looks good....I didn't care much for the 1792.  Haven't had Willet or Pin Hook

The Willet was very smooth. I was impressed, but then again I am not a big whiskey fan; however, it's one of the best I have had.

Didn't try the Pinhook, but the Willet was good.

The pot still Willet gets a ton of negative reviews.  That said, I think falls into the "decent" category.
That's a nice batch to have fun with.  As I've had all of them, here's my order of preference...
    Old Forester 1897
    Makers 46
    Elijah Craig Small Batch
    Buffalo Trace
    1792 Small Batch
    Willet
    Pinhook

Local spot had a nice Fathers Day treat today. WFP is my personal favorite bourbon. Glad to get one (at retail) since my last one is long gone. They also had Weller CYPB, Elmer T Lee and Stagg Jr batch 15. Could only choose one of the “big dogs” in addition to the 12 year. Easy choice for me.

Someone needs to get me a bottle of weller at a reasonable price
  • bbiggsbbiggs Posts: 6,950
^ I feel bad saying this, given how hard it is for many to get, but it’s one of the “easier” tough bottles to get by me. I can get 12 and 107 about quarterly which is much faster than I drink them. It’s crazy. Full proof and CYPB are once to twice a year tops.

    That's a nice haul.
    What state are you in?

    ^ I’m in IL.

Yeah it’s not even an option for me. With the state stores in PA all weller bottles are raffled off.

You're lucky that Illinois gets enough that stores can put out that many bottles.

That Full Proof is really good!
If a local shop gets one around here, they'd charge like $700 for it.

    Bastards!

$700?!  Where are you located?  That is ridiculous for a retail store to mark up a bottle to secondary pricing (or above).  I paid $59.99.

    EVERY store does that now...

If my local store starts doing that then I guess I'd stop drinking allocated bourbon.  F that nonsense.

Which is why I don't buy anything marked up anymore.

Can't blame you.  We believe in the same philosophy of paying retail only.  Secondary isn't in my vocabulary for bourbon.

I'm in Phoenix.  All the local shops play the secondary game.  My only shot at an allocated bottle is through Total Wine's twice a year release to those of a certain "status level".
I don't do secondary either.  At times, I'll see something good and if it's marked up $10-20, I'll def consider it.  Beyond that...it's a big no.

Still waiting for my first bottle of Weller FP. I'm assuming stores in my area have to settle for split cases of it, so my best shot might be a store pick someday. Someday...

My only shot at a FP is through the Total Wine allocation lottery.
If you see one for retail anywhere, it's a def purchase.
    And...
If your in a store that is selling it for retail, grab as many as you can, and look around at other stuff, because if they are selling it for retail, they might have some other gems selling for retail.

At my store we sell everything for retail.
However, all of the unicorns are no longer made available for sale. They all go behind the bar and are sold by the pour. This way more people get to try them.
