It was a song written about Layne Staley, and the title refers to the date that his body was found. You can find it on the second disc of Lost Dogs, a few minutes after the last track.

As for the most emotional song, I would say either Black, or All or None.
The car's on fire and there's no driver at the wheel
And the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides

I'd say Black too...Alive as well. And after those two, almost the entire catalogue of songs :).
  • Black. The version on RVM is just blinding!
Too many cowboys, not enough indians, so just go ape shit!

I may be boring but at least I'm not Jack fucking Johnson.

TV is such shit; let's go outside and ride bicycles, right now!

I'd say corduroy. That song means something special to Eddie, as it seems the band plays it at every single concert.

corduroy is my favourite song.....I play it constantly.....he really seems to get places with it.....I feel something strong.....heh.....I love it....I can't express it......corduroy.....yes!!!!
....they're asking me to prove why I should be allowed to stay with my baby in Australia, because I'm mentally ill......and they think I should leave......
  • uttlesuttles Posts: 13
A lot of people think it's about celebrity and being famous and such and such...

But if you ask me, it's about love. It's about someone Eddie loved at some point in his life, that didn't love him back. It is my favorite song as well.
i will be... i will be there once more...

    it's so passionate.....I play it over and over again.....not in a hateful way....passionate.....so strong.....absolutely nothing's changed
....they're asking me to prove why I should be allowed to stay with my baby in Australia, because I'm mentally ill......and they think I should leave......
  • i'd have to say that Release is by far the most emotional song that Eddie has ever written, there's so much meaning and power behind it, i mean he couldn't even bring himself to write the lyrics in the Ten booklet
If I knew where it was I would take you there, there's much more than this!
  • Release
    Black
    Once
...It's only after disaster that we can be resurrected...
it's only after you've lost everything ...that you are free to do anything....(Fight Club)

... I'll ride the wave...where it takes me....
  • i think it's binaural. i dont have much of an argument on the band's behalf, but for me personally, this song has as much personal weight with me as anything else out there, including classical music (which is a huge deal to me).
Anti Zionism is not Anti Semitism

    Most antizionists are antisemites
  • that is the most emotional song that eddie v. sings
"And wherever you've gone and wherever we might go.
It don't seem fair for days just disappeared.
Your light's reflected now. Reflected from afar.
We were but stones. Your light made us stars."
  • I reckon it would have to be BLACK....I am obsessed with this song and it reminds me of a certain OKLAHOMA WOMANNNNNNNNNN!!!

You know who you are GIRLFRIEND!!!!!!!!

I play this song at least twice a day...never get sick of it..ever!!

either black or release. both blow my mind.
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"
  • Black is a emotional song, i dont know why but i get the impression that Daughter is a really emotional song to.
We're all dead anyway so have fun ffs

Didn't we already have this exact same thread on the Porch last week?

Anyhow, I think it is the untitled spoken word song dubbed, I'm Still Here....
  • Can't argue against the previous listings, but I think there's something very emotional in Light Years. It's Ed crying out that this person is gone and he can''t understand why.

    "with heavy breath, awakened regrets
back pages and days alone that could have been spent, together..
    but we were miles apart
every inch between us becomes light years now
no time to be void or save up on life
you got to spend it all.."

Honerable mention: Man of the Hour
"No time to be void or save up on life...
You got to spend it all."

would this be the most emotional song, or the most emotion put in to a song?

If it is the first, I will have to go with Black. There's no denying its the most emotional, and if most emotion put in to a song, I will go with Black. lol.

I would have to say Black immediately comes to mind.. but how about Arc which was only performed live a few times, if you were lucky enough to be there, it was quite powerfull and emotional.
