    Clam pizza??  WTF?  Lol

So with all of the unacceptable versions of pizza that get dissed, fucking clams are on the OK list?

Yeah, man. we were visiting a friend there, and being a red sauce, mozz purist, I thought that it sounded icky.

First of all, it's a white pie, which I'd always thought was just wrong. Sauce was always an essential for me -- my favorite part, really. Next, it has a whole mess of fucking clams on it. Now I love steamers, but that was always the extent of my clam enjoyment -- OK, that and the few that come with an order of seafood fra diavolo or in a serving of paella. Still, what, in my mind, basically amounted to an open-face hot clam and cheese sandwich sounded beyond fucking disgusting. But I trusted our friend and tried it, and it was absolutely delicious. We ended up ordering another one and taking most of the margherita pie home that we had ordered for me home.

I still need to go back and try the tomato pie sometime. That's supposed to be good as well.
And Pepe's uses freshly shucked Ipswich clams.  Second to none. Garlic, olive oil, pecorino romano and fresh parsely.  That is it.
Definitely old school purist as someone said.  There is a urban legend that Frank Pepe created the pie because he was allergic to tomatoes.

Fries with garlic mayo yum.  Drunk food at 3 am=Domino's pizza dipped in ranch.  Otherwise mayo should never come close to a pizza.
Japanese mayo is delicious n a lot of things, but pizza is not one of them. Good on hot dogs though.

I've been to the OG Pepe's in New Haven. The clam pie is killer.

This thread is inspiring me to get back into pizza making. Might try proove the dough for 2 days. I need to find a granite slab to act as a pizza stone in the wall oven.

This came with our oven when we purchased it years ago. Does anybody know what kind of material it looks like? Is it terracotta?
I want to try make a pizza on it. Need to buy a pizza paddle but.

With the stone, how long do you leave it in the oven to heat up?

You think maybe that might be too long for mine? I posted a photo of it a few posts up. My stone is thin which is why I ask.

Made a deep last night.  48 hr cold prove.  Mushroom, spinach, artichoke.
Been tinkering with my deep recipe for years.  The dough got a little poofy-er than I wanted, but the whole thing was ridiculously good!  Best yet.

About an hour's wait but it was nice out and we were breaking up a 7 hour drive so it was fine.

Pizza....I love clams and love this style pizza - so the White Clam pie was really good.  We ordered a large one of those and a small plain...half mozz, half goat.

The surprise was that the half goat fucking whooped ass on the other two types.  (It was suggested by the waitress as my wife asked questions)
.if I were going again I would order a small clam and a large pie with sauce - the crust and sauce were both killer!
