How did Team Trump Treason “order” Mattis to leave? Did he tweet to him, “Get out now!?” Or send Pence over to the pentagon? Or have that slimeball call him while he listened in? Such a woosie.

It's 'wussy' in the US. In Canada... it 'woosie'.

    What the fuck
    What the fuck

Trump claims that he has such great respect for the military but he refuses to visit any deployed troops because he's afraid.  He definitely did not do this in person, he is a keyboard warrior but has no actual balls when he is face to face with someone. The only reason Mattis and he were in the same room when Mattis resigned is because, after a completely farcical meeting about Syria, Mattis wrote his resignation letter, distributed 50 or so copies of it through the Pentagon and then returned to the White House and handed it to Trump in person.

This is another example of Trump lashing out because he feels 'dissed' without thinking through the consequences or ramifications.

Mattis picked February because he wanted to make sure he was present for an important meeting he didn't trust Trump to represent the military properly.

This is the reason that Trump did this - ' He can't handle the truth'

    Mattis' resignation letter in full

    Dear Mr President:

I have been privileged to serve as our country’s 26th Secretary of Defense which has allowed me to serve alongside our men and women of the Department in defense of our citizens and our ideals.

I am proud of the progress that has been made over the past two years on some of the key goals articulated in our National Defense Strategy: putting the Department on a more sound budgetary footing, improving readiness and lethality in our forces, and reforming the Department’s business practices for greater performance. Our troops continue to provide the capabilities needed to prevail in conflict and sustain strong US global influence.

One core belief I have always held is that our strength as a nation is inextricably linked to the strength of our unique and comprehensive system of alliances and partnerships. While the US remains the indispensable nation in the free world, we cannot protect our interests or serve that role effectively without maintaining strong alliances and showing respect to those allies. Like you, I have said from the beginning that the armed forces of the United States should not be the policeman of the world. Instead, we must use all tools of American power to provide for the common defense, including providing effective leadership to our alliances. 29 democracies demonstrated that strength in their commitment to fighting alongside us following the 9-11 attack on America. The Defeat-ISIS coalition of 74 nations is further proof.

Similarly, I believe we must be resolute and unambiguous in our approach to those countries whose strategic interests are increasingly in tension with ours. It is clear that China and Russia, for example, want to shape a world consistent with their authoritarian model gaining veto authority over other nations’ economic, diplomatic, and security decisions to promote their own interests at the expense of their neighbors, America and our allies. That is why we must use all the tools of American power to provide for the common defense.

My views on treating allies with respect and also being clear-eyed about both malign actors and strategic competitors are strongly held and informed by over four decades of immersion in these issues. We must do everything possible to advance an international order that is most conducive to our security, prosperity and values, and we are strengthened in this effort by the solidarity of our alliances.

Because you have the right to have a Secretary of Defense whose views are better aligned with yours on these and other subjects, I believe it is right for me to step down from my position. The end date for my tenure is February 28, 2019, a date that should allow sufficient time for a successor to be nominated and confirmed as well as to make sure the Department’s interests are properly articulated and protected at upcoming events to include Congressional posture hearings and the NATO Defense Ministerial meeting in February. Further, that a full transition to a new Secretary of Defense occurs well in advance of the transition of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in September in order to ensure stability within the Department.

I pledge my full effort to a smooth transition that ensures the needs and interests of the 2.15 million Service Members and 732,079 civilians receive undistracted attention of the Department at all times so that they can fulfill their critical, round-the-clock mission to protect the American people.

I very much appreciate this opportunity to serve the nation and our men and women in uniform.

    Jim N Mattis

Or the 100s of foreign ISIS fighters currently held in Kurdish prisons. What happens to them? Where do they go? Get ready for a car bomb, truck through a crowd, shooting attack on a crowd or a beheading near you. But it’ll be Hillary’s fault. Oh, tune out the noise.

Yes why should we support the allies that have helped us in the ISIS. No way that dicking your allies could ever hurt us in the future.

One of few tweets I do agree with.  When he took office people thought world war 3 was right around the corner, yet he is ending American involvement in Syria, reducing troops in Afghanistan and while in the past , did meet with North Korea.
    Ummm, sure.

MILITARY EXPERTS SAY TRUMP’S SUDDEN SYRIA WITHDRAWAL COULD CREATE “ISIS 2.0”

    https://news.vice.com/en_us/article/7xyayy/military-experts-say-trumps-sudden-syria-withdrawal-could-create-isis-20?utm_source=reddit.com
He had a phone call from Erdogan - he was given talking points by his cabinet members to follow in the call. Erdogan said to pull out your troops because we are going to make a move on the Kurds (who Erdogan considers a terrorist group although they are not).

Trump was supposed to say No. We will not pull out our troops and do not make a military move on the Kurds.

Instead, Trump said Okay and wants to pull out our Marines and allow Erdogan to finally ethically  cleanse the Kurds (our allies who were the people who actually fought Isis in hand to hand combat as we provided air cover and intelligence. We promised to be allied and to protect the Kurds who are responsible for being essential in reducing the amount of land that Isis controlled.

So Trump ignored his Secretary of State & other advisors - ignored his talking points and said okey dokey when Erdogan told him what to do. He is a puppet to all the strong men. Pulling out our special forces and leaving an ally to be slaughtered is unthinkable. America can no longer be trusted as a reliable ally. Not saying that we should be involved in all these areas, but this is a mission that has actually worked and since we went there and made a promise, a 'great' country would not abandon its promise to protect people who have done the dirty work of killing Isis scum.

France has already said that they will keep their troops there and the reaction around the world was one of shock. This is not something a 'great' country does.

And after cowtowing to Erdogan and saying some BS about how Russia, Iran and Syria are made that we are leaving - Putin has his year end authoritarian 'press' conference and says that 'Donald' did the right thing. But then Putin later says that Afghanistan is a place that the US should not be and lo and behold, Trump announces plans to remove our troops.

There is no way that a person can support what Trump is doing - he is flailing and disregarding any advice from advisors and not even speak to our allies or to Congress or the military. Even discussing this as if Trump is enacting  a foreign policy is ridiculous. This is not normal - this is insanity and someone needs to stand up against the dangerous actions that Trump is doing with no knowledge of what the hell the circumstances or consequences are. The man doesn't have his daily briefings because they are boring - they cut into his 'executive time' of laying in bed watching the news and tweeting.

Seriously - to speak about Trump as if there is a method to his madness is missing the fact that this is all madness.
Lol. So Trump got France to grow balls?   If nothing else, he accomplished that.  Finally   France didn’t run like a bunch of Italians ( note:  not referring to Italian Americans.  Just Italy itself that generally caves like a paper tent at the direction of a stern voice)
This makes less sense than a Trump tweet.
What would you like explained to you?  Do you know anything about history?  Just want to know where I need to start.
The only comment you have is that Trump made France grow balls? Trump doesn't have the balls to fire someone face to face. This is a person who has no regard for what keeps the world relatively safe.

Do you care about respecting alliances and being an honest broker? Do you care about America keeping its word? Are you not alarmed at the obvious affection for dictators and disrespect for our allies and all of the institutions that have kept the world safe from a world war since the aftermath of WWII?

France already had balls. Trump is incompetent and dangerous. This isn't a game. The Secretary of Defense and the Commander in Syria have resigned because they cannot follow the orders of a person who is aligning with dictatorships and ruining our alliances. That has never happened before.

There comes a point when its not funny anymore and its not about partisanship. The time for snide comments is over and It's time for Americans to start giving a shit because we are in a crisis.
Wait..lots of stuff on this thread and the most hilarious is that France already had balls....hahahaha comedy gold on the AMT!

Trump has just elevated a Boeing executive to Acting Secretary of Defense and Turkey is going to murder our allies in the fight against Isis. Turkey did the same thing to the Armenians, which the US still does not recognize as an ethnic cleansing operation.

Turkey has the second largest military, next to ours, I believe. Those Kurds don't stand a chance. And our military people are still there. Turkey is a member of NATO, so we can't attack them, but if they begin to slaughter our allies, how do we just stand by.

This is not about if we should be in the Middle East or not, that is a discussion that can be had in another thread. This is about the President of the USA dismantling the military hierarchy and taking orders from a dictator.

This is how terrorists are created - the US fucks people over and they want to kill us.

    Besides it being WRONG.

And is he allowed to appoint someone without Senate confirmation? The government is shutdown, how is he able to do anything like this.

Well we now know how long it takes Trump to read the resignation letters he keeps getting.
Might be interesting to see how/if Mattis responds given he won't have all the normal Trumpian NDAs etc. to worry about.

I’m hoping Mattis voluntarily interviews with Team Mueller and provides notes, files, recordings, etc.

MILITARY EXPERTS SAY TRUMP’S SUDDEN SYRIA WITHDRAWAL COULD CREATE “ISIS 2.0”

Good to see you're focusing on the important stuff. I don't find anything hilarious about what's going on - but enjoy the destruction of our country as you laugh at one of our allies. Interesting.

We have you here for that.

I just went back to the syria thread of old to see who was for getting out...be interesting to see some of those people give trump credit here. I’m waiting for it.

im slightly torn because I do think the us has military leaders and political leaders hell bent on lots of war. That said I believe this pullout is not the correct decision. I think setting the goal, and leaving wants goal is achieved is appropriate, and I think we are close but not done with the goal.

Good to see you're focusing on the important stuff. I don't find anything hilarious about what's going on - but enjoy the destruction of our country as you laugh at one of our allies. Interesting.
By the way, if it wasn’t important why did you feel the need to defend France and their amazing  military?
Someone said that Trump made France grow balls. I said they already had balls. I didn't say they had an amazing military. They however are an ally and I guess it is in vogue to trash our allies. If you had actually read the entire dialogue, you would have understood that. France has stood by our side in many fights, they have not in others. At least their leader understands that massacres are disgraceful.

And thank you for recognizing that I focus on things that are important. I care about our country, don't have time for people who look for reasons to ridicule others. And I have been careful to not fall into that trap as it is easy to do and I have been wrong at times.

I find no reason for it and don't see why some people seem to enjoy it so much. But to each their own. I can count on you to find something wrong with anything I post - at least you're predictable, unlike our president.

But I'm just a long winded fan girl so WTF do I know.

I can understand reasonable debate - I do not understand finding fault just to find fault. If that makes you tough and me soft. I will proudly embrace my softness.

I have had it with people who just want to dig at others and I'm not sure why I find myself on the receiving end, but it's not my business if someone chooses to find me offensive.

However, it does not make it enjoyable to be here. I have PTSD - I don't expect anyone to think everything I say is right but I find it extremely hurtful that the same people relish in finding ways to poke at me. I'm not the only one it's done to but, for me, it affects my health and so I will not be posting here and upsetting all of you people who need to take me down.

I enjoy debating politics. I do not like the constant snide comments. How it makes people feel good is beyond me. And if I have done it to anyone else, I apologize.

I am done with the 10Club - I thought I'd find nice people here. I did, but I found a lot of things that are not very nice.

You certainly like to hold grudges over a joke a long time ago.  Seems about right. Happy holidays.

Today in the United States- we have no Secretary of Defense, no White House Chief of Staff, no Attorney General and no clear authority at the Department of Justice. Sanctions on Russia have been arbitrarily lifted and our troops have been arbitrarily taken out of Syria. It's the first anniversary of the tax cults for the wealthy and the DOW is at it's lowest point since October 2017. There are 17 separate investigations into the campaign, the transition, the inauguration and the administration. Today the government is shut down. This person has waged a more effective attack on the United States than the Japanese did at Pearl Harbor

....Oh well, I guess Hillary just wasn't inspiring enough...

She wasn’t. But trump should have inspired more of an “anti” vote towards her than he did. I do not like Hills and I managed to throw up in my mouth and vote for her. No idea how others couldn’t.

It's the Kurds that will be slaughtered but your empathy is noted.

I don't buy the ISIS 2.0 because that would happen regardless.  The lack of planning,  consultation,  strategy and concern for our allies is revolting.  But these are the same characteristics he displays in every aspect of his life.

Don’t go we appreciate your input heck I always make fool of myself and I’ve learned so much even from
posters I don’t see eye to eye with , I hope you reconsider..
