The boxset is a nice and complete item that I am very much looking forward to adding to the collection.

I guess, but maybe in the future they can put a nice collection of pressings together.

Am I misreading or is there controversy now surrounding the product received?

I don't know if it is controversy as such, but certainly some confusion/disappointment with the records not being consistent in terms of being
    sealed

    And that (hopefully) rogue #593.

These weren't initially advertised as x/500 - I think that info may have come later. Hoping that #593 stamp was just an error.

Wouldn't it be good if they pressed more than 500?  I m just Thinking that it means more fans were able to purchase it.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......

Yup, to me it doesn't matter either way.
It was advertised a certain way, and that's what we got. The limited part of it wasn't revealed until later. That was just a nice-to-have.

The only thing that I'm not too keen on is that we're supposedly getting the older represses of Vs and Vitalogy, when there are updated, better pressings out there. But I'll wait for @MedozK's assessment, he's the pro here :)

My whole problem is with the inconsistency of the product. Looking back I probably should have waited to see what pressings they were putting in the box. I really wanted a recut of Vs. and Vitalogy, since there 2011 releases were so bad, and I knew they had been recut in 2016 for EU Record Industry pressings.

haha, no pro, but here is what I am thinking.

From what I understand, here is what is included:
Ten - As far as I know this is a recut of the original mix, pressed at MPO
Vs - The 2011 NRP cut United Pressing
Vitalogy - The 2011 NRP cut United Pressing
No Code - 2016 SST cut MPO Pressing Yield - 2016 SST cut MPO Pressing
Yield - 2016 SST cut MPO Pressing Yield - 2016 SST cut MPO Pressing
These have not been confirmed, but I would believe:
Binaural - 2017 SST cut MPO Pressing
Riot Act - 2017 SST cut MPO Pressing
Pearl Jam - 2017 SST cut MPO Pressing - Confimed
Backspacer - 2009 Golden cut RTI Pressing
Lightning Bolt - 2013 Golden cut United Pressing.

If anyone has any runout information that can confirm or disprove my thoughts please let me know.

But again, for a nice product and complete pressing continuity they should have all used new cuts by SST and pressed at MPO.

And if they didn't have the time or money to do that..... they should have waited to issue a box. Again, all of the releases contained within are readily available.

They didn't really press 500. They had 500+ boxes and printed a COA. The contents of the box, from what it looks like, were just pulled from their inventory to fill the boxes ordered. And that is what makes the unsealed new reissues peculiar.

The whole thing is odd.  They just put these together with what they had in the warehouse and added the new represses. And then made a 593/500 coa.
I'm like an opening band for your mom.

they made some boxes. filled like mystery boxes. i think the sealed Backspacer and LBs could have a few coloreds floating around ?
when sold, it had the allure of a little more than that. i like it regardless

The incredibly rare 593 out of 500.  It's not even limited.
I'll give you $5.93 for that bit of paper with the crease plus I'll pay postage. Deal?

All of the records were unsealed, except for Backspacer and Lightning Bolt which were still sealed, which I thought was a little odd?
Well that's BS,  where else can you sell opened merchandise without declaring it.
Every record vendor on the internet. I get the occasional new unsealed record. Doesn’t happen too often, but still fairly common.
Fairly common? Not. I've got over 500 records and never received an opened record that I didn't know was opened before hand. I don't know of anybody else that has either. Could be played already for all you know.
I have received records not sealed from retailers also, so your 500 to zero ratio is impressive!

Its pretty rare here in the UK to receive an unsealed record. 15 years ago it was really common with EU pressings, now they only come opened if there is a quality control issue I find, that recent Eels live 3lp came opened because there was a problem with them not being properly purple and practically black.  Some retailers ask if you want them opened and shipped outside the sleeve to avoid damage in the post.

Boxsets don't usually have sealed records in them. To be honest I thought they would be unsealed inside then the box shrinkwrapped but it sounds like they were assembled at the warehouse or something. Its a real mystery, could it be that Lightning Bolt and were kept sealed to protect the diecut sleeve.
