Yup. The original lead vocalists of three out of the four big grunge bands are no longer with us. Kia kaha Eddie.

I agree, no speculation until cause of death is announced. It could be anything, doesn't matter "what it looks like". At least Cornell's death will be properly examined unlike Cobain.

  • I am deeply saddened.  What a tremendous talent.  Such a terrible loss.  It's hard to comprehend.  Thoughts are with those close to him and everyone moved by his immense talent.

I was at this show and this version touched me that night and like so many times, this song gives me great comfort in times of great sadness...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpjS1XbbgJo

  • I'm stunned by this. Wow.

Bigguy... your situation is a weird one.

I'll never understand suicide. It defies our nature and most basic instinct. There's always a sunny day ahead- just wait for the clouds to move out of the way.

Just ... horrible. Absolutely shocked, stunned and speechless.
Still have amazing memories of seeing Soundgarden in '94 on the Superunknown tour and that's become one of my favorite records of all time. Saw them a few years ago and they were great; was supposed to see them next week. Superunkown and Badmotorfinger have held up so well and I've really gotten back into those records in the last few years.
The Temple tour was one of the high points of PJ history, and it was so great to see Chris at PJ20 and interact with the band in recent years. It was clear how much they loved him and vice versa.
This is very, very hard. Andy ... and now Chris.
I know rock music has always had its losses, but this one is so tough and troubling because it seemed like Chris had been through fire and was doing really well in recent years.
The music will always remain and it will heal some of this in time. But still ...
Life can be very difficult. But life always goes on.
We'll always have that voice and the words and the songs. Soundgarden were an amazing band and truly one of a kind.

This tour felt a little weird for SG. Even last night, it appeared they took the stage early. Videos sound good but not a lot of energy. Easy to speculate and hindsight now, but wonder if there was something going on. Either way, just a total shame and sadness. I will miss this f'n band. In many ways, they were Seattle at its best.

I shouldn't be this upset over someone I never knew personally.

This one is tough to take.

Speechless this morning. A few nights ago I was thinking to myself why I haven't seen a Soundgarden show yet. Last fall I was trying to justify a trip to Seattle for the ToTD shows, but thought they'd do a second leg in the Midwest.

Amazing voice and talent. Goddamn he will be missed.

So stunned to hear this news this morning.  cried in my car listening to the reports.  I was never the biggest Soundgarden fan but enjoyed Audioslave and his solo work.  52 still too young. So sad for his family and friends.  RIP Chris.

I haven't posted on the forum in quite a while, but today I feel compelled. I'm very shocked by this news. I would always play his music loud in my living room & if I had friends over I'd try to introduce them to Chris Cornell's voice. I used to pick a song and say "here is the voice of a angel." I just listened to TOTD album 10 times or so last week, he truely was a great artist and one of a kind vocalist. I'll miss him. RIP.
