*sigh* I've been having repeat sessions non-stop lately. I will never get over this beauty or even begin to understand how something this gorgeous can even exist! I am forever 'floored' by you PARACHUTES.
Oh damn! *drowning in my own melt<~~ wtf??:p haha.I know you understand. WOW though! WE WERE ALL THERE! ALL THE SAP SISTERS SAW IT TOGETHER!! How perfect is that!? Thank you so much for posting this B! I'm beyond grateful that you got to hear this song live too!!!!! There's really not anything that you can say in response to experiencing all this first hand. It leaves you in a blissful state of shock! Again-HOW IS THIS SONG EVEN POSSIBLE!?
Speaking of this one live, I have been majorly blessed beyond belief. My deep ass connection with this beauty seems to send out some pretty strong vibes to the boys.:p I realized the other day that there wasn't ONE US performance that I missed. WHAT IN THE!??! *collapses* That is waaaaaaaaay too much to deal with! And I actually lived to talk about it?? Unbelievable! Really though, each time it shined brighter and brighter and each time I 'fell' deeper and depper in love. We are ALL blessed by this masterpiece! What a gift!

I am still amazed at how much I HATED Parachutes the first few times I heard it.
Now it's probably in my top 10
a LOT of people hated this song at first. when the album dropped, peopel were talkign about how this song runied the album. i thought i was in crazy town!
the first listen, i was like, eh... but ever since, i've thought its one of their best tunes ever. so unique, and so beautiful.
That's just beautiful lgt! Congrats!! What an experience huh?? Seriously not of this world. Everyone needs to experience this cloud 9 and then some magic first hand. They NEED to!
bryanfury, thought you were in crazy town!?! haha. I hear that.
Even though I personally cannot understand how anyone could possibly deny this beauty, I must say that I LOVE how it's cupid arrow is hitting more and more each day. Looks like a bunch of the crazy towners are now coming on over to sane loversville. WTF?? haha.
Awww B! It's so true... and I don't ever wanna wake up.

Oh wow, lgt! I just read how at the MILAN show Eddie dedicated the Tom Waits Picture In A Frame cover, in Italian, to the love of his life... the mother of his daughter. *heart hurts* I'm having a major SAP ATTACK over here. That is too beautiful for me to even deal with! And it gets even more overwhelming!! Immediately after all that sweetness is when they go right into PARACHUTES?!?! AHHHHH! *faints*

Unlike most, I don't actually dislike any Pearl Jam song or album. I think they're all masterpieces, down to Bugs in its own oddball way (I actually think the accordian is kinda cool and it so suits the weirdness that makes Vitalogy), yet there's always one song on every album that takes some time for me to fully appreciate. This was my least favourite from the beginning, but after about a month or so, it quickly became one that I really enjoyed. The last few lines drive home every time, and now I feel as emotional over Parachutes as I once did when listening to Black (not that Black doesn't inspire emotion anymore). I never didn't like Parachutes, but it just took me a while to "get" it, and to get why everyone else was so touched by something that, at first, turned me off a little. In the end, I have to say bravo on another good one -- this is a rare treat that is largely underappreciated, as well as such a good morning coffee tune. I've made myself a morning CD since my roommate almost took my head off the last time I tried to play some rockers in the morning. She doesn't mind the mellow though, which makes this one an ideal "morning coffee song" as we've come to call them.

Yes, he did!!! Then my friend told me Jill was crying. It was really quite moving. I could understand the lyrics as I did not know the song, so I could appreciate it. Then, onto Parachutes!!!! Squeee!!!! I was estatic (sp?) I was surrounded by boys, who didn't quite show the same enthusiasm as me, and that's an understatement!!! I LOVED it!!!! I was SO HAPPY!!!!
And then, it was followed by the most amazing version of Black I have ever heard (and I have heard quite a few lately because I am on a "Black with We Belong Together tag kick!). The crowd participation was really out of this world. We would not let them stop it!! They gave us a huge applause!
That whole encore gave me goosebumps. Seriously.
Also, I got a spot in front of Stone, and it was great to see him having such a great time! Huge smiles, pointing at people, doing the duckwalk... I can appreciate even more now what you guys experienced in SF!! Too bad, I didn't have my Stone shirt in Milan and I felt kinda alone in my Stone loving among those dudes, some quite keen on moshing! (I should post this in the Stone thread really, ops!) But the whole band was on fire and having a hell of a time. Oh my god! It was *fantastic*!!!! I'll never forget it.
Sorry, I just keep going on about it!!! But seriously... SO SO AWESOME!!!
I can't believe I heard Parachutes!!! so happy!
ETA- re: the intro in Italian to the Tom Waits cover, I just remembered that Eddie also said that he met her 6 years ago in Milan.
Btw, I was very impressed with Eddie's Italian, to be honest. Sometimes, he would fumble, but most of the time it was spot on!
yeah...I so much love that song, I was sooooo glad to hear it live in Paris, such a beautiful song!!! The melody is just gorgeous, I close my eyes every time I hear it and I'm completely gone...haha, Bercy was empty to me at that moment!
Oh and Ed dedicated the song to his "beautiful family" if I remember correctly...(sigh) what a beautiful song!!! haha
how freaking gorgeous *is* this song? the words are hitting me like a sack of bricks lol
Who here has seen Hoodwinked? This song, Parachutes, came right to mind at the part when Red Riding Hood opens her hood as a parachute and they start playing a Beatles--esque song to it?----you know, in the same way that Parachutes has that Beatles sound to it. Did anyone else think this? Do you think this is some kind of PJ reference or that there was a PJ fan on staff in the making of the movie's soundtrack?
Yeah! The best song. I love the Stone. He da man. Did someone say Thin Air? Yes, I am happyandtrue. I love Parachutes so much...heard it a few times this tour...Me so lucky. Love to all

Seriously, it was so so fantastic to be there, incredible!!! I knew Milan would be awesome from the 2000 bootleg (my top destinations to see Pearl Jam were Italy, as I am from there, and also the US West Coast - one more to go! ), but it so exceeded my expectations. Goosebumps indeed! I vividly remember stopping for just a second during Black, turning around and seeing everyone in unison clapping and singing: UNREAL. And so moving! The boys gave us such an applause. It really was out of this world! You really could feel the love flowing from the band to the crowd and viceversa. What a show!
After seeing them play in the UK, I can see why they chose Italy for their DVD. The crowds! Really their faces say it all! They were having such a great time! And since you're so kind to indulge me, I'll go over the Stone thread to go on about the Pistoia show where I managed to be in front of him!
you know many people slagged this song when it first came out and i had to hold my tongue in case everyone thought i was weird, but i am so glad that there is a thread that allows me to share the love for 'Parachutes'.
It gets played at least once a day and is on my ipod, my stereo, my work PC and in my car.
