DEFINITELY black. I even had this conversation with my sisters boyfriend last night cos there were a few of us in the kitchen drinking and listening to pj. And when black came on, I challenged him to think of a song that has more emotion than that one – he argued that it’s NOT the most emotional song ever but yet he couldn’t come up with ONE that might be.
The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
Wembley? We all believe!
Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
Chicago 07? And love
What a different life
Had I not found this love with you
i know its been said but betterman is of the all time greatest songs eddie has written.and i probably know its been said already but thumbing my way it gives me chill everytime i hear it.its just an awsome song to listen to.
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
Sammi: Wanna just break up?
well aren't they, I doubt that Eddie would ever have written anything that wasn't (extremely) emotional..
black, for sure is full of emotion. (..but why can't it be mine?)
jeremy. (daddy didn't give attention)
indifference. (I will scream my lungs out til it fills this room -- how much differrence does it make?)
release.
rearviewmirror. (saw things so much clearer once you were in my rearviewmirror. the vocals are so strong!)
the list goes on and on. and I know you know it.!
all the emotion, where does it come from? it's amazing, I could never go through all that and still be sane (or even alive).!!
but it's hard to determine which song is the most emotional, isn't it? cause we all attach our own emotions and experiences to the lyrics and that way they become more emotional to us. you know?
like hearing a certain song right after losing someone close (or something).. when you hear that song again, you'll remember how you felt back then.
all PJ songs (Eddie's ones at least) are all emotional.
"Don't be faint-hearted, I have a solution! We shall go and commandeer some small craft, then drift at leisure until we happen upon another ideal place for our waterside supper with riparian entertainments."

I Got ID is so great!
I remember when I heard it the first time; I had just bought Rearviewmirror and put the other cd to my player. I was just browsing through the new songs (the ones that were new to me) and when it started "my lips are shaking, my nails are bit off".. WOW!
whenever I listen to that song it reminds me of all the times I've felt the same way. but it's good, cause now I've gotten through those times.
and btw. I owe PJ a lot of grattitude for that!

If it's emotional songs for what they mean to me, I'd have to say my top five are
Long Road
Indifference
All or None
Black
Around the Bend
NOTE: Around the Bend was the only song that would put my daughter to sleep when she was a baby. One night when she was crying like crazy, I took her for a drive and No Code was in the Player. I flipped it to Off he Goes...Nothing. Then around the bend, and within 30 second she was asleep. I then started to play it in her nursery and it works like a charm.
So now mu Daughter sleeps to Eddie sayhing..."You're an angel when you sleep". So definately some meaning to me.

that's such a cute story! very.. should I say, delightful.
anyway, thinking about the question if the thread means emotional for us or for Eddie, I'd say that naturally it's hard to say, which ones are the most emotional for him.. but I think we can conduct something about the way he sings them (live). like, for example, think of Black. or Rearviewmirror.
yeah, now I'm repeating myself..
BTW, Around the Bend works as a lullaby for me too. (and, you know, I'm not that little anymore)
so, if anyon eof you has trouble getting sleep, I highly recommend it!

i'd have to say that Release is by far the most emotional song that Eddie has ever written, there's so much meaning and power behind it, i mean he couldn't even bring himself to write the lyrics in the Ten booklet
without a doubt the most emotional song he wrote and i have ever heard
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"
without a doubt the most emotional song he wrote and i have ever heard
Yeah, I'd agree, as well as Black, Off He Goes, 4/20/02, RvM and Better Man because we know what they mean to Ed. Has everyone read that Cameron Crowe article about the run-up to the release of Vs. and how Ed asked some hikers to STOP singing Black because it sent him insane? Crazy stuff, but fame in America is probably exactly that...
Too many cowboys, not enough indians, so just go ape shit!
I may be boring but at least I'm not Jack fucking Johnson.
TV is such shit; let's go outside and ride bicycles, right now!
Madrid 07/09/06 - Little mofo'ing Wing!!!
Wembley 06/18/07 - Speechless

I actually don't think I've heard the full stories on what the songs mean to Ed.......fill me in!
i think it's binaural. i dont have much of an argument on the band's behalf, but for me personally, this song has as much personal weight with me as anything else out there, including classical music (which is a huge deal to me).
yes it is..... turn your Binuaral CD upside down into a CD player made by Sony and go to track 32.... serious..... it sounds like Last Kiss meets Spin the Black Circle

I've forgotton what board (1 in 3 chance it's this one) I read it on, but sometime this millennium someone said that PJ would stop doing black for that reason. Didn't realise it was in the run up to vs being released.
A restaurant with a smoking section is like a swimming pool with a pissing section
Black
Jeremy
Immortality
Off he Goes
Keeping rockin' in a free World
Btw; Black, after sometime it was released, it was chosen by the American Critics Association, as the most beautiful song of in history, together with "Imagine", by John Lennon.
i think there are too many emotional songs to name, but the most emotional to me is i'm still here (in the top slot for obvious reasons) and don't be shy, and sometimes angel.
