I have not yet had the best pizza I've ever had.
In March I am going to Mohegan sun and will take a side trip to frank Pepe s in new haven, Connecticut.  That could overtake papa s.
My two cents is to certainly get the clam one but also to get the standards and try a bunch.  I liked the standards more than the clam version.
The crust is out of this world on them all....and you wait in line for an hour, so you are twice as hungry.  ;)
So is frank Pepe s your number 1?
No, but it was indeed the tits.
    Really very good.
So what is your number one?
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......
  • Mmm.  So tough.
Might be the Sicilian at Manco and Manco in Ocean City.
That upside down @ Brooklyn Square Pizza was fucking amazing, as well
The last one in contention would be Pizzeria Mozza in LA.
Those are all "non traditional pizzas". - for the best traditional, I can't make up my mind.  Have had so many great ones.  Maybe Famiglia on 8th Ave in Manhattan.
When it comes down to it, for me....the best will likely always be a Neopolitan or Sicilian style pizza.
I want to try that one you just posted as your best ever.

  • Living where we live, I expect my #1 will change a bunch of times in the future.
Also, want to check out this place in LA when I am there next...
    https://pizzana.com/locations/

    Margherita Al Crudo.

Saw this in Chef recently.  Looks amazing

Good pizza on the west side? Other than Suprema. Boy be trippin’.
    I SAW PEARL JAM
  • Is Suprema the place im thinking of?
I knew it was on 8th close to MSG.
    Very good.

Brett I got your day planned out for you.  Now you are going to have to buck up and be a big boy but I think you can handle it.

    First stop:  https://www.papastomatopies.com
Then you drive 200 yards up the road and try another pie at:

    second stop:  https://www.delorenzostomatopies.com

Some people swear by papa's, other people love delorenzos.   Both are ranked nationally so why not try both in the same day?  I guess it's like a pat's vs. geno's type thing.

    Dessert:  https://dolceandclementes.com
This store was on diner's, drive ins and dives.  Get your self a nice cannoli but make sure to pick up some prosciutto bread (you'll thank me later) and other amazing italian food/pastries.

Now I know you are a vodka guy but give working dog a try (about ten minutes away from everything).  I like their pinot grigio and rose.  Very cool spot to just sip on some vino amongst the vines.

yeah that upside down is killer!  Might have to try famiglia next time I am in the city.  is manco in OC maryland or nj?

  • NJ.

I like your day tour...not a wine guy, but the other stuff sounds great.
Must be Suprema per Dankind in NYC.  I looked on the map and saw the Famiglia but I know it is right by MSG on 8th.  Take his word for it!

Speaking of cannoli, I mentioned mikes pastry in Boston to a guy from Boston this weekend and he looked at me like I had two heads. He said to the locals that mikes is garbage and modern pastry is exponentially better. Can anyone here attest to that?

Next time I know where to go. I will say I wasn’t impressed with the cannoli but did like the cheesecake at mikes. Couldn’t believe the number of people standing there waving their cash around.

I wouldn't call Mike's garbage, but Modern is definitely better, especially the cannoli.
Pistachio macaroons at Mike's are pretty good.
    This weekend we rock Portland

I went to some famous cupcake shop either where the Boston marathon started or finished.   Cupcakes were on point!  I don’t remember seeing a ton of bakeries in Boston.

Italian bakeries (the ones mentioned above and others) are in the North End, mainly on Hanover Street.

Good to know. If I remember correctly, modern is just a couple of blocks south of mikes, right?

Yeah they are very close, on same street, on opposite sides maybe a couple hundred yards apart.

literally right across the street....cheap, quick and it was only me eating. today’s leftovers were better than when it was “fresh.”

    but, yes, lame.

Traders Joes Lavash flatbread pizza... not bad for a quick homemade pie. Makes for a nice cracker crust.
