Puffing up Pete didn't work as planned. They don't trust that Biden can close the deal. They must find something to keep as much of the status quo as possible. They can't risk Bernie or Lizzy coming in being all:

Goodspeed: Listen, I think we got off on the wrong foot. Stan Goodspeed, FBI. Uh, let's talk music. Do you like the Michael Jackson song "Man in the mirror"?
cincybearcat: I don't like soft-ass shit!
Goodspeed: Oh, oh, you don't, OK. Well, I only bring it up because, uh... it's you. You should start with the man in the mirror.

I haven’t started threads with a different democratic hero every damn week.
Bernie is a liar. He is a fucking populist piece of shit. I hope to all things holy he ain’t the nominee, cause it’ll be a loss.

There's no "they". Bloomberg calls his own shots.
Oh, does he
Mike Bloomberg Gave the DNC $300K Two Days Before He Entered the 2020 Race
And now the DNC is changing its rules in a way very favorable to ... Mike Bloomberg.
So the late entrant that has pulled into 4th place should not be on the debate stage? I understand the rules but the fact that Bloomberg implies that asking for donations to him is absurd should prevent voters from hearing what he has to say?
Huge money in politics is absurd and so is a billionaire running the country. But until we can amend the constitution from the ills of citizens united big money runs politics. The Dems can either accept this and fight on equal footing or lose elections. Bloomberg’s biggest problem is he is not of an evangelical tangential religion, if that makes any sense. And middle America has its own thoughts on that.
fear of 3rd party run? dude has the cash to do it and not blink an eye.....
Ballot access would be the biggest hurdle for him. He'd have to dedicate a lot of resources to what is a state-by-state approach. Mostly because I can't think of an existing party already doing that work who would welcome him as their candidate.

I just find it interesting that Castro is publicly chiding the DNC over this

Yes. The way I interpreted your previous point was that the DNC essentially controls and therefore activated Bloomberg. I'm saying Bloomberg controls Bloomberg.
Second, we expect candidates to donate from their fund to the DNC to support local races. I would expect Bloomberg to give substantially more in the coming months, and one of my biggest party criticisms of Bernie and AOC is that they don't contribute enough.
I like Pete, even though I disagree with some of his politics. Kind of person we need. Amy is that kind of person too. Elizabeth is the kind of person but with position too far from mine vs Pete and Amy.
