so if some of us are grossly exaggerating the dirtiness of shoe tread, at the same time as underestimating how gross someone's feet are, would you be ok with someone walking/driving around your neighbourhood, stopping for gas and going to the washroom there, and then coming into your house and walking around with those same bare feet?
Who cares? Do you guys lick or eat off the floor? If the floor gets dirty I bust out my vacuum or swiffer and clean it up.
My kids do all the time, kids are gross.
This debate is great.
Agreed, kids are gross. The other day My five year old decided to pissin the garbage can instead of the toilet. Good times.
glad I have girls. LOL
I don’t know bud, my daughter is the toughest of the five. That death look bro!!!!

haha, i hear ya. my oldest has such a nasty death look her eyebrows seem to defy physics and actually go lower than her eyes. it's like out of a cartoon.
I'm looking at the bottom of my shoes now. Aside from being visibly discolored from normal wear, there is no caked-on dirt or loose debris that could be tracked anywhere. Now I'm sure I could get a high-powered magnifying glass out and be proven differently, but when we're talking microscopic scale then we've reached the point of insignificance.
my porch mats get quite dirty and need to be cleaned often.
Of course, I'm not saying it's like that all the time. But that's why you have mats, so you can wipe your feet before going inside. No different than floor mats in a car or the carpet or hardwood in the house.

well I still shower even though I dont see any caked on dirt or loose debris on me. Stupid me.
I only wear shoes in the house if I am wearing cleats that will mark the floor up real good. Otherwise, I take my shoes off and walk on my hands. Isn’t that the norm?

Well no wonder you are grossed out by people wearing shoes indoors! I bet you are a big hit with the bridesmaids as well, ha

I'll tell you one thing, I sure as hell wouldn't eat food I drop on a floor I don't control the cleanliness of. In my own home, sure, I eat food that falls on the floor all the time. Can't say I've ever licked a floor; tabletop, yes, yes I have.
So when pj plays indoors next should I remove my shoes in order to be polite?
The indoor arena I grew up with had a carpeted concourse once inside. The deadheads loved the shows there. If they arrived wearing shoes, they were very quickly shoeless.

There was a bar in college we went to that had carpet on some levels; super gross. You could feel your shoes wanting to remain behind every time you picked up your foot. The equivalent of moving in to a carpeted male dorm room. Yikes! They should have shoe condoms for treacherous terrain like that.

Well, where were you for the largest inauguration ever? They needed high class talent like that in between Toby Keith and 3 Doors Down.

Exactly. It's a floor, not a table.... although either way, I clean them.
What are the no shoes no matter what people's thoughts on pets on the tables and counters?
Finally! I'm trying to catch up on this ridiculous thread. I have a dog, and have always had dogs. They go in and out of the house all day long. The last thing I care about is people wearing shoes in the house. And I know it sounds strange, but we also sweep, mop and vacuum. And PJSoul, your 100% Asian observation is accurate where I am. It is 100% Asians, mostly East Indians in my area, that are shoeless indoors. It is easy to tell which houses they live in on my street because their shoes are on the front porch (and occasionally I see posts from them about their shoes being stolen, lol). I'd say about 1% of the people I know remove shoes in their house, and I typically avoid going over since I prefer to remain dressed when out.

Nobody cares what Sweden does, especially with their shoes
Norway is better than Sweden...just sayin’. And fuck that fika, I’ll take my coffee to go!
"Norwegians are so adamant about their “no shoes inside” policy, they even enforce it at primary schools—so that children learn it from a young age. "
That has no relevance to what I just said...Why are you hung up on shoes? But if shoe wearing is your measure, Norway is definitely way ahead of Sweden!
Because the context of this threads discussion is for the moment different shoe-wearing cultures. Get a grip on how social situations work and how to act within them Cruzie.
And yes, I bet Norway does a lot better than Sweden. Where is the conflict in that?
So you must agree that Norway is better than Sweden since they push taking shoes off more. I don’t have to worry too much about awkward social situations here, as people in general are pleasant with each other and enjoy socializing out in public. I couldn’t handle the Swede’s social awkwardness...just sounds snobby.
You're creating some false narrative here to back me into a corner. What has "pushing harder" to do with anything.
I would think - in the context of shoewearing - that Norway is similar to Sweden -- "it is absurd to wear your outdoor shoes inside your house".
And seems all sane people in this thread agree. Regardless of where they're from.
False narrative? Nothing false about Norway being the better country overall...especially in the shoe wearing contex...Tell me again, what culture is it weird or outside of the cultural norm to take shoes off indoors? Seems that YOU are the one creating a false narrative...pretty “pedi” if you ask me, lol. (Pedi/ petty). I take my shoes off indoors, but personally, I’d rather have a shoe wearer in my house than a snobby Swede with an inferiority complex, but that is just me...
again, I, nor anyone I know, ever wears shoes indoors, unless it's a separate pair specifically for that purpose.
Exactly, so do many I know in this not greatest country in the world, but it wouldn’t bug me either way if someone did...unless they had dog shit on their shoes or something. It would probably be best if some people left their shoes on, though. There are some nasty footed people out there and I would rather a place not smell like unhygienic feet, lol
it would bug me. I find it rude. it's not snobby at all. it's just rude to walk into someone's house and leave your shoes on.
and I don't understand why people keep saying he has an inferiority complex. if anything, it's the opposite (which I also don't believe).
You find it rude, but as others have stated, it is household by household. I’ll agree to disagree with the last part, but thanks for the laugh!
I think one person stated it is household by household. I have never been to any canadian's house where people leave their shoes on. NOT. ONE.
Hell, I’ve been to Canada and two out of the three houses I visited were shoe wearing indoors. maybe providencial as to the “standard”?
where?

Late to this discussion, but I call bullshit. Nobody wears their shoes inside a home. Hell... even trade workers doing renovations place sleeves over their boots when they come into someone's home.
Dog shit. Spit. General filth. All on the bottom of your shoes... soon to be all over the inside of your home.
But whatever. If people see no difference from the sidewalk and their living room floor... who am I to judge?
