I am well aware of that, but that changes nothing as far as my faith in America preventing a fascist from becoming POTUS goes. Enough voted for it to happen, and obviously that's all that matters at the end of the day. I'm not trying to slag everyone in America at all btw, lol. Everyday I try to ease my anxieties about all this by remembering that the majority of Americans (albeit a way-too-slim one) are still sane and rational. It's just too close for comfort, which is why I can never trust it again in this context - at least not unless a LOT changes before I kick the bucket.my2hands said:

He got majorities in the states he needed to win the election and the Electoral College is still going to be there in 2020. Running up the score in California isn't going to help the Democratic nominee win Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan. It's been said a million times before and we all know this. I say it now only to illustrate that it is dangerous to assume 2020 is in the bag.

Exactly.... plus, what if the crazy grows instead of shrinks? I can't possibly have faith that that won't be the case anymore.JimmyV said:He got majorities in the states he needed to win the election and the Electoral College is still going to be there in 2020. People like to point that out...as if it's not still going to be in place in the future. He'll probably lose the popular vote in 2020, but that doesn't mean he'll lose the election. The electoral college will never go away. And, at least given the current landscape, will always favor more conservative and populist candidates. After 2016, I am astonished to see anyone think he has no chance in 2020.my2hands said:

Agreed, it's highly unlikely the Electoral will go away under this Constitution. You need 2/3 of states to ratify the elimination. The change would negatively affect half the states, likely.OnWis97 said:

But if you think people think every American sucks because of all this, you're wrong. That's not how people feel. They just don't have faith in America as a whole mass of people making a decision because there are just so many people who are ready to do the wrong thing... and the stuff that influences people to do that are running full blast 24/7, so to think it's going to get better seems like a tough hill to climb right now.
(BTW, I'm sure Canada and/or Europe will have a non-white leader soon enough - this is far from the realm of impossibility in either of those places.... and I seriously doubt that they will be greeted with the level of racism that Obama was in the US)

"We" elected him with an assist from Russia. Don't forget that. And don't forget the power of social media and the ability for it to dupe and influence. Foreign governments don't spend a million dollars a day and not expect a return on their investment. The three states that gave the electoral college to Team Trump Treason and the districts that were the focus of the Russian bot farms? it all played a role. Master stroke by Putin.JimmyV said:

I didn't say the only reason. I said it was an assist and that Russia's efforts had results. Take out the coordinated effort of the Russian troll bots, Cambridge Analytica and the money to the RNC and NRA, and Hillary is president. There's a reason so many republicans have resigned and those remaining are fighting tooth and nail to obstruct justice and shut down Team Mueller.JimmyV said:
