Here's the lineups for the first debates...

Candidates for the June 26 debate: New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, former HUD Secretary Julián Castro, former Maryland Rep. John Delaney, Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, former Texas Rep. Beto O'Rourke, Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

Candidates for the June 27 debate: Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet; former Vice President Joe Biden; South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg; New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand; California Sen. Kamala Harris; former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper; Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders; California Rep. Eric Swalwell; writer and spiritual guru Marianne Williamson and entrepreneur Andrew Yang.

Really don't like the setup. I'd prefer all the top-polling candidates (Biden, Sanders, Harris, Warren, Buttigieg) be on stage together. I think that's how the Republicans did it in 2016. Trump and all the high-polling candidates in one debate, Santorum and all the wannabes in another.
    2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. Hear. Now. 2022: Camden

The question mark suggests that you don't know the answer to this. So I'll tell you. Yes, there will be more than one debate.

No it tried to suggest that - candidates will be picked off and the higher ones will stay through the debates and what you wish for will happen down the line. Correct?

You need to work on your question marks.

Anyway, yeah of course that's how they'll do it but I'd still prefer they did it from the start, basically so someone that's interested in what the viable candidates have to say don't have to watch two debates on back-to-back days.

Did you know Andrew Yang is against circumcision?  Not really a worthy topic, but I wanted to throw it out there.

But... arent the debates in theory so that whos viable will concluded. So its a leveled playing field - in theory.

But maybe they should have had a a tighter cut off to start with. Like everyone above 5%

Yeah I saw an interview with him the other day that I liked. He even made UBI make sense to me. I hadn't seen any mention of the circumcision thing here because when I log on, I just go to the most recent comment. So that must have been a conversation over the weekend or something.

I think the cut was 65,000 unique donations.  If they went with a %, everyone on the left would be bellyaching about how the DNC is picking winners.

Did you know Andrew Yang is against circumcision?  Not really a worthy topic, but I wanted to throw it out there.
I did not know that. Pretty strange thing to be against.
And I'm sure he's FOR other things that would conceivably be good for the nation. but how incredibly sad is it THIS is what has gotten attention here.
C'mon, you know I'm joking.  He is for UBI.  I'm not sure I'm down with that one either.  A lot of candidates throw stuff out there for attention.  If it wasn't for these two issues, no one would even know who he was.  He'd be like that Marianne girl.  I still don't know who she is.
The US does not even have the money to pay for their programs now without running deficits.  Ontario ran a UBI, it was cancelled early, I believe Finlands UBI was cancelled early...paying people to do nothing has never been a good motivator...Canada does not have the money for UBI...the feds cannot pay for the programs we have in Canada without running deficits.  We need fewer lawyers as politicians and someone who can add...
Yeah it's such a delicate line to straddle.  There are certainly values that you learn in business that could/should be applied to gov't.  But at the same time, a business operates to generate profits for its stakeholders.  That's not the objective for government.  There was a time when the Democrats advocated government as a way to better society and Republicans were the voice of caution.  And they would work together to land somewhere in the middle.  Fucking baby boomers wreck everything.

I don't agree with deficits.  In Ontario, we spend a billion 13 billion a year just to service the debt, federally it's over 30 billion...just servicing the debt and spending they do not have...it is bullshit...

Maybe you need.... a businessman/reality Tv host?
Well, I have seen your little Canada debt to GDP ratio...maybe before you comment you should understand Canada, your post has us over 100%...when in reality it's around 32%...Canada is made of 12 provinces and 3 territories...each is responsible for their own debt..., see how it easy it's to play with numbers...we generally do not include their debt in with our federal government's debt.

Get back to me when your insignificant country has its house in order.

By the way, maybe if more people understood the cost of serving debt they would insist on some restraint.

I agree.  He's a carnival barker and a clown.  But Bush* was kind of a business person.  Romney definitely was.  I wouldn't call myself a deficit hawk.  But I do believe that you can grow deficits during recessions and then during growth, you work to back that back down.  A balanced budge would be a great place to start.

I have no problem with a deficit in trying times, war, recessions, depressions...but in Canada, our PM raves about how great the economy is and has bee running 20 billion surpluses...in supposed good times...some say a recession is on the horizon...those deficits will balloon to well over 50 billion/year.  Our last PM a supposed conservative, spent like our liberal and even worse was not good with math...

Remember one thing about Canada, we need our government to have its finances in order...healthcare depends on it...we have no say in what services the government covers...and they do de-list services from time to time...
