Austin just hit us business owners with a 48% tax increase.  I got hit with a bill by my landlord to be paid in 60 days for $10k.  And that’s without Beto....  Beto wants to tax the fuck out of us all- as usual assuming we must be Amazon.com since we own a business. Stupidest shit ever.  Forget the mom and pop family owned small businesses that Austin claims are it’s lifeblood (the meaning of the slogan Keep Austin weird)... instead let’s tax their balls off so they close and leave the city to only the corporations who have the ability to pay these tax hikes. Beto wants to act like the saver when he’ll drive small businesses like mine  to the grave.  I hate Cruz, but there’s no chance Beto gets a vote that will close my family businesses.

So your taxes went up by 48% and your landlord shifted his raise in taxes to you to the tune of $10K as well, and this all happened under Cruz's watch, but you're going to vote for Cruz anyway?  The guy who stands with the government that only cuts taxes for the rich? And won't vote for the guy who plans on lowering overall tax rates for small business and individuals? Weird. Sounds like you're upset about what Cruz has allowed to happen to the benefit of the rich, and plan to take it out on his opponent.

Not sure where you’re getting your info from, but regardless what Beto says, he’s voted to raise taxes every chance he has had:  he’s all about promises, better life for people, he’s a stand up guy, he’s plays air drums, etc... but he’s ALL about taxing us for it.  I don’t think you truly understand the talking point ya you’re addressing.  If you think cruz has been bad, I can’t wait for you to see Beto.  California and New York (democratic wastelands of taxes no one can afford) residents have been flooding Texas and Colorado for the past 5 or 6 years to get away from that, and Beto will turn a great state that has 2 of the top 5 fastest growing cities in the country into another tax burdened CA or NY

Check out how much Beto loves to tax people in his voting (even though he says he wants to cut taxes)

Beto O’Rourke has voted against tax cuts for Texas families, and as an El Paso City Council member proposed new taxes and tax increases:

    • Voted for a “Rainfall Tax” on El Paso residents
    • Voted to raise property taxes three times
    • Voted to tax 88 households to purchase a large piece of open land to create a conservation easement
    • As an U.S. Representative (TX-16) voted against tax cuts for Texas families:

Why do right wingers seem so bent out of shape about O'Rouke playing air drums at the drive-thru one time while Baba O'Riley was on? It's like an obsession, lol.

If that’s in reference to me, I honestly hadn’t even heard of it before I read it on here an hour ago and I saw it like in 5 posts so I mentioned it because people seemed to think it made him a candidate all of a sudden.

Anyway, Beto is going to tax people- that’s what Democrats do.  Regardless of what he says, you need only look at how he’s voted like I posted above.

I'm not just talking about you two. I've noticed so many people latching onto it. I guess it's the American version of Canada's Conservatives latching onto the line "Nice hair though" in reference to Trudeau. Right wingers seem to try and find the most trivial, meaningless positive thing and blow it into a tool to use against them. I.e. they actually think such meaningless things make liberals vote for people, so use them as these weird weapons against the candidates. It's quite irrational. I actually think it's a reaction to the right's almost complete failure to ever be cool in any way whatsoever. It's like a defense mechanism.

Liberals in general do indeed prefer taxes so that people get more in the long run, yes. Conservatives, however, like to give tax breaks to those who need them the least.

Oh god.  That sounds about right.  I have tons of friends all rocking Beto signs in their yards and t shirts and they went to watch Willie put on the show for his rally a few weeks ago.... they all just want to vote for the legal weed.  If that’s all I cared about I’d be on board too for sure but austin’s Taxes on homeowners (not just business owners) are sky high already, it’ll suck if Beto gets his way

Legalizing weed is a really big deal though, socially, criminally, and economically (including in terms of taxation). A big enough deal for it to be a perfectly legit reason to vote for someone, for sure. A plus: if it's legalized, that's tons of tax revenue that can then potentially not be placed on homeowners.

True but all in good time- I’m all for weed for the exact reasons you gave, but that’s going to happen regardless.  Weed isn’t enough to make me vote for him because I think Texas will be for weed in the next 10 years regardless if it’s a creep like Cruz who’s in office when it happens.

I don;t think any single issue is big enough with so many important issues.

That said, I have no idea why it's not legal AND taxed.  Like Prostitution.

    the pro-birth folks confuse me.

they seem to want to restrict contraception which leads to a rise in unintended/unwanted prenancies. which leads to a rise in abortions sought.

I should think they would want pregnancies with intention.

I say pro-birth cuz it aint about life and living. they want to cut education, social support, etc...

its once you're born , you can go fuck yourself kid.

Those self-righteous evangelicals have completely lost the plot, which is obvious when you look at their support of the current POTUS - liar, cheater, philanderer, sexual predator, adulterer, and fake religionist. I have no idea how these hypocrites reconcile their supposed religious views with their political views. They don't match up in any way except the anti-choice platform position. Single issue voters who made a deal with the devil.

Excellent, good thing they have the option to not get an abortion if they still accidentally get pregnant.
