I can agree with that. But I think there is definitely a case to be made that actual Republican voters are less informed than Democrat voters. All you have to do is watch one evening of the most popular "news" network in America to get that impression. Fox is misinforming Americans every night, there is no equivalent on the left.cincybearcat said:
Well that's not evidence at all.dignin said:
Trump and his continued popularity among Republicans is all the evidence anyone should need.cincybearcat said:
No, we don’t agree. That’s not what I said at all. Where are your stats to back that up?dignin said:
So we agree that most Republicans are low info voters?cincybearcat said:
Well ... it works for the Dems too when they can get them to the polls. In fact if all low info voters actually voted, Dems would win in a landslidedignin said:
This is the problem with roughly 50% (or more) of American voters. House GOP says no evidence of collusion and they take it to mean that Mueller has found no evidence of collusion too. Low info voters = win for the Republicans.tbergs said:
Here's what he's talking about.RoleModelsinBlood31 said:Hannity is reporting that as soon as tonight news of “no collision found” will be out as meuller’s investigation findings. We already knew this but 18 months is a long time for nothingHouse GOP says no evidence of collusion as they end Russia probe
And I haven't seen the stats behind the claim that most low info non-voters are democrats. Can you post the evidence here?
Im better that a large % of non-voters are low info. And when the Dems mobilize that group, they gain a lot more votes than GOP.
Still waiting for some evidence that low info non-voters are democrats.
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/20/opinion/voter-turnout-democrats-republicans.html
Perhaps you are not understanding what I'm saying. I believe there are likely very similar low info voters %-wise in each party. But there are more democrats/liberals sitting on the sidelines during a presidential election. The Republicans get their low info voters to come out and vote the 1 or 2 issues they do know (abortion being 1). If the Democrats can get their non voters to come out and vote the 1 or 2 issues that they actually know something about (see Obama election), they win.0 -
Agreed. That is why I hate "Get Out The Vote" campaigns, or "Vote For Change" movements. The voters who are informed and actually care, are already planning on voting. All these awareness campaigns do is bring out the lowest common denominator as if voting numbers is the goal. My goal would be to have everyone who does vote actually understand the issues or candidates for which/whom they're casting votes.tbergs said:No need to argue over who has the most low info voters, they're everywhere and they only come out to vote when someone stokes their ire about how disenfranchised they are. It happens on both sides. It just so happens that this last time they voted for the worst candidate the GOP has ever endorsed."I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please." I agree that for many of those campaigns that is the goal. But it seems to me that the primary objective is to increase voter turnout. Having an informed voting block is a secondary consideration. And those campaigns often don't even scratch the surface of the issues. Here's a t-shirt and a sticker. Go vote. Here's your favorite rock star telling you to vote, so go vote. Get out and vote. Get to the polls. Those are the main messages. One still has to dig, even with those campaigns, to get informed. I'm sure some do.
