  • mmmm, I'm over parachutes now.
But I'm so happy to hear about Ed making that dedication to Jill. After birthing his child he should give her some credit. That's so sweet.
I really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.

lgt...thank you SO much for those details! I'm listening to the Milano boot for the first time now and I couldn't help but fast forward straight to PICTURE IN A FRAME into PARACHUTES. :o Oh....my.....god! This is one of the most overwhelming, dripping sweet double shots ever! :o Wow. And then to continue with BLACK and wow, you guys are just SO loud! You guys sound soooooo amazing! I know what you are talking about now. WOW! I've heard a lot of versions too and YES, this is waaaaay up there on the "best" list. I think I might be forced to make a thread for this version! This encore truly is non-stop goosebumps...like huuuuuge goosebumps! Back to back to back ecstasy. :o *high as a kite* Ok, I'm having a major love affair with Milan at the moment.

Congrats once again on one hell of a gorgeous show lgt! Awww and I LOVE your Stoney love! You have no idea how much hearing that warms my heart. I LOVE it. You should definitely go spread your love over to the Stoney thread. :D You too happyandtrue!!<~~ one of the best names ever. ;)

  • It was bloody incredible to witness this song live in Paris. Everytime I hear it, I get this special feeling that just can't be explained... but it's amazing.
    Truley AMAZING.

Makes me want to do things like running around in the rain just singing, or screaming out the words or just... well, I don't know.

"And love,.... What a different life
Had I not found this love with you"
The thing Eddie does on "love" is just incredible. Woooooow AMAZING.

Thanks for this song, or should I say this peice of art.
    Well, thanks anyway.
    Good-bye for now.

I am so glad you enjoy the bootleg!!! If there are any phrases in Italian you need help with, let me know! :)

Btw, I saw your other thread and had to post in there too, sharing the love! :D

Seriously, it was so so fantastic to be there, incredible!!! I knew Milan would be awesome from the 2000 bootleg (my top destinations to see Pearl Jam were Italy, as I am from there, and also the US West Coast - one more to go! ;)), but it so exceeded my expectations. Goosebumps indeed! I vividly remember stopping for just a second during Black, turning around and seeing everyone in unison clapping and singing: UNREAL. And so moving! The boys gave us such an applause. It really was out of this world! You really could feel the love flowing from the band to the crowd and viceversa. What a show! :)

After seeing them play in the UK, I can see why they chose Italy for their DVD. The crowds! Really their faces say it all! They were having such a great time! And since you're so kind to indulge me, I'll go over the Stone thread to go on about the Pistoia show where I managed to be in front of him! :D

Yeah, I am still on a high a week later! ;)
  • you know many people slagged this song when it first came out and i had to hold my tongue in case everyone thought i was weird, but i am so glad that there is a thread that allows me to share the love for 'Parachutes'.
It gets played at least once a day and is on my ipod, my stereo, my work PC and in my car.
The highlight was seeing it played in Paris. It is truely an amazing song, expertly written both lyrically and musically.

Yet, can you "make love" to the stone??!!
    I did! I think?!

  • I mainly love the fact that you have words from release as your signature. I am a very long loving PJ fan. I have been with them since day one, but I never get on here. I thought I would just drop by and seeing those words brought me back to 1991 again. That is and will always be my favorite PJ song. Like a Rocking Horse in Time..............Thank you.

It definitely grows on you, doesn't it? I've been listening to Avocado Blue recently, and I like it more and more.

i tried, and tried...and no dice there, at least on the studio album. however, i will say i love to READ the lyrics, and hearing it live 2x in italy...i had a new-found appreciation for it there. :)
    Stay with me...

For me Parachutes is very important.
Actually, it is the first song I remembered, when Iive listening the last album for the very first time.
I don't know, why this song made such an impression on me...
maybe, because it contains a special energy...
    ...love, gratitude....

    And also melody is special.
    So untipical for Pearl Jam...
...and when I tried to understand this song...I fell in love with it...
    especially in the part...
"and died I would have fallen from the sky till you...parachutes have opened now..."

    ...why?
Because a have a strange, warm and beautiful feeling at this part...
    ..maybe, I think of myself.
    And of my best friend...

....he helped me in so many ways in my life, but he doesn't realy know for that...he's never realized...
    that...
...he was there for me, when I was sad and dissappointed...when I had problems... he opened my parachute...
...and because of that I will love him to the rest of my life...
...well..he was also the person who, years ago, brought Pearl Jam into my life...
...and completely changed me...into a better person...into a "he from Given to fly." (he floated back down, cause he wanted to share, his key to....)

...maybe that's why I love Parachutes so much...
    Yeah, he is my parachute.
Now, he has a band, and they are realy good...well, they are playing a lot of covers from Pearl Jam...
I realy hope he'll made it in his life (actually...I know someday he'll have a beautiful life and be a star...)..

okay..this post had now changed into a strange story.
    but I had to tell somebody...my feelings...my happiness...because of Pearl Jam...Parachutes.
    and him.
cause, I am not sure, that he knows that.

    thank you, M. !
    ...for being my friend.
    You're my life. My parachute.
    I just want to scream...
    ...hello!!!
My god its been six years...
    never dreamed...
    ...you'd return.
  • I think that this is about what a difference finding "the one" can make on someone's life..how every moment, up until you are caught in midair by that person, is like falling down...then there is that jerk and you are floating again, sometimes higher than ever imagined (ok, I know that I am reading a lot into EV's words, but hey, I think that is what we do)...

My man of four years and I plan to get married in the next year and we are going to use Parachutes as the first song that we dance to at the wedding...can't think of a better way for two Jammers to share that first moment as man and wife....
  • I can't listen to this song and not think about the beautiful woman I'm going to spend the rest of my life with.....

    Great, great song.....
