the band went big and all change, for music intusrty and how fans listen and pay attention to bands ..pj went out there and said,,hey..we out here 20 years now and we have huge history and future,.,all change after that,,all knew them after that, all want to see them playing ,all want to book them,,the way they tour .they sold out huge palces and venues,10c change, the stage gear,merch..ALL went huge.more organized, more pro0ffecional,.and same goes with eddie solo as well.
.the band made specific choices where to play, with who other artist will go on stage,in festivals philly 12,ny 15 some exable, big ballparks in usa and crazy huge stadium like san siro, roma etc. sold out as well..im saying all this cos when dates and venues are out soon,,u will undestand how huge name is eddie vedder in music in our times and all want to see him,,well deserved to eddie and the band..
they worked really hard and now is up there with the top of the top worldwide0 -

Saying they are too big is the reason they aren’t touring and are selective? I don’t buy that at all. They’ve played 4 US cities in 3 years and one album in a decade. I’m not sure they are as “huge” as some of us think they are. Yes they can sell out stadiums I’m Seattle, Boston, Chicago. And probably in Philly in NYC if they wanted.
I’d say they are following the stones path on the downhill run of their career but the stones are recording and touring way more than PJ.
I do agree that once PJ20 happened, I think that was the band peaking.
Shows are still great and I’ll still go to shows and enjoy it for what it is.
They’ve lost a desire to experient as a band and try new things. And that’s ok, it happens.
Good for Eddie on selling out festivals and playing corporate gigs.
Hooefully at some point in the future he’ll want to create music and play with the band that got him here.
I mean even seeing Eddie solo is getting a little repetitive with no new album. But happy for those who get shows.

I've seen Ed three times now. Manchester in the Apollo in 2012, Dublin and Cork in 2017. The Apollo and Cork gigs were very amazing and so enjoyable.
I did not enjoy Dublin as much. Even though our seats were just off the main floor (second row), the venue (the old Point Depot) was too big to really enjoy it with people talking constantly and in and out for drinks. It just wasn’t the same, so there is no way I would go to a festival to watch a solo acoustic gig.

Jeff wants to record more but in the past we've heard that he hates to tour. Is the opposite true with Ed? He wants to tour more but isn't interested in recording?___________________________________________

I guess the bigger question right now is Innings Fest. Is that truly a one-off show or is he about to announce spring U.S. dates? That more than Europe in the summer would kill my hopes for any new music this year.

Yeah it's increasingly looking like the days of year-in, year-out extensive tours are done. I've made my peace with it, though. Might fly out for an Eddie show this year but what I really want is that new album. And I thought the wait for Lightning Bolt was tough..."Hey Eddie, great show-- fuck you!"
