Doesn't Eddie put his all into EVERY song he sings, but certainly not in a Michael Bolton sort of way...that's not real. What Eddie sings is real raw emotion, which is why it touches so many...
What IS I'm still here and the track called Binaural?!
For the song Binaural, I guess you're supposed to put in your Binaural CD upside down in a sony CD player and go to track 32. So I've heard, I've yet to try it.
I was just thinking about my poetry and the easiest poems to read, the clearest voice, the ones where my voice, on paper and spoken, is the strongest are the ones where I was most emotional writing them. So, if other artists are at their strongest when something is most emotional to them, then the most emotional song I think Eddie Vedder has written is Rearview Mirror.

BLACK without doubt! It has enough emotional resonance to tear you apart even if u haven't really experienced something as painful as talked about in the song. I mean, I'm quite a happy sorta guy (at least I used to be) and this song just tore me up even then! Now, things have kinda changed and I can identify more with this song than ever before. It's just the most perfect 'wallow in your own sorrow' song that has ever been made. I might raise a few eyebrows here, but I truly think that "Black" is the greatest song of all time, period! I mean, music doesn't get any more emotionally devastating or any better than "Black".
Another song that is right up there is "Nothingman". The part where Eddie sings: "...into the sun, into the sun, burn burn..." is flat out phenomenal!
And of course "Immortality" is another great dark ballad, always hits me hard. Other than Eddie's emotive singing, I love the way Mike McCready's guitar sounds as if it's gently weeping throughout the song. Really heart-wrenching.
I can think of plenty of songs more tear jerky than black. Release, Nothingman, The final cut, Paranoid eyed, The post war dream, The show must go on (Pink Floyd), Coming back to life, Lost for words, High hopes, Let me sleep, Thumbing my way, Low light, Wishlist, The trial, Outside the wall, Mother, Fearless, What's uh the deal?, If, Try try try, Blissed and gone, Mrs Potter's lullabye, the next song on the same album, Colour blind, Recovering the satellites, Monkey, Round here, Nightswimming, November rain, Don't cry.
A restaurant with a smoking section is like a swimming pool with a pissing section
I'd say Ed's "Mini Opera", consisting of "Alive", "Once", and "Footsteps" is pretty emotional, "Black" also, of course

look i've just been over this, look in the other thread: dirty frank, hands down.
seriously though, the ones that get me from each album:
ten: black (say no more)
vs.: indifference
vitalogy: immortality/ nothingman
no code: present tense
yield: faithful
binaural: nothing as it seems
riot act: U-R!
a couple of these weren't writen by eddie, but i'll bend the rules a bit
