He tagged Zeppelin's In My Time Of Dying during Slaves & Bulldozers last night, which i remember thinking was really cool when I finally realized what he was doing... I haven't followed Soundgarden as religiously as PJ, but someone please tell me that's just a coincidence and it's something he does during every performance...

Ive seen Chris and soundgarden 15-20 times over the years. On the Scream tour was able to get right in front and then chat for a couple minutes after the show back stage. Just a great guy. Its going to be one of those "what was i doing" days as I stumble thru the motions. Losing your heros truly sucks. RIP Chris.

We almost went to the show last night, but then didn't. My thoughts go out to his family.
This already is a sucky day :( RIP Chris Cornell.

Feeling so sad for Chris's family and friends, and of course Pearl Jam, who were so close to him. Sending my love, prayers and condolences to all who loved him. May he rest in peace.

If true, Who knows.  Could have hidden his depression well... otherwise well grounded people can have a bad reaction to a medication...

They have performed "In My Time of Dying" before. Hard Rock Calling 2012, for instance.

I know people battle demons that may never go away but I always thought of him as a guy who had survived the most turbulent time in his life.  I thought he made it.  Really sad.

I know it's a natural reaction when someone dies unexpectedly, but we can please stop speculating on the cause of death? We have absolutely no idea what happened. All we know is that we lost someone who meant an awful lot to an awful lot of people.

So shocked and sad to wake up to this news. So grateful that I saw him last year on his solo tour - that was a bucket list item for me. I loved the sound of his voice. Rest in peace Chris.

Just after the re-release of the Singles soundtrack. Just listened to it yesterday. Too sad. We lost another great talent way to young. RIP Chris Cornell.

I'm so shocked! I can't believe it! I'm at a loss for words. I was lucky enough to see Soundgarden last week in Indianapolis, and was lucky to see Chris Cornell solo last year, both shows amazing! RIP Chris Cornell! I'm so incredibly sad! :(

Chris Cornell Death Being Investigated by Detroit Police as 'Possible Suicide'

    http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/rock/7800829/chris-cornell-detroit-police-investigation-possible-suicide

Police in Detroit tell Billboard that they are investigating Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell's death as a possible suicide, though it is too early in the investigation to determine the grunge icon's cause of death. The 52-year-old singer's body was found unresponsive in his Detroit hotel room at midnight on Thursday (May 18). Director Michael Woody of the Detroit Police Department's media relations said on Thursday morning that officers received a 911 call at midnight from an unnamed person at the MGM Grand Casino in downtown Detroit requesting assistance.

"When the units arrived they were met by a gentleman who indicated that Chris Cornell had been found in his room," Woody said. "When officers went to the room they found Chris Cornell laying in his bathroom, unresponsive and he had passed away. We are investigating it as a possible suicide but we need to wait on the medical examiner to determine the cause and manner of death."

Detroit's WXYZ reported that police said Cornell's wife called a family friend and asked him to check on the singer's well-being and when the friend forced opened the hotel room door he found Cornell on the bathroom floor.

Cornell performed a concert with Soundgarden at the Fox Theatre on Wednesday night (May 17). Woody said that police are unable to discuss what was found in Cornell's hotel room at the time of his death. "We are at the beginning stages of the investigation and we can't say anything about the scene," he said.

Spokesperson Brian Bumbery called the dea"sudden and unexpected" and said Cornell's wife and family were shocked by it. In a statement, he said the family would be working closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause and asked for privacy
