Yeah it's such a delicate line to straddle. There are certainly values that you learn in business that could/should be applied to gov't. But at the same time, a business operates to generate profits for its stakeholders. That's not the objective for government. There was a time when the Democrats advocated government as a way to better society and Republicans were the voice of caution. And they would work together to land somewhere in the middle. Fucking baby boomers wreck everything.

I don't agree with deficits. In Ontario, we spend a billion 13 billion a year just to service the debt, federally it's over 30 billion...just servicing the debt and spending they do not have...it is bullshit...

Well, I have seen your little Canada debt to GDP ratio...maybe before you comment you should understand Canada, your post has us over 100%...when in reality it's around 32%...Canada is made of 12 provinces and 3 territories...each is responsible for their own debt..., see how it easy it's to play with numbers...we generally do not include their debt in with our federal government's debt.
Get back to me when your insignificant country has its house in order.
By the way, maybe if more people understood the cost of serving debt they would insist on some restraint.

Really don't like the setup. I'd prefer all the top-polling candidates (Biden, Sanders, Harris, Warren, Buttigieg) be on stage together. I think that's how the Republicans did it in 2016. Trump and all the high-polling candidates in one debate, Santorum and all the wannabes in another.

We need fewer lawyers as politicians and someone who can add...

But at the same time, a business operates to generate profits for its stakeholders. That's not the objective for government. There was a time when the Democrats advocated government as a way to better society and Republicans were the voice of caution. And they would work together to land somewhere in the middle. I have no problem with a deficit in trying times, war, recessions, depressions...but in Canada, our PM raves about how great the economy is and has bee running 20 billion surpluses...in supposed good times...some say a recession is on the horizon...those deficits will balloon to well over 50 billion/year. Our last PM a supposed conservative, spent like our liberal and even worse was not good with math...
Remember one thing about Canada, we need our government to have its finances in order...healthcare depends on it...we have no say in what services the government covers...and they do de-list services from time to time...
