We do our best to keep the Blantons out of the hands of resellers. And way to many people who are looking for Blantons are looking to get the 8 toppers and never even drink the stuff. There are literally tens of thousands of bottles sitting on people's shelves collecting dust. Never being opened or drank.
I've been known to vet customers and their reasons for wanting a bottle. Took a call the other day from a customer looking to spend whatever was necessary to buy a bottle as a wedding present. Asked her some questions and explained allocations and told her not to pay big money just yet. To keep trying back.

I got lucky and finished my stopper collection a few years ago when bottles still hit shelves for MSRP. Not sure I'd even bother trying nowadays. Drank every bit of that juice - easily the best part of the chase...
For those of you in the San Diego area Belching Beaver Brewery has private barrel selections for resale. I got the VIP treatment at the Vista location and they had an Old Forester, Woodford Reserve, and Jack Daniels Barrel Select for retail. I picked the Woodford to bring home.

Sweet looking setup! How’s the Lost Monarch? Been meaning to grab a bottle.

Thanks! I probably spend a little too much time in that corner of the house. Haha.
I really like Lost Monarch. For the price, it's a great bourye. Way better than the batch of High West bourye I had a few years ago, at less than half the cost. Plus, they plant a tree for every bottle sold. On my 3rd bottle...

I'd be inclined to try the JD and see if they are stepping things up like they did w their barrel proof offerings.

Mid Winters Dram has been on my radar for a bit now and the price keeps rising... It sucks when you want to drink something and prices get so high it's just not worth it.

Its delicious but the price is too high on that too. I had it in a bar a few times, but have not had it in a while now.
Double Rye is the way to go for High West. Affordable and delicious.

I am a buyer at $130. Just to have it on hand. Buying a second one is not in the cards though.
So this and the William Larue Weller AC are my white whales.

Yeah, I used to like High West's Rendezvous Rye, but the last bottle I got was off (new blend?) and was def not worth the price. Double Rye is just as good these days and way cheaper. Midwinter is still one I keep my eyes out for. Got lucky last year to nab one at retail. I'm in SLC a lot for work, maybe I'll drive up to Park City and see if I can grab this years release.

I couldn't find them for that. Passed on $120 back then...
Last two years I have passed on BTAC bottes of $400 for the Stagg and the Handy. I would get those for under $200 and to me that was worth it.
I would pay $400 for the Larue though as they are always $800 and up. Just once though!
Went to Ohana last weekend and stayed with friends in San Clemente. Went hunting for some Pliny and came upon this convenience store with a great selection of allocated bottles but notice the prices...

Stagg was the best bourbon I ever had (2018). 2oz pours for something like $20 each. Never tried another BTAC, but Laurue would be my top pick.
Weller 12 is worth $75 tops if you really want to own a bottle.
Anyone try the Barrel Seagrass? I highly recommend. Let the bottle open up a few weeks after the first pour and you have a complex, unique rye that keeps you coming back for more.

You try Basil Haydens Rye? Really good!
No, I'm surprised because I didn't enjoy their regular bourbon.
I just wrapped up my own little Bourbon Heritage Month…. 31 different pours over 30 days; killed some really good bottles and opened a few new ones. Cheers!

Is it the 10 year or the dark one?
No, this one. I have heard a lot of people enjoy their rye over their bourbon so you aren't alone. I bought the 10yo to try then I read reviews that it is overpriced... So I haven't bothered opening it yet.

Plenty of good bourbon there that isn't expensive. Dram and the Handy BTAC caught my eye.
What were the differences in the Woodford bottles? I can't read them.

I’m going to miss those Four Roses Small Batch Limited Editions, especially the 2019.
Picked this one up at Costco today. Usually goes for $60 but was only $45 so figured it was worth a shot. Pretty tasty so far...
I went to Louisville in may and unfortunately missed the re-opening of Rabbit Hole by a few weeks. But I got to try their core four at a local bar and liked them all!

Seagrass is really good!! So unique with so many layers of flavor. It will def be one in my collection as long as they keep putting it out there.

Weller SR I got for $19 at a total wine in Connecticut just 2 years ago lol.
Taylor is another one! Put it in another bottle and the price is at least cut in half. And that includes the rye.
