating non-GMO, vegan, soy, etc.

Wha I have find a little puzzling is the lack of credence for those who have already tested positive and developed natural antibodies.
I understand that we don’t fully know how long natural antibodies last. But that would mean the antibodies from the vaccine would be in the same boat, no? (I think the vaccines are providing a year’s worth of immunity if I’ve read correctly.)
i just find it odd. Should we not count those confirmed case s in the calculation to herd immunity?

I think the experts are saying even people who had the virus should still get the vaccine. It’s possible that when there is more long term data available they will say differently. I think they’re erring on the side of caution, which is probably reasonable.
What’s interesting to me is the question of prioritization. Should people who already had the disease be at the back of the vaccine line since they may have some protection already even though not proven? I don’t know the answer, but it’s an idea.

My wife works in a nursing home that has 170 cases of infections. She had a positive test back in June but never showed any symptoms. she even went for an antibody test that was conducted by McMaster University and her results came back not showing any antibodies. 80 staff members have tested positive and people who she works side by side with yet she hasn't had any symptoms and is tested weekly. To play it safe she has been staying in a hotel for the last three week so our boys and I can live a somewhat normal life ( as normal is it can be without mom around). Long story short I have no idea if she did have it or should be vaccinated first.
On a side note I was very sick back at Christmas last year with all the symptoms of Covid-19 and have always wondered if that's what I had. Again, who really knows.

No point in speculating on any of this until we see vaccines actually role out worldwide and how that impacts the general consensus of goverments and their top health advisers.
This is true. On the other hand as there are no concerts or really anything else to do, speculation is all we have!
Seems like yesterday we were speculating if the spring tour was going to be cancelled. Then Europe, then the rumoured fall, now its who knows when when we will see them next. Fingers crossed its good in the fall to have shows!
The way things have evolved really seems to be close to the worst case scenario, with the exception that there is hope on the horizon with the vaccines.
worst case scenario would be that this occurred just 10 or even 5 years ago. Technology has made the collateral damage less so.
Thank God this vaccine is here now at already 300,000 dead - I can't imagine what it would be like if this was on the normal vaccine timeline of years. Really a miracle it's here this quickly.
Never thought we'd be at the prospect of thinking about shows in 2021, but seems like we can get there in the Fall or Winter/Spring 2022. These Quebec tickets are waiting to be enjoyed
Watching the news this morning on CTV there are professionals out there saying that we will be back to normal by this summer in Canada and on top of that anyone that wants to be vaccinated will be vaccinated by September 2021. They have been conservative with their numbers so far too so while we still need to get the vaccines in our hands and into the arms of patients all signs are pointing in the positive direction.
This is awesome to hear! I wanna go back to Montreal and QC so bad again (beyond just PJ).

The projections right now are based on not overstimulating peoples sense of reality. If you say June and it can't be achieved until September or October, you will have issues.
The reality in much of the Americas and Europe is that the combination of baseline undetected spread priory to March 2020, spread from March through now, and rollout of both two mRNA vaccines with additional vaccines to follow creates a great degree of unknown.
The tell tale sign will be when hospitals no longer have a swell of patients specifically dealing with COVID.
If this were totally eradicated it would be pretty miraculous. The reality is this is a manageable and far less taxing burden on health systems. That is the only realistic goal. Anything else would be ridiculous gravvy. The use of mRNA vaccines is the possible real gamechanger. They have been stonewalled for so long because there has not been a need combined with opportunity to utilize them. So there is the slim possibility that it would eradicate, but still unlikley.
We knew that they weren't going to play Seattle in 2020 due to renovations at KeyArena or whatever it's called these days.
I'm sure contracts from the spring tour will absolutely have to be honored. For the fall tour, maybe some contracts were signed and others not.
There'll be a ton of acts looking to tour. Venues might be hard to book for a while.
What I'm saying is...I wonder if there's a chance of a show (shows?) in Seattle. I have absolutely zero inside info (and I'm sure our insider sources have none as well, but it's definitely a fun thought to have.)

Presidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"
Announce a 30-35 date US tour for November and December 2021. Mix the Spring 2020 dates and the Fall 2020 dates. Move Europe to September 2020
We know the band loves those European festivals...unless they save those for 2022.
Part of me thinks they'll want to start at home. Not only because it's the first shows with a new album, but also, if something chaotic happens, there's no international travel mess to sort through.
Of course, they're not actually going to tour until they truly know it's 100% safe.
But I just don't see them playing Europe during a time when it isn't festival season.
I really, really hope we get them in 2021. But also, a low bar means lesser expectations.

There might be a rumor of something announced in 6-8 months. If not, wait 6-8 months after that.
Yah, I don't expect announcements until it actually looks like the vaccines are widespread, working, and progress is being made. It could take months and months for us to know those things.
On the flip side there's going to be a mad run on venues because no ones toured and made a living in a few years by that point. It's going to be a game of chicken... who goes first.. will they have rebook again because they went first....

Without giving it a lot of thought, here's what I'd do:
Priority 1 -- Teams that normally play in those venues.
Priority 1.5 -- Seasonal acts
Priority 2 -- Any touring act that was booked, but had to cancel.
Priority 3 -- Touring acts that were in discussions to book venues.
Priority 4 -- Anyone else.
I'm sure that November/December 2021 will mean the usual Christmas/holiday shows which could push P4 into 2022.
With everything that will be booked around the regular teams, you're right. It'll be an absolute hot mess of a fustercluck for quite a while.
The good news? There won't be any lack of live entertainment options within driving distance.

While in theroy there shouldn’t be an announcement of “new” shows until we know how the vaccines are working, there no choice but to give some sort of indication on Europe some time soon. After all we’re less than 6 months from that potentially starting.

I could see fall USA happening as that is one country and they are saying everyone who wants a vaccine should have access by summer. But a dozen countries in late spring/early summer? I would love it to proceed but don’t see how it can be possible. I hope it is postponed and not cancelled however.

Procurement Minister Anita Anand says Canada doesn't need to approve additional vaccine candidates to meet its goal of inoculating everyone who wants a COVID-19 shot by September and that its target could be reached ahead of schedule.
Canada gave the green light to Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna's messenger RNA vaccines last month, but independent regulators are still reviewing other candidates, such as the AstraZeneca-Oxford product.
"Prior to Christmas ... we exercised 20 million options of Moderna. So that allows us to have 40 million doses of Moderna now in addition to our 20 million Pfizer doses," Anand said on Sunday in an interview on Rosemary Barton Live. "That allows us to hit about 30 million Canadians."
Both vaccines must be administered twice.
Under the contracts it has signed, Ottawa can still receive up to 56 million more doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Anand told CBC Chief Political Correspondent Rosemary Barton that discussions are ongoing to exercise that option.
"We will be on track, without doubt, to ensure inoculations for all Canadians who want it by the end of September, if not sooner," she said. "That is the goal that I am pursuing every single day, moving up that end of September timeline so that we can see ourselves through to the other side of this pandemic as quickly as possible."

But I just don't see them playing Europe during a time when it isn't festival season.
I really, really hope we get them in 2021. But also, a low bar means lesser expectations.

Bring on the fall Canadian tour.
