I'd been listening to Seasons a lot lately. It's one of my favorite songs ever. Sick and numb.Disbelief. And then feeling grateful I decided on a whim to see TOTD last year.

I'm finding myself refreshing this thread just as often as I'm refreshing the news. There's something about sharing in this here that is making it a little easier to deal with.

I can't imagine what SG and PJ are feeling right now.

Well - I'm at a loss for words. Shock I guess. I've been a fan of Soundgarden and Chris Cornell for a long, long time. Like everyone who appreciated and loved his art, waking up to the news he has passed is almost incomprehensible. He was my favorite artist and its so hard to imagine he's gone. I've had incredible experiences tied to both Chris individually and to the band. I saw Soundgarden perform 4 times in Seattle, all post their reunion in 2010. I saw Chris perform three times solo, as the lead singer for Audioslave, Mad Season, and as the lead for the Temple of the Dog show last November. My sons middle name is Cornell. I'll cherish each as a memory where I got to connect in person to something/someone that has helped shape who I am since i was 14. Its hard to believe that the opportunities to experience that again are gone. Thoughts for his friends and family. Thank you for sharing your art with us for 33 years, and may you rest in peace.

Not enough can be said about the Soundgarden albums but aside from those works..  I remember when I heard Can't Change Me for the first time in 2001 (it was realeased in 1999 I think).  I as in college and it really showed to me how great of a vocalist Chris Cornell was.

I feel like I just lost one of my best friends from high school. I was 14 when I became a fan of PJ/Soundgarden...got kicked in the head during Ministry as a kid during their Lollapalooza tour but I was so damn excited to see them I didn't care. This is devastating news, and if it was a suicide...I feel for him. I'd been close a few times in my life, and as much as you think someone has everything in the world going for them it is truly a terrifying world when you can't get out of your own head. RIP to someone who has brought so, so much to all of us.

My fiancee messaged me a few minutes ago and asked me to stay off the internet today. She's worried the speculation over the cause of death will upset me. But like you said...the more you read about it, the more real it becomes, which somehow makes it easier to process? I dunno, but one way or another it's helping.

It's unbelievable that such a voice has been stilled. My heart aches for his family and friends, and for all of us who were moved by his music.

I won't believe suicide until it's officially announced. He seemed to be in a good place.

I never thought I could be this devastated over the loss of someone I never personally met.

"Truly sucks" could be the understatement of all time. You were at the show??
Yes I was there.  They were loud and Chris' vocals rang my ears.  Who would have known?  And the last song they played included a bit of Zeppelins "In my time of dying."  Very eerie now.

It just seems like we're losing way too many great musicians too early these past few years. What the hell is going on? Almost every great voice I grew up on in the 80's and 90's is gone well before they should be. They give of themselves so much and bring so much to our lives. I'll be listening to Soundgarden and Audioslave alot today.
    It's a hopeless situation...
