I didn't mean you're an anti-bee force. I wasn't talking about you at all when I said that - of course I know you're not anti-bee dude. And "people like you" would be "people who are being convinced that it's the honey bee industry." That is what I thought you were very wrong about, and you literally mentioned maybe being wrong, so I said I thought you are. Seriously Brian. Just ask me when you have a reaction like that, instead of essentially attacking me for things I didn't even mean. I don't understand why you keep doing this, lol.
Nice backpedaling.
Oh FFS. That isn't backpedaling. That is me clarifying what I actually was saying. Backpedaling is literally lying. Don't call me a liar. I was explaining to Brian exactly what I meant, since he misunderstood. And obviously I wasn't clear enough. So why did you see fit to drop in and accuse me of not being honest? Just to be some kind of snotty instigator?
I just don’t think you see how you come off sometimes. Even in your response.
1) Brian you are very wrong 2) Brian it’s your fault how you read my message
And I’m honestly just trying to be helpful here, but somehow I doubt you will think that.
I bet most people have had enough of Cincy's lessons on how to post properly.

Then if the Thai soccer team does not like it, then stop them...
What does that even mean?
I can't figure that one out either.
This isn't the first time people have freaked when a team outscored another by a huge number, and then said the team who scored all the goals were being jerks for doing it. From what I've been able to tell, some literally think a team who is kicking another's ass should just stop trying and not score against them anymore, PLUS not celebrate the goals that are piling up in their favour. I personally think these are super unreasonable expectations, at least at that level of play. Sure, if it was a bunch of little kids playing, I can understand if the parent coaches had a little chat with the winning team about trying not to rub it in the losers' faces. But these are elite adult athletes. The idea that a good team should pull things back so as not to hurt the other team's feelings just seems silly to me. I'm sure the Thai team can suck it up and take it, and if they can't, that seems like their problem.

Then say what you meant, because it’s not the same issue.
Excuse me for barging in but I'm curious- what's the issue here?
The US Female soccer team scored 13 against the Thai team and the celebrations were excessive say some...I say all is well and if you do not like the celebrations...that's life.
The Thai's have not complained one bit. And the goalie tweeted Carli Lloyd yesterday and thanked her for the post-game talk. The only people outraged are the soccer mommies and daddies in this country who are offended that the game wasn't treated like a recreational soccer game. This is a great example of outrage culture, where busy bodies make a thing about something that isn't a thing. Some of it is going on in this treat on AET: https://community.pearljam.com/discussion/243583/u-s-soccer-thread/p25
One of the dumber things to be outraged about, but it sparked quite a controversy with the sensitive, participation trophy crowd.

I say deport them and put them in aprons doing the dishes in the kitchen where women belong. They ain't got no business being in sports.

I agree as well (which is why I kind of make fun of some of this stuff). There are definitely things to be outraged about in this world from the macro (global warming, tons and tons of plastic in the oceans, etc.) to the micro (the way developers are completely wrecking the county I live in as I watch big swaths of land being raked over by monstrous bulldozers). But a soccer game? I just don't see it.

i thought this was the most ridiculous non trump related thing id heard all week. in soccer even when a team scores one goal they go apeshit cause 1. yeah for us, we scored! and 2. its such a low scoring game that yeah for us we scored!!
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand

Well, since you nor anyone else has said it, what the outrage is about is that the US women's team were celebrating big-time well into their route of the Thai team. That's called poor sportsmanship and they should be called on it. Is it cause for outrage? I don't think so but then I have nothing invested in women's soccer or any other sport for that matter. So for those affected by this, maybe outrage is to be expected. But for everyone else, I doubt it.
Wow, sometimes it sure does take a while to get to the real issues around here, lol.

I knew what she was referencing, but it's a tired argument. The Thai women were obviously most affected by this but guess what? They didn't bitch about it. In fact, the Thai goalie later tweeted Carli Lloyd (a veteran USWNT player) and thanked her for her words of encouragement on the field after the game. Primarily it was people who apparently believe this should be treated like some sort of recreational youth game where one must never talk about winning or losing, and everyone gets pats on the back for doing their best. But this is the most prestigious and high level tournament available to professional women soccer players who are representing their nations. The US women were thrilled by the goals for various reasons. For some it was their first WC goal. For others it was setting personal records. For the team there were both team and WWC records set along the way. Those were of course celebrated. I congratulate the USWNT for a job well done. They had objectives and a game plan and they executed that plan flawlessly and accomplished what they set out to do. Naturally, they were pleased about their performance and expressed that joy and exuberance. Two thumbs up from me. And two thumbs down for the outrage that caused a needless and unwarranted distraction.

I've noticed that this issue only really ever comes up in women's sports btw. It's not actually an uncommon occurrence in sports (I specifically remember a few instances in Olympic women's hockey and soccer), but I can't think of a time when it was something that came up with men's teams (excluding the restrictions put on NFL players and their TD celebrations), and it's not like men don't celebrate the same way.

I mentioned that in the AET thread I referenced earlier, and apparently insulted a poster who thought I was accusing him of gender bias, but I think there's something to what you're saying. We love big strong male athletes "fronting" or being bad ass, but heaven forbid when women athletes act with confidence and power.

It’s such a stupid thing to be outraged for. There are only 3 appropriate feelings:
1) Joy - if you support USWNT 2) embarrassment - I think you know who you support 3) who give a fuck, it’s soccer

Yeah, I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about either. Screw it- let's go have a beer!
